Isn't Taylor Mattson, the gopher recruit, his brother? Kind of funny he didn't want to play with his brother. Then again, maybe he wanted to make his own name. Whatever, I'm glad the Sioux got him. Like someone said, you win some, you lose some. Who would have though Ness would go to Minnesota out of Roseau, especially after his dad played for the Sioux.

I agree totally. The problem I have was with the idiots that were harping on UND when it would hurt their standing for the DII playoffs. Remember the idiot legislator from Fargo that wanted the state to force them to play? You don't hear much from him now. I will say if the Bison don't want to play the Sioux after it wouldn't hurt their standing, that would show something of a vindictive nature, because no matter what NDSU says about SDSU being a great rival, they actually don't have one, and the Sioux don't either, except for in hockey.

Let's not take too much from the game last night. Yes, if Freund is for real and can perform in adverse situations, I believe the Sioux would give the Bison a run because I believe their skilled players are as good, if not better than those on the Bison. However, in the trenches, I believe the Bison would have the advantage, especially in depth. Let's remember that the skilled players on Humbolt State didn't even have a chance because their lines couldn't match up. I'm not saying the Sioux lines would be at a major disadvantage, just that they might not have the depth on the defensive line to rotate like they usually do against a very good offensive line. Were the Sioux afraid to play the Bison a few years back? No. So don't be making the same lame argument that some Bison fans were making back then.

A little off topic, but did anyone notice that the poll they have asking which opponent will be the Sioux's toughest has the Sioux playing Omaha away. That would make a big difference in my vote, but since they play them at home and South Dakota away, I picked South Dakota.

A little off topic, but I see NDSU is playing Rutgers in mens basketball. How good is the Rutger's men's basketball team?

http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=47673 Looks like Lennon was just extending professional courtesy because he knew a story was coming out.

Dale Lennon said that they have a Nebraska transfer at QB that was #1 on their depth chart at one point, as well as a running back that played for Arizona State as a true freshman. Hopefully they won't have the chemistry and UND can take advantage of the atmosphere in the Alerus.

But when you get 5000 less fans in late October and November, it is hard to argue with playing indoors. I would love them to play outdoors as well, but there are literally a lot of "fair" weather fans.
-
Chris Mussman is telling Mike McNamara that Josh Murray will play as a true freshman. He is #3 on the depth chart behind Chappell and Brady.
-
Lennon said to Tim & Swyg this moring that 3 true freshmen would play this year, but wouldn't specify which ones. With playing time at the scrimmage last week in EGF, does anyone have a good inkling which ones it might be?

I think any Fighting Sioux Club Member gets in free to Volleyball or Women's hockey. I believe all you have to do is show your FSC card at the ticket booth.
-
On the other hand, many people get riled up because they want the game on TV so they don't have to buy a ticket.
-
Have they decided on the gopher series for this? Based on how many single tickets went to gopher fans, it may look less spectacular with all the maroon & gold littered all over the place. Regardless, my friend was wondering if someone could post a flyer or something about the promotion so she can print it and give it to friends.

Don't know how it reflects poorly on Lucia. A coach can only take a players words as truth. You would think if OBrien had any reservations at all, he would just not say anything.
-
So you want the people that pay for season tickets to get the crappy seats while the people that only go to a few games to get the great seats. Not sure of that logic.

Easy for you to say living in Arizona. We know the weather changes that occur when Sioux hockey starts, so it becomes a tug of war between our conventional wisdom and our love of hockey. Some would question our wisdom living in North Dakota, but then again, there are Sioux hockey, and Sioux football, and Sioux basketball, and good people and ...

I thought it was the dike system in this country with which the media was outraged. Oh yeah, this bridge is the new flavor of the month. Yes, this is tragic, but more people die from drunk drivers, yet we have multiple offenders remain on the road. There are plenty of places our money can go, and until we get the pork out of every congressman's vocabulary, we won't have any money to fix any of it, but to all of a sudden become outraged even though problems like this and the dike system have been a problem for a very long time is a bit convenient. Everyone becomes an expert after the fact. This smacks of the armchair quarterbacks, that are masters of hindsight.

I thought the same thing, but I remember hearing Lennon say he doesn't like the night games. I actually liked when they played the night game the first year the Alerus opened. Let's face it, when you get nice weather on a fall weekend in North Dakota, you like to take full advantage of it, because you know full well what's coming. There are plenty of times I would have liked to go golfing on a beautiful fall afternoon, but chose to go inside the Alerus instead. The weather's always going to be the same in the Alerus, but it would be nice if they would have a few more night games to allow people to go hunting or do something in their yard on a few Saturday afternoons.

Denver will be just fine. Remember, there were those experts that said UND wasn't getting the elite prospects just a year ago and lamenting the fact Denver was stealing some of them from us.
-
Any more word on this?
-
How many people do you think felt sorry for the Sioux after losing 5 players last year, and having a lost a player every year for the last decade or so? Some things need a little evenin' out in my book.
-
If they try to do it on Minnesota series I don't think it would be quite as impressive, because there are always quite a few gopher fans to spoil the party.
-
Don't know the guy, but that appears to be Lee's personality. If he didn't enjoy UND, then he didn't enjoy Moorhead or the US Juniors either, because he seemed to have the same demeanor playing for those two teams.
-
I would find it hard to believe either team offered him a great amount of scholarship money this early in the game, especially if what Exiled says is true, that they don't expect him to come in until he is 20. There are a lot of other good recruits out there within the next couple of years, so why tie up your money that early with a player that could need a little more development. Please don't construe this to mean that I don't think he is, or will be a very good player.

I'll make a case for Troy Murray on the first line. Other than Hrkac, how many players had 140+ points in their first two years, and Hrkac's years weren't consecutive. Not only that, but he was a great NHL forward that could play defense, having won the Selke award.
