  1. I think our FB team was on TV every game this year but 1. Getting your ass handed to you when you're on TV really isn't a good thing is it?

This is a basketball thread isn't it? I'm talking all sports. How many times was your volleyball team on TV? How many other basketball games will be televised? Your looking at one sport, I was asking about athletics as a whole. Not even close.

  2. Haha, whatever you say buddy.

Your seriously going argue where the two programs are at as far as TV? That is one area our AD has worked very hard to develop and its not even close. I watched more UND volleyball games on TV this year than what your basketball team will see.

  3. True and I get all that, but look at our attendencs that last 3-4 years. Very poor. Why? Poor teams like SDSoM come to the Al that no one wants to see. Plus lots of people, including myself, already write a check to the FSC. Fill the Al every game like SU does the Dome and the gate receipts would dramatically help off set getting better competition into GF. It's a chicken/egg scenerio, but to say "write the check" is a little myopic IMO.

While you both have a point here is the way I look at it. It is the season opener and a home game. The attendance should be good with some excitement built from this season along with the hopefully improved marketing this offseason. May as well spend the money on a game that counts for something. Every win is going to count to get to the needed number for playoffs. Our team will be better but I'm not thinking we will be good enough in our first full season in an established conference to have to get to 7 or 8 wins in basically a 10 game schedule. I'd love to be proven wrong but with the inconsistent play last year, who knows. That one extra game could end up being the difference.

  4. Here is a link to a place where you can find teams schedules that have been announced. It's put together by some people on the site, so it may not be completely accurate, but they are adding based on info that they can get. Still would love the Mines game off the schedule.

Great site, I'd honestly be happy with traveling for a FCS game (as part of a home and home) instead of having that 6th home game vs. Mines. Only if we can't get a home FCS game to recplace it. I don't want to play that game cause it will be a blow out and I don't want to take the chance of having that game haunt us down the road if we get to the necessary win total for the playoffs. Plus if we can get a lower end FCS game that could be the win that gets us to the 7-8 win total and in the playoffs.

  5. a little birdy may have mentioned that a JUCO linebacker may be joining the team this week

    Inside? Outside?

A linebacker that went the Juco route that may have committed before but had to get his grades up?

  6. We would rip a kid if he verballed and decommitted but this is the reverse...you don't offer a recruit, have the recruit and then pull the plug. Something tells me that we wouldn't have pulled the offer if the transfer QB didn't come to the table. This is something that will hurt us recruiting...other schools will be sure to mention it.

Annette, I'm sorry your son was treated this way. I do believe that (after reading his twitter) he has some growing up to do, but I appreciate the fact that you acknowledge that. UND football should have stuck by it's word and stayed committed to the kid.

What's the saying...what goes around comes around...

If the kid never signed a Letter of Intent there is nothing binding him to the school or vice versa. Kid openly admitted he wasn't 100% sure about the choice. Nothing wrong with heading a different direction and he may find something that suites him better.

  7. This is good news. Get someone in here to hold down the position for one year, hopefully play well and than let the young guys remaining fight it out to see who takes over after that. I think after this recruiting class we will have the young qb in our system we can develop. Hopfully this is the answer to the position that has been the biggest question mark the last couple years. Nice work by the coaching staff.

  8. I agree with some of the above, lets give the kid a chance to get here before we throw him under the bus. His coach said some other schools were waiting on some other offers before offering him, we'll see how it plays out. Hopefully by now the team has an identity inside the locker room and a kid either fits in or makes the proper adjustments to fit in. Newsflash- not every kid our coaches recruit will be an A+ student with a perfect attitude. Its up to the player to buy into the program and hopefully it works out in this case. A certain LB who just graduated had a little trouble and a little bit of an attitude before he got to UND and he ended up being a great player and a great person off the field. Give this kid a chance.

  9. Read the 1st comment :

Scare tactics is all this is. As a UND student-athlete, I hope and pray that these petitions get enough signatures to completely mess EVERYTHING up. It will be a disaster, and something big will change. UND doesn't need to be in the Big Sky. If we are going to move forward, we should at the very least go to the Summit League/Missouri Valley where USD, NDSU, and SDSU are. How stupid. My teammates always get on my case because of my ideas. They say we need to get rid of the nickname so we can get into better tournaments against better teams and so we can get better recruits. Frankly, I don't give a rip about good tournaments or better recruits. We did just fine for 80 years with the nickname, it's not the end of the world as we know it just because a few babied, scholarship-covered kids from California won't come up and play. Good. It gives more of an opportunity for NORTH DAKOTA people to participate in athletics at the University of NORTH DAKOTA. Don't give me crap about how the Indians don't want the nickname, they do. Don't kid yourself. This whole process is crap. I'm not even allowed to bring a water bottle with a Sioux logo on it on the bus to our tournaments. A WATER BOTTLE. If somebody got offended by my water bottle, I would laugh at them. What should be offensive is that we have a bunch of PC morons dumping 80 years of tradition down the toliet. I'm sick of it. Sign the petitions people!

A UND student-athlete can get behind this effort, but not some of you alleged fans. Your really should be ashamed of yourselves, being so willing to roll over and be submissive. Grow a pair!!!

Its funny, I don't see a Legit Slater on any of our rosters of our athletic teams. This person believes so strongly about this he/she is willing to write their beliefs under a false name. Must beleive in this pretty stongly. And than you expect me to believe he/she is an athlete?

  10. Kelley and Portland State's President Wim Wiewel's relationship goes way back too their days together at Ill-Chicago.

Strange how Portland State's Wiewel seemed to be a ringleader in the Big Sky against the Sioux name.

    Was Wiewel Kelley's wing man?

    More to come on that.

Here's an email Kelley wrote to Wiewel bragging even before the NCAA meeting on how the SBoHE had already voted to drop the name.

    http://sayanythingbl...ting-in-august/

I'm beginning to think that the only people who thought the meeting with the NCAA was going to change anything were you and Al Carlson. If I were on the trip I would have kept the car running with the AC on while we went inside to keep it cool. The meeting could have been that quick.

  11. We have a short 6 day window between quiet periods this week for recruiting. Hoping we hear of a few verbals this week but I'm guessing next weekend, the 14th will be the big recruiting weekend.

  12. no one will be there from ndsu, under 1000.

ndsu fans have better things to do, this is your super bowl, the only chance to compete against ndsu in a relevant sport.

but ndsu fans dont care, wont care about this game.

Your funny. Typical bison troll. You don't care about UND yet there are ndsu fans posting on this board daily. And I bet no one will care if you get beat or bother posting here if you win. The ndsu fans not caring about UND has been beat to death and is more and more comical everyday. There are new posts daily on your own fan board about UND and new threads started weekly so its pretty funny when you say no one cares.

  13. At least I wouldn't lie to you. ;) When did deceipt become a trait you admired, Homer?

Guess as long as morals and laws and constitutional principles don't apply, you are okie dokie about everything as long as the NCAA is happy. And people wonder how they lose their freedoms in other countries.

I just think Kelly has more patience than I would have for this. We've changed from not retiring the nickname, to retiring the name, to not retiring it, to now transitioning to retiring it. Things that were said when we were in the retirement stage shouldn't be held against someone when we've flip flopped two or three times now. I don't think Kelley has ever really hid his thoughts on the subject even though he hasn't come out and voiced them publically. As far as the NCAA and Big Sky are concerned I guess I'm in the crowd that believes if its their club, they can do what they want. UND still has the option of keeping their nickname, its called the NAIA.

  14. What is the over / under on how many days Kelley has left?

How many member of the SBoHE will be forced to resign in disgrace?

    http://sayanythingbl...concerns-bogus/

If I was Kelley I'd resign on my own and go tell the hockey only loving crowd to go !@#$ themselves. Than you could apply for the job Star since you seem to have the whole conference thing figured out and could get the rest of the sports into a conference while being in good standing with the NCAA.

  15. Well, now that we are in the recruiting dead period what's everyone's thoughts- assuming of course everyone who has verballed sign on Signing Day. Good list of kids that have verballed so far. We're continuing to build depth by getting some kids who appear as if they could play very early in their careers. I expect we will see, or hear about, a some offensive linemen and a few more secondary verbals as those are always going to be positions of need in the Big Sky. What is everyone's thoughts?
