  1. You still butthurt that Marcus Williams said Sioux Suck? You still butthurt that some NDSU fans yelled Sioux Suck as one of the chants they have done since they were in college? Quit crying. Some Bison fans are going to say it until the day they die, just like Texas-Texas A&M fans are going to trash the other school now even though they aren't playing anymore.

You have to look at what Texas and A&M will be like 10 years from now to make your compairson work. I guess I don't know what conference either team will be in at that time but if thats what it takes for you to justify that UND was clearly on the minds of ndsu players and fans after their nat'l championship, so be it.

  2. NDSU charges 10.00 more for a homecoming ticket and would have to charge more if UND is on the schedule to make up for the lost revenue of going there. Siouxperfan7 don't flatter yourself - as an old rival it would have a lot of interest but from a FB point of view a playoff team would be of greater interest to most NDSU fans.

Clearly this was proven in the hours after the national championship game by fans and players. UND wasn't even on their minds after 10 years.

Wait, never mind. Don't flatter yourself Dan.

  3. I like that, and hope that people continue to push that idea. If I lived in Carlson's district I would strongly consider helping put together a recall effort to get him out of the Legislature.

I live in Carlson's district and have tried to contact him by phone and e-mail about his thoughts on his law and the topic in general. My neighbors have as well and all of us are still waiting to hear from him. As residents in his district, I feel that he should be able to share how his meeting with the NCAA went before the upcoming vote. I have also contacted Heitcamp and asked him to have Carlson or Dalrymple on before the vote. I feel its important for the voters of North Dakota to have a chance to revisit how this meeting went. Its funny that for some reason Al won't respond to these requests.

I feel that if a radio station or newspaper would want to write a good story, now would be a great time to revisit that 15 minute meeting with the NCAA. The leadership who met with the NCAA reversed their decision to put the law in place so fast after they returned the NCAA obviously made it pretty clear they weren't budging and had a pretty good reason not to. I don't see any radio or newspaper having enough balls to write that article though and ask the tough questions unfortunately.

  4. I am not saying I disagree with the move to bring in Hansen at all, he looks to be the real deal and could really help the team.

But, do you think this might set a dangerous precedent at the QB position? Bringing in a guy who will only be there for 1 year at such an important position, and pretty much handing him the position?

He hasn't been name the starter so I don't think he's been handed the job. People who went to practices and scrimmages this spring and watched know that him and Bradley (along with the others) split reps between the ones and twos. Both seperated from the pack and the battle will continue into the fall. Neither has been named the starter so I guess to answer your question, no, its not a dangerous precedent at all.

  5. Sounds like someone or a particular fanbase is more scared of the game cause of how it may end up. I get it now after reading pages of this thread, they think its great to chant how UND sucks and its great when your players stand up on a stage and proclaim how this is Bison country and UND sucks, but when it comes time to prove it onthe field, there is no benefit. Talking the talk is easier sometimes I guess.

  6. Four 16 team conferences was so close to happening last year. Basically Notre Dame not choosing a conference is what kept it from happening. This thing is close. I think Florida St. being so open about them and Clemson joining a conference in the middle of the country speaks volumes about how close it is to becoming a reality.

  7. No. People like lakes are trying to not want the game. There was a small sioux suck chant at the game. There was a sioux suck chant when they got home. I have been to every home game for years...I haven't heard a real sioux suck chant at an NDSU football game since we actually palyed UND. In the student section, you'll hear a few people and clusters of friends do it from time to time. Yes, I am not surprised at a former Bison players wedding they would do that. It is something Bison fans have always done. I don't know why you care....it is just what people do. The Texas and Texas A&M fight songs both talk crap about the other school. Those schools will not be playing from now on, and I'm betting the songs will not change.

I don't care. I just find it funny that every response is that such a small percentage of fans want the game when its been made clear time and time again this year that your fans won't let it go. You proved my point by trying to justify your point by naming state schools that play eachother every year as your example. I think the volleyball and basketball games this year have more to do with not wanting the games scheduled than your fanbase moving on.

  8. I don't discredit him for doing what he thinks is best for his football program. Just as UND fans shouldn't discredit Taylor for doing what he thinks is best for his. What Faison has been demanding is what UND fans truly want. There aren't many NDSU fans that truly want an annual game right now. I respect your first choice but many of us don't agree with it.

What you are forgetting in all of this is that the people who attend FB games at NDSU don't want the scenario you laid out. Yes, it is easy to make it happen but its not easy to tell people who want one thing that they are going to do another. NDSU has a formula that they prefer to follow and as of right now it seems to be working quite well for them. I don't see them changing too much of that anytime soon.

You guys are trying so hard to talk yourselves into not wanting this game. Sioux suck chants during the nat'l championship, Sioux suck chants when you returned from the nat'l championship, Sioux suck chants at home games. Hell I was at a wedding last weekend in Dickinson of a former Bison player and a Sioux suck chant broke out at the end of the dance. Your post should read that there are not many of the 50 regulars on B'ville who want an annual game, there are more than plenty that want it to happen but are nervous of the outcome.

  9. I actually agree. I think up until this point NDSU had too much to lose by playing this game, and I think if the situation were reversed UND would be saying pretty much the same thing.

As a competitor I say we should have been playing UND all along, but I admit, during the past 4 years, playing a game against scared me a little. Only because NDSU had moved up and SHOULD win the game. But it's a rivalry game and anytime that is the case either team could come out on top.

So it makes sense to me that NDSU has waited until UND was on equal footing in terms of scholarships. That way in the event that UND wins the game, which has always been a possibility, it is far less embarrassing.

Now before you say "I told you NDSU fans were scared", understand that UND would have thought the exact same way had they made the move up first.

I don't want this to come off as condescending, but I'm sure it will. It's similar to when UND played USF. UND gained absolutely nothing from playing that game. USF is considered by the public to be an inferior opponent, a savvy football fan knows that USF is a quality program and actually might have fielded a better squad than UND that year. It is still a point of major embarrassment for UND to lose the game. That's how I have felt the last 4 years.

I am confident we would have won, but I know how the game works and once you step on the field with a team you are opening yourself up to a loss, even if it seems like a remote possibility.

Long story short, it makes much more sense to get serious about scheduling this game now that UND and NDSU are back on "equal footing".

I think you said it well and made good points. Now that the transition is over, its time to get serious about scheduling the game. I know a majority of Bison fans would rather play UND than Prairie View A&M. I find it very comical if you wouldnt.

  10. I admit I was wrong. It wasn't mentioned in the Media Blog however, Izzo have a couple tweets about it on May 15th. Mentioning Taylor told him about 2015 and 2017. I'd say Taylor was the first to go to the media.

  11. Doesn't matter what I think - since Faison decided to negotiate this in the media there's a good chance this won't happen.

Gene Taylor was the first to mention the game and dates on the Bison Media blog. You don't even have to know how to read to see it since it was video. Than, Izzo tweeted about it. Only after that did Faison get a phone call and believe it or not, he said 2015 would be the first year it would happen and that they were talking. Wierd, its what Izzo and Taylor were saying two days earlier.

I agree with a few posters from earlier, I think the basketball game and volleyball game from last year have Bison fans a little nervous about scheduling this one.

  12. Marcus Williams said Sioux Suck. Get over it. He knows the fans eat that sort of stuff up. He also has a sister who plays ball up there.

So....like I said, I think it will be interesting to see how the players respond to it. In the two basketball games played against one another, I think we all got let down. I thought both of those would be a lot more fun than they were.

This is like you choosing only the record of the last 50 years to base your opinion of the overall rivalry. Players and fans are thinking about UND immediately after winning the Nat'l Championship and you are wondering how they will respond to it. Good stuff. I think your question was answered last January.

  13. Reed Soderstrom was on KNOX radio and said that they are still working on the Constitutional Amendment. As far as he knows, they are still around 20,000 signatures. They need approximately 27,000 approved signatures, so they will probably need to get at least 32-33,000. They need them by early August to get on the November ballot, but he said that they could also turn them in by early December to get a special election next spring.

The main reason he was on was to discuss the Forum poll. He continues to say that the warnings of harm to UND are just fearmongering. He said that the sanctions are marginal. He says that UND will not be removed from the Big Sky and part of his proof is that the schedules are made out until 2015. He accuses the people trying to retire the name of lying. And he is still promoting that people vote no to defeat the NCAA. Of course he is wrong about the potential damage to UND, the Big Sky has the ability to remove UND at any time they want, and we have seen mainly lies and partial truths coming from his group. The 1 question I have never heard anyone ask him is how a no vote will defeat or harm the NCAA. A no vote will not harm the NCAA in any way, but it will harm the University.

Good grief. If anyone is stretching the truth its Soderstrom. Does this guy realize that schedules can be redone in a day? For football, the conference schedule could be redone in a second so any Big Sky team wouldn't have to reschedule any games. For every other sport, having an even number would make creating the schedules even easier and a team could keep UND on the schedule as non conference if they absolutely wanted. Its funny how far they will stretch the truth to try and paint their picture. Other schools have laid out the facts for UND and made painting their picture pretty easy.

  14. We need someone to commit.

I agree it would be nice to see a commit early but I really don't think we will see anything until after camps. I know the coaches got a lot of the kids they wanted to get here on campus for the spring game. Now if they can get those kids back up here for camps and get a week with them instead of a day, I think we'll see a few commitments.

  15. You're right. They wouldn't even think about bring up UND while celebrating their national champio....errr, never mind.

Haha, well played. Biggest day in their programs history and guess who is on their mind.

  16. And the scary part is nobody knows how many more Minnesotas, Wisconsins, Iowas, and SDSUs are sitting on the sidelines waiting for all avenues of nickname retirement to close so they are forced to implement what they have already decided...no play if the nickname stays.

Of course the nickname or bust crowd will say there will be none or just a few, I've got a feeling there will be plenty.

And if the Big Sky schools are among them...

O'Keefe mentioned this morning they were discussing a non conference game, match or meet (sport unnamed) with U of M- Morris. They wouldn't schedule due to the policies of U of M. I wonder if this will apply to Mankato or Duluth for non conference as well.

  17. Not only twitter. Just listened to the SDSU AD on McFeeley and he stated the same thing. Until UND is removed from the sanctions list, they will no longer place UND on any schedules.

  18. Trouble is they can't ask for help. After what RT did with NDSU starting it's transition. I know you don't want to hear it but maybe the chickens will come home to roost.

I'm fairly certain that what happened 10 years ago under different leadership is not what is holding UND back from asking NDSU to give a public opinion.

  19. You really think your fight is with NDSU fans? This whole name thing has nothing to do with NDSU. ALL the und alumni that I know are voting NO. They are hockey people and the name and hockey are what they care about. In winning any fight you need to know which battles to pick.

Is it only NDSU fan that listen to KFGO? The original post was made to encourage people who support the change of the nickname to call in and get their reasoning out there. The young man on there openly has stated many times how he will vote and why, why is it that any one who calls in with a different point of view is trying to pick a fight with a Bison fan?

Dan I know you have a hard on for UND and want nothing more than to claim UND is dragging NDSU into this mess but there has been no UND official who has asked NDSU for help. I know as many NDSU fans who are voting "yes" on the issue as are voting "no". The only difference is the ones voting "No" openly share the same thought as Gunderson and want to discuss how they are doing it to hurt UND. When someone is explaining how they are voting and they start out by saying, I'm and NDSU fan, is why they are involved. Its all about if you support the name or not, it has nothing to do with being an NDSU fan unless your using that to justify why you are voting the way you are.
