Thought article offered an insight into Betty Engelstad's and Kris McGarry's personalities. Since UND athletics has already received so extravagantly, just thankful for what has already been given.

FCS title game date could be moved to January This change would allow fans time to make travel reservations with adequate notice to get decent rates.

Oklahoma State's $165 million donation up in smoke?

Montana had major trouble with Central Washington, so that's not a good benchmark. Been listening to the Aggie broadcast, and they complemented the UND offense, but questioned UND's defensive speed saying it seemed apparent UND hadn't seen speed like UCD has.

Does that mean they have the necessary donations, including funding for demolition of the Old Ralph?

This won't have much of an effect on UND, but Simon Fraser U intends to join Div II of the NCAA in all sports. Seems UBC's entry into DII and it's hockey teams into DI may not be too distant. National Post: Simon Fraser ready to jump to NCAA

With the next group of recruits having Jr and Sr year playoff eligibility if they redshirt, we should be entering the sweet spot for recruits. In 2010, a player would get a trip to Hawaii, Idaho, UC-Davis, USD, and two other (southern/Texas?) locales.

As stated in the earlier post, $750,000 is for a IA team (without a home and home). This was what was offered last year to fill out UH's schedule: Hawaii's weak schedule is not its fault The $350,000 for all travel expenses from last year's article is almost certainly low. UH flight plans up in air Honolulu Star-Bulletin IAA Central Arkansas is getting $125,000 (net) next year, making the payout total cost around $500,000 (if not higher, depnding on fuel prices) to UH.

Yes. The mainland football team is allowed to add an extra game to their schedule (much as a mainland hockey team gets an extra two-game series).
-
Agree totally. Also, last year Hawaii was offering a $750,000 guarantee for one game. Sure it won't be as much for a IAA, but effectively this gives UND a "bowl" game. IA schools that travel to Hawaii during the regular season often have a lower bowl following in the post-season as many of their fan's travel budgets were already blown. Since UND won't be in the playoffs anyway, it beats heading to Youngstown. UND is not listed yet, but 2010 appears to have openings. Hawai'i's 2009-2012 Non-conference Schedule

With six home games, Cal Poly will probably get the largest total attendance, but UND is still in the running for highest average attendance. The difficulty with both Colgate (and earlier, Cal Poly) in scheduling another game has to do with budgets (and UND being a non-counter). Both Colgate and Cal Poly had road games scheduled that were cancelled. For either to have scheduled a home game, they would have needed to cover much of the opponent's (e. g. UND's) travel cost. Since both schools had already sold season tickets for their existing home schedule, they kind of get in a bind to gain any revenue from an additional home game: charge everyone an additional cost (which would tic over season ticket holders) or let them in free (and not recoup the cost). The same would be true for UND: an extra $120 + hadn't been budgeted for another team to travel to GF - and if it had, season tickets would have been more costly upfront. N Mexico State basically needed another home game (their home game was cancelled) to satisfy ticket holders that had already paid for a cancelled game.

NDSU's freshmen enrollment increase is incredible. With freshmen from Minnesota accounting for the majority of NDSU freshmen, one has to wonder how much NDSU's win over UM legitimized NDSU as a choice among Minnesota high school students - especially in the Cities. With the freshman classes at NDSU becoming even larger, one has to wonder where NDSU enrollment will stabilize: 15,000, 16,000? Higher ed personnel in Minnesota, especially SCSU, MSU-Mankato, UM-Duluth etc , have to be livid about the number of higher-performing students that NDSU and, to a lesser extent, UND are taking from their state.
