Hammersmith: Your ignorance in Christian matters is showing. Pentecostals are not fundamentalists: fundamentalists generally follow a certain set of tenants and are generally leary of outward spiritual expression. Jerry Falwell almost certainly would not send his children to the Prayer Camp in question, but Pentecostals as well Lutheran, Methodist, non-denominational and Catholic parents with charismatic leanings would. Contrary to what has been stated on this thread, Pentecostalism is actually becoming the mainstream of Christianity. Denominations that do not emphasize the development the spirituality of their memberships are rapidly declining and will probably not exist within two generations. http://www.religionlink.org/tip_060130.php North Dakota actually has had a major impact on pentecostal movement, which is just 100 years old and now includes a half billion people worldwide. No other Christian movement as ever impacted so many people so quickly. The two major Pentecostal denominations in this country both have had leaders that proved critical to the growth of Pentecostalism that were born and raised in North Dakota. Phil Jackson's parent were Pentecostal ministers in Williston. A revolution has already occurred in Christianity. The press just missed reporting it by 100 years.

I personally happen to believe that USD has already been doing some heavy politicking with the MidCon. Wasn't it strange that during the MidCOn visit to Brookings, that half the MidCon contingent went off to Sturgis to meet with the South Dakota Regents. Was the MidCon concerned that SDSU didn't have the wherewithall to stay in DI? Or was a certain President, named Abbott, pulling strings behind the scenes and stipulating that another SD school be added later for the benefit of all South Dakota's universities? Would seem Abbott knows how to play the South Dakota political system, especially when SDSU had a lameduck outsider President like Miller. So what exactly did Abbott arrange, aff? Could it be that USD will also soon become a member of the MidCon. When WKU leaves the Gateway, will the next three schools the Gateway takes be USD, SDSU, and NDSU? Am I concerned?

How could something be under the rug when it is plainly published by the IAC? NDSU chooses not to open their numbers to public scrutiny is such a way. Why not? It is well known that UND women's hockey scholarships are, in large part, funded by tuition waivers, which is a major reason why there is a deficit on paper, yet athletic bills continue to be paid. On an institutional bases, UND waives substantially less in tuition than NDSU. Where's the outrage in Bisonville about that? Should all the out-of-state posters on Siouxsports be complaining in e-mails to the NDUS about the tuition waiver policies at NDSU? I was outspoken on both those issues. I also happen to believe that Kupchella and Buning have a lot more information on both of those issues than any member of the public and certainly me. Are their big donors coming? Will sports be dropped? Kupchella response to DI backers always seemed to be: "show me the money." IMO, someone has, and more. Whether you chose to believe it or not, UND is much better set up for a DI move than NDSU was from a facility standpoint and a media outlet. NDSU's been talking about a BSA upgrade for years now, and it still hasn't happened. In spite of the "disaster" that is UND athletic financials, there seems to be an lot of confidence within the department of building a practice facility and even a new outdoor stadium. Funny. I said the same thing about NDSU's moves because they were never forthcoming about their financial issues and (still) have major facility upgrades to do. When Taylor opens the NDSU athletic books, you'll have the right to bellyache. Right now, you are just whining.

Sioux City Journal: USD and Augie to DI By dropping scholarships for football, a DI move for Augustana could actually be cost neutral. Also, if Sioux Falls ever built a new arena, a DI Augustana in the Sioux Falls market could actually be more attractive, in the long-term, to the Missouri Valley Conference than SDSU and certainly moreso than USD. Earlier, the UND move to DI had been considered likely to open the door for the DAC's to move to DII.

That letter by Mr. Kchats pales in comparison to the letters to the editor that he wrote to at least two North Dakota papers (the Forum and Herald) back in July. How papers even publish such moronic ideas as in this one is in beyond belief:

Good grief! This journalist sucked you guys right in. Has anyone ever considered the possibility of journalistic biases and agendas? If any set of people are aware of the danger of idol worship, it is pentecostals, and they avoid it like the plague.

It's been the only consistent theme of your previous posts! So, if, there are spiritual forces out there wanting to destroy and discredit faith, where would they attack first? And Christian movements in that last two millenniums are largely responsible for the establishment of hospitals, for care of the invalid and handicapped, for the abolishment of slavery, for child-welfare laws, for education, for liberty , for non-violent peace movements, for civil rights, for women

GaryP: I do believe your atheistical biases are showing. If your supposition held true, the private Christian schools in this country would be the centers of violence. Perhaps if Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and Jeff Wiese, kids known to be into the occult, would have attended a similar camp, no one would ever have heard of the Red Lake or Coumbine school massacres in our time.

Actually, Christianity does teach, and actually agrees with Hinduism, ancient Hellenic beliefs, and tribal religions, that they are literally dozens or thousands of different gods or spiritual enties out there that desire worship. Christianity differs with with them in believeing that there is only one god that is truly Holy.

Actually, children are more capable of comprending spiritual concepts than adults are. Most adults reject, discredit, and/or are ignorant of the unseen spiritual world. Children have a natural hunger to understand it, so they find it in substitute places/literature like Harry Potter.

Central shocks Eastern Just like the UND-UNI game, CWU did not receive any breaks:

Casper Star-Tribune: When ambition exceeds talent

Yahoo is reporting it as final: Big SKy scores. If I'm not mistaken, CWU is well below the NCC's scholarship limits and around 1/3rd of EWU's levels, making CWU's win all the more impressive. CWU may very well be in a chase for a post-season berth.

This year will NOT be a repeat of last year; they'll keep improving, trust me. Seriously, though, the intangibles with these team seem better: i.e. comeback against Central Washington and the drives against UNI. BTW, interesting score out west: C Washington 21, (I-AA) E. Washington 14

For a Division I transition, someone from outside UND (especially outside GF) is actually a priority. So lo and behold Tom Buning was appointed last year. Once the transition is completed and UND is established in DI, I would be surprised if Buning stays around, expecially if he gets an opportunity with a higher level school. That's just the way things should be - people have a need to grow and experience different challenges. For the next AD, when a knowledge of alumni and insiders becomes more important again, who would UND turn to? Someone like Bollinger, who now would also have an experience leading a college foundation, could be a prime candidate IMO.

Sure does, doesn't he. Also, thought this was a rather cool post on Panthernation: http://www.panthernation.com/showpost.php?...p;postcount=115

Probably a lot of fans (including myself), are interested in any ND athlete who is being pursued by several major programs. Jessica needs to do what's best for her and we need to wish her much success whatever her decision.

Some very complimentary words about Sioux fans from a UNI poster on Anygivensaturday.com: http://www.anygivensaturday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13449

Been wondering if a lawsuit will be filed only after the NCAA's policy causes UND to lose home field advantage in the playoffs. Wouldn't UND's case be that much stronger if UND can show it actually suffered a "loss" because of the NCAA's policy? Going into this year, football and women's basketball this spring should most likely offer that opportunity. Since a football home field advantage is so dependent on one or two games, every win is crucial. Now, with the points garnered by an away win at a DIAA field, UND will get major points, and should easily be leading the Northwest Region.
-
Beyond the offensive totals by the Sioux, the stat that is most eye-opening is that UNI has zero turnovers, while UND effectively had two that hurt badly: the fumble at the one-yard line and the blocked punt late in the 4th. Has UND ever had a speed duo like Dressler/Chappell at skill positions? UNI had to have been surprised by Chappell's moves and speed.

Hopefully, this does not apply: THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY ... is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results.

Thunderbird's The Word: British Columbia's bid to join NCAA gets hockey people talking A conference commissioner, WCHA's McLeod, speaks on UBC's NCAA bid:

Would hate to see your dark side. BTW, you never responded to the substance of what I posted - your lack of understanding of core membership issues. Glad you found it amusing. The "sniff test" is always a money test. UNC helped the Big Sky get on the Altitude network. If the Big Sky had chosen NDSU/SDSU, the Denver-based Altitude network would have had practically no interest in the covering Big Sky athletics. Adding UNC meant more media exposure and $'s. Adding NDSU/SDSU would have meant less, so effectively by a number of measures (i.e. travel, media exposure, media contracts, and revenue/conference member), adding UNC was a winner, while adding NDSU/SDSU was a financial loser for the other schools. The potential conference revenue that would be generated from the addition of DU/UND/UBC, after being dispersed among 12 schools rather than nine, and after additional expense (like travel to Grand Forks), would be greater than what the conference currently pays out. If the AD's of the Big Sky see more dollars coming back to their schools by expanding the conference --> they'll say yes. If the presidents see enhanced financials and enhance academics, they'll say yes. The major issue with NDSU/SDSU's bid for the Big Sky was that NDSU/SDSU never gave a business case for how Sac. St., Portland St etc would financially benefit. Financially it was a win (NDSU/SDSU) - win (Montana/MSU) -lose (the rest) proposition. Any UND attempt to get in the Big Sky has to be a win-win-win-win situation and a DU/UND/UBC has the potential to provide that.

Absolutely incorrect. If this was the case, the ACC would have added West Virginia, East Carolina, and Virginia Tech, when their original targets were Miami, Boston College, and Syracuse. Virginia Tech was added in spite of its smaller media market after political pressure was applied, not because their football team is excellent. A school like UBC, with 4 million potential viewers, brings much more to the table to the conference than SUU could ever dream. For that matter, because UBC is a first-tier school in their region, UBC brings much more than PSU or Sac.
