Why didn't he do this last year then when he had better numbers?
-
I agree. Quite frankly, I hope they are both back. They certainly make the league more exciting. Like TV, Bo is dealing with a very frugal team. Therefore, I don't think all hope for his return can be lost at this point.
-
From today's Forum: Bochenski said he is discussing financial terms with the club. "If they get there (to acceptable terms) in August, then I'll go. If they don't, then I won't," he said. (This was included in PCM's USCHO article). Hakstol said, "I wouldn't be surprised to see him back . . . (but) I certainly wouldn't count on it, I think our plans are in place whether or not Brandon's back." Bo said if he cannot work things out in Ottawa, he'll be excited to return to UND for one more season. "It's not a bad place to go back to."

Being good enough to play somewhere and actually getting a chance to play at that same place are two entirely different things. Often times politics play a part in whether a player makes high school team and, therefore, it would stand to reason that someone may be good enough, but not be afforded the opportunity, to play for that program.

Very informative. As always, nice work.

Saying skates knows nothing about hockey is the equivalent of saying you are good with spelling and punctuation. Both are categorically inaccurate statements. Take your jive talk somewhere else and start paying attention in class!

What's the view like way out on your limb?
-
Although he was a great college hockey player, I cannot envision Hrkac being a candidate, but the fact that he was just resigned by Nashville the other day seems to make him a nonfactor.
-
PCM, Ignore the all chumps and keep doing what you are doing. It is nice to read posts here from one of the very few individuals that is credible, reliable, trustworthy AND has access to the players and coaches.
-
You are right, I was in deep denial. I convinced myself that sooner or later you would post something, anything sensible and worth reading, but, alas, your posts make it painfully clear that you are not capable of doing so. btw, there is humor in the irony that other people getting "worked up" bothers you, yet other people getting "worked up" clearly gets you worked up. You have become what you despise.

Minnesota probably pulled their scholarship offer leaving Chorney with no choice but to go to UND! At least that is the typical spin out of Goofer country, isn't it?! Off topic - yeah, ahem, the new REA, ahem, really lacks, ahem, atmosphere. The above statement coming from a former Sioux player who played in the old REA during what could arguably be considered UND's heyday during the early 80's when the Sioux consistently put great and exciting teams on the ice . . . and he's never heard a rink "so loud." That is certainly a great endorsement and obviously, the atmosphere at the REA played some role in UND landing the younger Chorney, a topnotch recruit!
-
That is assuming DB knew for some time that he was going to leave and had the Columbus contract sitting on his desk in the REA and just held off signing it, which is VERY doubtful. The timing of his departure was not the greatest, but it would seem that the timing of the CBJ offer is entirely out of his control . . . at least that is what I would like to believe. Keep in mind the NHL season just ended a few weeks ago and June is typically a hot time at that level for signing and resigning coaches and players. Although I didn't want to see DB leave, for me this situation doesn't minimize the amount of class he has or what he did for UND.

You are not giving it enough credit . . . it is without question the lamest cheer in all of sports.

Being a low-level FSC member, my opinion doesn't mean diddly to the REA folks, but I am really interested in hearing what the "big dogs" that pay $25,000 per year, give or take, for their suites on the ends have to say once they find out they will be watching games through netting. It promises to be an interesting battle . . . . .
-
I agree completely. I sit directly behind the net that UND defends twice and will now have to watch entire games through the netting. Despite the location of my seats I take my very young children to games and have no concerns about flying pucks. Then again, I am there to watch hockey. For me, having to watch great hockey through mesh will certainly take a lot of the enjoyment out of the game(s). DB said that they built the arena with extra tall glass behind the nets to combat the number of pucks that leave play. He also said as long as he was the coach there, protective netting would not be an issue. I am guessing this is one of the many issues he and REA management were rumored to be at odds over.
-
Beaverson was the 283 pick this year. The 282 pick last year? Chris Porter!
-
I heard recently that REA has put protective netting up on the rink ends and was told it would remain in place for the upcoming Sioux hockey season. I was hoping someone with some ties to the arena could provide some insight and confirm the veracity of the rumor. If it is up, will it stay up throughout the 04-05 season?
-
ESPN ran a scroll across the screen over the noon hour indicating that the CBJ's are set to announce Gallant as their new head coach. Sorry Goofer fans!
-
I hope DB isn't leaving and doubt that he is, but the one positive, if that is possible in such a situation, is at least KG would get a fair shot at showing what he can do against the big boys in the NHL.
-
He backed up Jensen and Iwabuchi in 1980 and Jensen and Casey in 1982. Jensen was the winning goaltender in both games.
-
Not in the two categories that are most important. Edit - DAR beat me to the punch!
-
Wow, an outlandish comment from a typically level-headed poster. So, you are saying that if UND makes it to Columbus the other three teams will all have better goaltenders no matter who the competition is AND you are throwing around that conjecture in June? Hmmmm . . . . . What is in the water down the last few days? Of late, we have WPoS stirring the pot and Sagard making an uncharacteristic comment. Does Ballard leaving really have all you Goofer fans reeling that badly?
-
You sound like a St. Cloud fan now. I don't understand that mentality. Hey, we just made the NCAA tourney, let's hang a banner. Hey, our goalie outplayed one of your goalies at the end of the season, let's hang a banner. Jeez . . . . Your statement implies that you are content with Brigg's giving up EIGHT goals in two WCHA playoff games and then looking shaky at best in the first against Notre Dame and then performing poorly against UMD and NOT making the Frozen Four? Knowing your passion for the Gophs, I would expect more out of you, whether you are just "stirring" the pot or not. Objectively speaking based on numbers, Briggs was very average last year backstopping what should have been a powerhouse and his numbers are less than desireable any way you cut it, but hey, if you can find a moral victory in mediocrity, more power to you.
