  1. somebison, The OPE numbers are from 2002-2003. I'm still trying to figure out how a football program can have expenses of $131,000 when their men's head coaches average salary is $53,000 and they have five assistant coaches, where the average men's assistant salary is $36,000. The players must have to furnish their own shoes, tape, etc. On a side note, it looks like some DII schools have(had) more football scholarships than DI-AA schools. [(36+28) > 63]
  2. They're projections, and should be taken as such. What were the projections for UND FY03? Did they show $390k in red ink? Projections don't hit the pocketbook. Until somebody creates a crystal ball that actually works, projected budgets are nothing more than a slightly educated guess. What actually matters is the ink that the actual revenue and expenses are written in.
  3. To make FY05 actual revenue (real world $) meet or exceed FY05 expenditure projections (fictional world $).
  4. And now we're back to fictional numbers. star2city made the claim that UND's budget was in better shape to make a transition to DI. Add an extra $1M for travel and increased scholarships, and it doesn't look so great. I guess we'll have to wait for the official 2003-2004 numbers and quit talking about budget proposals.
  5. Note the use of the term "projected" in the link you proved. There's a difference between wishful thinking and reality. On the OEP.gov site UND lost nearly $390,000 for 2002-2003.
  6. Nearly a $400k shortfall last year, and UND's budget is in check?
  7. I thought it was supposed to be released at 6 pm. It's uncharateristic of the NCAA to drag their feet on anything
  8. That was last year's regional selection-LINK Note the date- May 11, 2003
  9. Interesting, as this is what was reported to the government for 2002-2003: From-LINK
  10. The Sicatoka, What year was Kupchella's letter talking about? On one of my favorite government websites, OPE Equity in Athletics Disclosure Website it shows UND's 2002-2003 athletic expenses to be $6.7 million, .
  11. Tony, Those of us with Spring Game rosters saw that Chapman is listed at 5'8.5", 176. I believe Lamar Gordon came into NDSU at about 170-175. Weight is easy to put on (Eat, Lift, Sleep, rinse and repeat, mileage may vary), but speed is something that's not easy to improve. One can become faster, but a kid that runs a 5.4 40 isn't going to drop to a 4.4 40 very easily. I'm guessing Dressler and Washington will add some excitement and big play ability to their respective teams.
  12. The Fargodome has held ice shows, but it doesn't have the refrigeration equipment to make ice for hockey, if that makes sense. Supposedly the cost of the equipment was way more than what it originally was budgeted for, and that's why they tried to have the other arena built by the Fargodome. The push for hockey left NDSU with Entzion.
  13. Correct.
  14. No. The hockey issue hasn't been touched since that AD that was from UND left NDSU.
  15. Here, I forgot these: [JOKE][/JOKE] I guess the ' ' wasn't sufficient.
  16. Research II was finished at least a month ago. Alien Technologies pushed back the date for their new building because they wanted to start production in Fargo immediately, and there was no way their facility could be built in that timeframe. Yes, Dr. Chapman's second office is nice. I believe that's maple in there.
  17. Sicatoka, This is what the buildings in the NDSU Research Technology Park are used for. The fourth building and the building for Alien Technology are still in the works.
  18. FOX news reported that the top 50% would need to score a 17 on the ACT as well. Maybe it isn't in effect yet. I guess a whopping 21 gets one in no matter where they finish in their class.
  19. Obviously, trying to take UND's lead on raising admission standards, Minnesota State Moorhead has anounced they will raise their standards for automatic admission. Not only does a potential student have to graduate in the top half of their class to gain automatic admission, now they also have to score a 17 on the ACT. btw- This isn't a joke, it was on the news
  20. That's because they have a larger variety and the same items priced 25-50% less at Varsity Mart.
  21. Sicatoka, As we are using an approximate figure of 2,500 for attendance, 16 out of 121 DI-AA schools averaged less than 2,500 for football last year. 60 out of 150 DII schools failed to meet that mark last year. There's overlap in football attendance between divisions. NDSU and two HBCU's would be the only DII schools in the top 30 for I-AA attendance last year. There were 43 I-AA schools that had better attendance than the worst I-A school last year. Only 8 DII schools (one of which will no longer be DII ) could say that. short version- DI-AA attendance is greater than DII attendance. doclenz, Holy Plasticman, Batman! What a stretch! Slamming the schedule of an unconfirmed opponent of NDSU? Better check the schedule of the team from the conference so nice, they play each other twice. (Central Washington)
  22. The same can be said about NDSU's womens basketball averaging more fans per home game in the 2003-2004 season than Ferris State or Mesa State averaged for football in the 2003 season. Central Washington did average almost 500 more for football than Bison women's basketball, but 40% of DII football programs did not average as much as Bison women's basketball. btw-Drake football averaged more than UND women's basketball in 2003/2004.
  23. Frankie, How about those LSU fans commenting about the Ohio State/ Michigan rivalry?
