Is it the "Fire and Ice" one from Football America or whatever?

It seats 6,100- McLeod Center Groundbreaking

star2city, It's very interesting that the first link you provided is only questioning the validity of the second link you provided The person who posting the "Thanks, but no thanks" message has the credible source of "the word on the street". Also of interesting note- some of these-(from the same board)- Mid-Con possibilities Future Mid-Con membership NDSU/SDSU good for the Mid-Con if the Big Sky doesn't take them first

A facilities "arms race" was- and it was started with a quote from the Ohio State University AD, whose program has a 100k seat football stadium.
-
As long as it is within the means of the university. A football stadium with 100k seating wouldn't make much sense in the state of ND. Would a $100MM+ hockey arena have made sense for UND if it had not been donated to UND?
-
I'm still looking for the school with a $10MM budget that has over $50MM in profits from one sport. IF a school's athletic program generates positive revenue, IF they can afford good coaches to keep their program winning, etc., etc., etc., THEN they should look at upgrading facilities to increase revenue potential (Geiger's goal for spending money on facilities). If a school with a $10MM budget builds a $300MM stadium but doesn't have the successful team, finances, or a potential fanbase to fill the seats, it's not a smart idea to be part of the "arms race". A "Build it and they will come" mentality is better left to Hollywood .

I'd like to see a school with a $10MM athletic budget that has a football stadium that seats over 100k (and is sold out at every game). That's a facility that generates revenue, the larger part of the "college athletics arms race". Geiger's quote is akin to Bill Gates saying, "I don't care about money. Creating great software that doesn't crash is where the technology race is."
-
I have to question the validity of that statement. What else would a university with the largest athletic budget, with profits exceeding $20 million a year spend the money on. "The race" for a university with an $80 million budget isn't the same as a university with a $10 million dollar budget.

Massey's rankings, along with most other "rankings", are pretty much useless until five or six games into the season. Not enough data.
-
From what I remember, they're more of a pass-first, three-step drop sort of team. Somewhat like SCSU. Lots of quick slants, etc. The 2002 CW team was pretty loaded with transfers, etc. and UND had one of their worst seasons in recent history that year. UND-45 CW-7 Digger with a TD

Try watching the news or shortly thereafter (WDAx or KVLY 10:00)- They start off with some of the players in an empty Alerus Center warming up and tossing the football around. Then it says something like "Without you...... it's just a game." Then it cuts to game highlights and the rockin tunes that seem to be prevalent in football commercials. As I said earlier, it's a pretty good TV ad(way better than last year's).
-
I believe there is a buyout clause (penalty) for not giving the 18 month notification. It wasn't outrageous- something like $25k. If the money is there to move to DI, it would be a nonfactor.

The TV ads have been picking up in Fargo this week.

DSU's enrollment was 3,827 for the 2002/2003 school year. That is sad that they can't meet the admission criteria.

Emory- 4 NCAA national championships Johns Hopkins- 3 NCAA national championships

The correct spelling is DI-AA, typo-boy.

Wow, one person wearing a shirt causes this much commotion. I was up in the Grand Cities two weekends ago, and saw three guys wearing the "Buck the Fison" shirts. I just chuckled.

Check your PM's. I took it off because you were hotlinking the picture, which is a violation of your ISP agreement and wasting the bandwidth I pay for. If anyone really wants to see the picture I have no problem emailing it to whoever, and you can host it so nickelboy can waste your bandwidth.

Nice criteria btw- half of those four (that's two) were men's teams.

I'm sure The Forum's coverage of UND will stay the same as it has been in previous years. Wow, a little jab is given in an editorial- File that under all the jabs to NDSU by Virg Foss, Ryan Bakken, etc. of the Herald in the "Who cares?" pile . I guess Concordia alums should cancel their subscriptions to The Forum because they don't get as much coverage as NDSU. It's not as if The Forum is taking the national media's stance that these were the only football games played on saturday- Football Scores

Nothing- whining about NDSU's $5 tickets that have to be purchased in a lot of 20 when UND offers free tickets to over 10,000 people in the region is a different story. Nothing wrong with free tickets at all- but stones in glass houses do pose a problem.
-
Pretty good analysis UND92,96. There are a few other factors that contribute to NDSU's diminished attendance late in the season, some of which I don't want to talk about. I would like to see both UND and NDSU sell out their respective football venues (all season long). Hopefully it would help North Dakota high school football increase it's level of play.

$5 is more than free to all military personnel in the region.
