  1. I'm not so sure on that. First the womens team has had much greater success than the men, so it should be harder for an incomming player to make an impact, right. Well that doesn't seem to be the case. The men had 4 freshman and sophmores that played this past season, the women had 6 with 2 of the freshman playing just a few spot minutes. Total points contributed by the 4 men were 532pts while the top 4 women contributed 739 pts. 280 of the men's 532 were by sophmore Bledsoe, the only one of the men to have more than 100 pts while on the women's side soph Seay 217 pts, freshman Youngblut had 204 pts, soph Ledger 196 pts and soph Bergan 122pts. Granted maybe none of these will put up the carrer numbers that Langen and Kimbrough have or will, but don't take anything away from them.
  2. Enrollment numbers have nothing to do with quality of education!
  3. From looking at this and the women's schedule it doesn't look like many double headers the only date from above that matches it January 13. If the Men don't improve and or get some better teams to come to town this is going to kill attendance, as we know the last few years the Betty would be pretty sparse after halftime as many of the fans came to watch the women's game and only stuck around for some of the men's game.
  4. Congrat's to Ashley. She should be very successfull and what a great experience. I was surprised that Krisiti Boese didn't do something like this, maybe she had no desire.
  5. No, I don't know of any that are very good.
  6. I think it is great 1st year schedule, and there are a few big time womens programs on the schedule: Iowa State, Wyoming, Wisconsin Green Bay all being very good women's basketball schools, then add Vermont and Arkansas 2 other flagship schools, and the MAC schools there are going to be many challenges for the team. It will be a great tester to see where the level of play is and where it will need to be to compete with the best at this next level. I believe Iowa State, Wyoming and Green Bay were all NCAA trny teams and several of the others were NIT teams.
  7. What is the hold up, the names of the finalists were forwarded some time ago. This delay would seem to mean maybe they are taking a look at the late arriving applicant. If the delay continues much longer one of the other finalists may very well pull themselves from the process.
  8. The loss to USD now don't seem near as bad do they, too many of you that were so down on the Sioux at the time. Usd will not be the same next year without the twins and Robinette. Yes they will have some good players back but those girls are the heart and sole of that team without a doubt.
  9. Sounds like we may have a schedule very similar to this, acording to the article in the paper we may have as many as 20 D1 teams, I have heard several in California ( could be great west teams) and several tourneys around Thanksgiving and Xmas with good teams, probably not many home games with good teams, I hear this is the hardest thing, and looking at SDSU's schedule that looks like the issue they had also. I hope we are teaming up with USD to try and get some teams 2 games for 1 trip which just make sense. Good Luck to USD tonight.
  10. Thursday game should be great, alot on the line for both teams. There has to be a better tie breaker than a flip of a coin if the Sioux were able to get the win. Anyone know what that would be? I hope the Sioux can let it all hang out much like they have been since the first meeting. The guards all seem to be shooting better and Kierah and Ashley have turned it up a notch also. Hopefully we can force more than 4 turnovers this time around.
  11. When will the first regional rankings come out it should be pretty soon shouldn't it. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner of the NCC may end up having 2 loses this year. Which could spell trouble as far as hosting the regional. I do think Concordia will lose but maybe not twice.
  12. The student section Saturday was worthless, they sat on their hands and did nothing to help the Sioux or to hinder USD! Come on can someone get those kids into the game.
  13. Let's all get to the games Saturday they should both be good games. USD is now ranked #10 in women's and #3 in men's. Let's get 2 big Sioux wins!! The Betty needs to rumble, let's sell it out!! New start time of 2:30.
  14. Bakken is off his rocker, yes I agree if the girls aren't ready for any conference game be it Thursday or Saturday they could get beat, but no way does MSU have better athletes, or not even close to the best DII Coach in the country. You may not always agree with everything Coach Roebuck does but his record isn't matched by anyone. May be if the girls see this it will serve as alittle extra motivation to kick some tail and then maybe Bakken will start to believe, the idea is to peak in March, it's not about peaking in November or December, it's about getting better and learning to play together, that seems to me is exactly what the Sioux have done is keep progressing each week.
  15. If the shooting % can stay up to what it has been the last 4 games things will go well, however I think the defensive presure will be a notch up from those games. It's going to take our guards handling the ball and making some outside shots, so that Ashley and Keirah can get it done inside. We need to keep the turnovers down and not waste possesions. Let's Go Sioux !!!!
  16. This is week is where the seperation could begin. Should be 2 good test for the women this week with both on the road. St Cloud is down but it not an easy place to win at and everyone will be gunning to take down UND. Min St should be a good game Saturday, UND needs to put it's foot down this week and get 2 wins.
  17. On the Sioux Boosters video someone asked about Baagason and Coach Kelling said she would not be back this year and they hope to have her around for 2 more years after this. "Hope" seems like a strange word to use. Is the injury worse than first thought? Great game tonight, 84% shooting in the second half. Hope they can keep the shooting touch going.
  18. Any update on the condition of LaFrance and Baagy.
  19. It isn't going to be any easier next year with a mostly D1 schedule.
  20. After Saturday I'd agree. We need to shoot much better from the perimeter, but the guards did a much better job handling the ball, granted Montana St was not the same as Metro. Jossy looked much more like herself Saturday. Coach Roebuck mentioned on the post game that they hadn't been working on their shooting as much as they will, remember after the exhibition he said they were going to concentrate on defense. The outside shooting will come and when Baggy gets back that should also be a good boost. The great thing Langen looks like she is alot better conditioned than at the start of last season.
  21. Another Big Tem team got beat by a D2 school last night. Findlay beat Ohio State 70-68, just wait till January and we'll all hear how tough the big ten is. There simply is alot of talent out there these days and it's spread around alot.
  22. Metro State, UND's first opponent also beat a D1 school last night. They beat Colorado State 54-42. The 1st game of the season should be a good one. Hope the girls survive the defensive practices Coach Roebuck talked about on the post game last week.
  23. South Dakota women beat UNI by 30 last night. UNI plays Maryland later this season at Maryland imagine how that will come out. I think this shows again that the better teams in the NCC women's basketball will fair very well with the mid majors. The NCC may very well be tougher than the MVC. I hope the Sioux have MVC schools on the schedule for next year.
  24. Who won the 3 point contest and the slam dunk contest.
