  1. Well according to everyone on this site Fargo Oak Grove could get a win against Valpo so I'm sure in your mind that both said schools would hang at least 50 on Valpo. If bringing up Valpo makes you feel better, please continue to do so, go with what works for you. I'm not going to try and tell you they were an outstanding or even an OK team, they weren't, but it was a big deal becasue it was the beginning of NDSU's transition, one that has gone pretty well although some said it would fail. I agree Dave, UND should promote the hell out of all their games be it a FCS, FBS, DII, DIII or NAIA. Hell I remember going to the Montana Tech game, I didn't care who NDSU was playing, I just wanted to go to a game. By the way, since when is SCSU a perennial D2 contender? Kingsville, not so sure about that either, but it doesn't matter, just go to the damn games.
  2. 2007 results SCSU 4-7 TX AM Kingsville 3-8 Listen, I don't really care, but let's not get carried away with these two teams. I think we all know scheduling is tough right out of the gate, it is what it is and you make the best of it. Enjoy the new teams coming into GF and support your team is the best advice I could give, not that anyone is asking, but I'll toss it out there anyway.
  3. Hmmm, where did they go to school? Do you guys really think it is all that amazing that UND alum/fans drive 70 miles to see a hockey game? In ND driving 70 miles is nothing, it's an hour in the car. I think it's great Fargo is getting a USHL team and I'm glad to see tickets are selling well. I wonder what ticket sales would be like if they were playing in the old rink up on the north side of town, probably pretty low. Season ticket sales for Bison hoops is not great or even good at this point but I think when/if the new addition to the Fargodome is done you will see season ticket sales go up quite a bit. What happened to season ticket sales when you got your new hockey arena? Funny what a new arena will do for ticket sales isn't it.
  4. I think it's a good start for UND. This class reminds me of UND in the late 80's early 90's with Guldseth, Robertson and Gardner, all very good ND high school players. I hope they all do well, always good to see ND kids play at a higher level. I like that Jones is red shirting all of these kids to start, very much like what Miles did at SU and it's hard to argue with the results so far. Recruiting in the transition phase will be tough for anyone, so starting the foundation with talent in your own back yard is a good way to go. I don't think UND fans or most college basketball fans for that matter want to see the team loaded with JC kids. A filler here and there will probably be needed, but to build the program you need to get good four year players. I do wish one of the three would have walked on at SU, Mertens if I had to pick one, but like I said earlier, I hope they all do well.
  5. You are right Sultan, we will never know and I guess it really doesn't matter much too be honest. He'll receive a good education at UND and he'll get to continue playing basketball on a full scholarship. So did he receive scholarship offers from Weber St and Montana St.? Or was UND the only DI school to offer him? Just for the record, from what I've heard, I think Travis can play, so that is not a slam against him, just an honest question. You are right, The Forum did list the football players, but I don't recall an article on the walk ons. The list also came out on signing day, not a few weeks after. But I agree, they probably would have had a paragraph or two on a basketball walk on. You are right in your last sentence, he did chose UND over NDSU and again best of luck to him. But to compare offers is kind of like comparing apples and oranges.
  6. That's a good question Sultan. I don't really remember The Forum covering walk ons in the past but I could be wrong. Did Montana State offer him a scholarship or was he asked to walk on there too? Good luck to Travis, I hope his two years at UND are good ones.
  7. Only time will tell Roger, good luck. Love your screen name by the way..... It was out of my reach, what do you want me to do dive for it?
  8. dl, the hate is just eating you up isn't it....Neither NDSU or Team Makers bought rings for the Bison players last year, come on man, get a clue. I did hear conference rings were awarded when they won the Great West a year ago, if you want to call those phony rings, feel free, it's your conference now. Now what's this about Taylor calling a press conference about thousands of UND students?
  9. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black, but I guess it's a Sue board. OK, I normally don't do that, it's Sioux, but come on dlsiouxfan, that's pretty weak. Cow college, good one. Please tell us about doing things the right way? Would it be calling a press conference, talking about the evils of DI and that UND has no interest in it. What confernce are you in? I thought going it alone was insane. What changed DL? Good luck to Mr. Faison, really, I mean it and to UND on a successful transition.
  10. Honest question here, why did Mertens end up and Lake Region in the first place? If he's as good as most say, you would think he would have ended up at a high level DII or a regional DI like the two SU's or UNI. From everything I've heard about him, the kid can play. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Bison uniform, but like someone else mentioned earlier I don't think we have the scholarships available considering NDSU's need for a post player, he'd have to walk on and hope for one after year one. In any case, I hope he lands at a DI school, always nice to see ND kids play at the highest level.
  11. Nice article Star, who wrote it and where did he go to college? I'll be the first to admit the Valpo and Montana Tech games weren't great, but don't try to pass this garbage from the Minot paper off as an unbiased article.
  12. Any word on Matheson from Walhalla/North Border? I know he was going to redshirt and is probably a bit of a project, just wondering if anyone knows how he is coming along.
  13. Wow, sad really, come on Bob you can do better than this, really you can. What does coach Bohl have to do with who is headed to SIU with coach Lennon?
  14. Really, where would that be? The only two jobs that I know of that are availabe at this time are SMU and WV and I haven't heard coach Bolh's named mentioned nor do I expect it to be or were you referring to Augustana College? You silly Flickertails.............The truth is no one really knows, coaches and AD's do their best to keep this stuff pretty hush hush, just look at coach Miles move to CSU last year. Where was coach Lennon last weekend? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all at SS.
  15. Hey, I didn't mean anything more than what the question said, I think you read to much into it. Thanks for the reply though. I agree, I think both men are excellent coaches, just wondering what your experience was since you brought it up.
  16. So do you have a son that was recruited by both coaches or were you recruited by both? What year, just wondering.
  17. I never said UND wouldn't give the Bison a good game, I just don't think they are the toughest team NDSU has played to date. As to Homers invite for homecoming this weekend, let me first say thank you, if I didn't live 5 hours from GF I might take you up on that as I love college football and have several frineds who went to UND that will be at the game. I have no doubt I'd be impressed by the Sioux as their offense has put up some pretty damn good numbers to say the least. Good luck against Auggie this weekend and have a good homecoming.
  18. Thank you homer for making my day, I really needed a good laugh and thanks again for providing it.

    UND v SUU

Not to be a beer snob, but Fat Tire only comes in bottles as far as I know, but your point stands regards. Don't forget to bring an opener SYY. Feel free to come on down Diggler, I'll have a nice can of Orange Crush for you and I'll bring a straw too.

    UND v SUU

Comne on down and join us in the west lot, I'll keep a few 22oz Fat Tires chilled for you. Look for the MCI style bus that says Rollin' Thunder on it and stop on over, always nice to have a few Sioux fans around.
  22. Might have a little something to do with Dahl being a rookie and undrafted and in some eyes a long shot to make the Giants. Your boy Kuper is a second year pro, probably not as big of a story right now. Maybe it will be after say week one, give it some time and relax a bit. I don't recall Jimmy getting as much press his second year either. Dahl is on the 53 man roster. Congrats to Kuper!
  23. Maybe you should spend a little more time worrying about NAIA schools, your men's basketball team has had some issues with them as of late. Best of luck to the Sioux this year, make your last season in DII a good one. I'm very interested as are a lot of FCS fans with your game against Southern Utah next week. Although they are not a top end team they will put up a better fight than Humboldt did and I fully expect them to be better than last year. It should be a good game, best of luck with it and I hope UND represents the state of ND well.
  24. He's waiting on the Gophers, why would he sign with NDSU until he finds out what is going on with the UofM? Nice try though. If the U tells him no or to walk on and if it drags out until 7th, then you might have a point because of the family connections with UND.
  25. Great win for the Sioux, Dale had his men ready to play no doubt about it. Enjoy the win, your guys earned it today as they never quit which is something to admire.
