Wow - I just read this on the Forum website!

I e-mailed the NDSBofHE this morning with my thoughts about Chapman and his spending. I received a prompt response that my message would be immediately provided to all Board members. MY COMMENTS TO THE BOARD HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UND VS. NDSU ISSUE, it is simply WRONG what is happening with Chapman's house, his expense habits, his wife's salary, etc. I live 1,500+ miles from North Dakota (but still pay ND taxes) and it is surprising how many people have heard about this and are wondering how this could have happened. I don't like be laughed at, neither should the Board - or NDSU for that matter!

I echo the welcome to UND and Grand Forks. I am sure you will enjoy all UND athletics! I hope you post on SS often! It would be good to hear from you from time to time about your perspective of how UND rates vs. Oregon (or any other DI program) in running their Athletic Department (marketing, the level of excitement at events, professionalism, etc.). Obviously, what you will see at UND will be on a smaller scale but I would be interested in your thoughts.

I agree with some of the points you make in your last two posts but another reason we need a name and logo is for merchandising purposes. We need all the $ we can get by offering as many different items as possible with variations of the name and logo. If we were only the U of North Dakota, those options would be severely curtailed. I would agree that, if we need to give up the FS name, we go without a nickname for a couple of years until everyone has calmed down a bit. There would be a lot of opposition to whatever new name or logo was chosen if the decision was made right away.

Any updates on injuries from last week: Magstadt, Hawkins, etc.?
