They lost a significant percentage of scoring at the end of last year, and have a high percentage of freshmen starters. I get that everyone likes to gloat on this, and yes their schedule could use toughening, but I’m pretty sure they grow into this season. Time will tell.

When Omaha makes it to the Frozen Faceoff, I’ll start taking them seriously. Otherwise, they’re just the team that looks good at the beginning, because of their schedule, then fades away by end of season. I will say they do play well against North Dakota. Typically never easy games. However they need to be more consistent against other NCHC teams.

    Thought she was fine

at least midco is trying new things

would be nice if the spot they broadcast from was a little quieter

I thought she was ok as well. Can tell it’s something that’s starting from scratch. Plenty of room and time to improve. Agree, they should change the location to somewhere else. Hell, it might be quieter in the concourse area!

At what point, did you think UND had a chance? Sure we had discussions and maybe an offer…

Kid was wearing Gopher gear as a young lad, and has family and friends in MN that lead him to Shattuck.

After reading that article, definitely seems like UND was a long shot. I feel like a lot of people got their hopes up though when Mark Divver(I think?) tweeted that Eiserman was deciding between Minnesota, BU, and UND. Honestly, until he mentioned UND, the rumors I read was that it was between Minnesota and BU.

Would it be wrong for me to muse that UND should be all over Michigan's recruits in light of the Pearson fiasco (see non-UND hockey thread).

If Pearson is removed as head coach, are incoming and existing players on the team allowed to freely transfer immediately?

  5. Some initial thoughts on the Michigan hockey investigative report:

Insteas of scrolling through Twitter thread, he posted same on a website.

Doesn’t look good for Mel which in that case it is mind boggling that the university has kept him around and have held onto this report since early May to not have done anything yet when it’d be easy to do so since he’s not under contract.

I would give you a wide berth in the concourse area.  Because the Tiger logo tends to spin and bounce around - a lot!!

I think I might’ve laughed way too much reading this.

Floating tiger head apparel, I’d even have to buy one of those.

I assumed it had more to do with what James was doing. When James scoring took off, he bumped ahead of Spicer and the coaches made the decision to bring in the more “ready” player.
But I agree, it’ll be interesting to look back on this in a couple seasons to see if UND made the right call.

Agree, I’m sure that is part of it. I was more so guessing that it would’ve been a non-issue if all the seniors had concluded their time at UND. Berry & Co. took on the possibility of losing a recruit.

  8. UND also chose to assume the risk of Spicer leaving by having no room for him which was by their own doing. I sincerely hope it pays off for UND. It’ll be interesting to look back on this when the 22-23 season concludes and then again when Spicer is done at UMD.

If Berry's plan is to go all-in for next year, then I agree with him on keeping Senden/Hain.  Spicer has the potential to be a very good college player, but it might take him a year or two before he is a consistent producer.  Before his injury, Hain was our leading goal-scorer...if he is fully rehabbed and starts off next season in the same way as last, he could have a great year.

Spicer was the least prepared for college among our five forward recruits that could come in (supposedly)...we'll see next season if Berry made the correct call or not.

I am more amenable to Hain coming back as his senior season ended prematurely due to injury and for as much as I like Senden and the leadership he brings to the team, I just don’t think him returning moves the needle a whole lot to where someone would say “We really need him back!”

Is what it is and I’ll gladly take it all back if Senden helps win #9. :)

I don't know about scholarship room but if Berry didn't bring back two 5th year seniors there would be room on the roster.

Exactly what I was thinking. I would’ve told either or both thank you for the 4 years but it’s time to move on and make room for new blood.

I'm probably a bit defensive as I've been on GPL a bit and have had to defend everything from the age of the players to the style to the academics of the school to the integrity of the program with academics to programs like MSU being the downfall of college hockey. I've removed myself from the mix for my own sanity.

I've seen you posting there and honestly don't know how you were doing it. Wow was their whiny b**ching at a fever pitch(especially the age thing) when their infant Gopher squad got their butts kicked by MSU. They zeroed in on that super quick.

I think many of our fans have drifted in to being mediocre is ok.

This is rich coming from the person that overreacts to everything but disappears when UND is having success or when Sandelin needs cuddles.

We are now in 3rd place in total Natty's. But don't worry, I've been assured by many posters that this will have absolutely no effect on recruiting whatsoever. :silly:

I certainly don’t recall a huge swing of blue chippas mass committing to UND after 2016.
