I assumed it had more to do with what James was doing. When James scoring took off, he bumped ahead of Spicer and the coaches made the decision to bring in the more “ready” player.
But I agree, it’ll be interesting to look back on this in a couple seasons to see if UND made the right call.Agree, I’m sure that is part of it. I was more so guessing that it would’ve been a non-issue if all the seniors had concluded their time at UND. Berry & Co. took on the possibility of losing a recruit.
-
UND also chose to assume the risk of Spicer leaving by having no room for him which was by their own doing. I sincerely hope it pays off for UND. It’ll be interesting to look back on this when the 22-23 season concludes and then again when Spicer is done at UMD.

If Berry's plan is to go all-in for next year, then I agree with him on keeping Senden/Hain. Spicer has the potential to be a very good college player, but it might take him a year or two before he is a consistent producer. Before his injury, Hain was our leading goal-scorer...if he is fully rehabbed and starts off next season in the same way as last, he could have a great year.
Spicer was the least prepared for college among our five forward recruits that could come in (supposedly)...we'll see next season if Berry made the correct call or not.
I am more amenable to Hain coming back as his senior season ended prematurely due to injury and for as much as I like Senden and the leadership he brings to the team, I just don’t think him returning moves the needle a whole lot to where someone would say “We really need him back!”
Is what it is and I’ll gladly take it all back if Senden helps win #9.

I don't know about scholarship room but if Berry didn't bring back two 5th year seniors there would be room on the roster.
Exactly what I was thinking. I would’ve told either or both thank you for the 4 years but it’s time to move on and make room for new blood.

Can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em?
Good luck to Calder!

That is really cool, @Godsmack! You've got a good friend. Either that or thought it was easier giving to you vs disposing it....

Are there any Sioux commits playing in the IIHF Under 18 game with Canada being played at the moment and broadcast on the NHL Network?

Grant Cruikshank back to the portal. Remember being pretty bummed when he chose Minnesota.

I'm probably a bit defensive as I've been on GPL a bit and have had to defend everything from the age of the players to the style to the academics of the school to the integrity of the program with academics to programs like MSU being the downfall of college hockey. I've removed myself from the mix for my own sanity.
I've seen you posting there and honestly don't know how you were doing it. Wow was their whiny b**ching at a fever pitch(especially the age thing) when their infant Gopher squad got their butts kicked by MSU. They zeroed in on that super quick.

I think many of our fans have drifted in to being mediocre is ok.
This is rich coming from the person that overreacts to everything but disappears when UND is having success or when Sandelin needs cuddles.

We are now in 3rd place in total Natty's. But don't worry, I've been assured by many posters that this will have absolutely no effect on recruiting whatsoever.
I certainly don’t recall a huge swing of blue chippas mass committing to UND after 2016.

They tend to win them in pairs
They won #8 the season after UND won #8. So just gotta hope that UND returns the favor and gets #9 next season!

Seeing all the tears from Michigan and Minnesota fans tonight is absolutely splendid. Love it.
Hope @bale31had a fun time at the game! Not done yet though! Beat Denver! -

Boy…was thinking we’d go in a different direction. Fits the mold I suppose
If he’s remotely comparable to Troy Stecher as mentioned in article. Good addition to the team IMO.

Heard were close on a portal D man. Could be done Wednesday. Not being talked about on here at all. But, I like it, if it happens.
Is the player one of the potential portal D targets that Schlossman lists in todays daily skate article?

His hometown is ... Denver.
Don’t see him going to DU considering he was originally committed there and Denver chose to remove him from their commit list.

Why isn't he playing at Frozen Four? Injured or something else?
Pretty sure it has been due to injury. I forgot about his younger brother. So it’d be doubly surprising then if he did leave. Might just be some Gopher fan negative nancies but if there is a remote chance….

Hearing a little bit about an interesting transfer portal forward that could be intriguing.
Saw some speculation on Twitter that Minnesota’s Chaz Lucius might leave there for new place to play. That would be intriguing imo.

Do winners of the frozen four ever cut apart the net like in basketball
I remember UND players doing that in 2016.

Omaha not making the NCAAs is a sure bet
They have a fair shot at the automatic bid by winning the Frozen Faceoff like everyone else in the NCHC....

Mel Pearson comes off as a smug ***hole. He really fits in as being HC at Michigan just like Berenson.

Man, what a crushing game to watch if you’re a Bronco fan. Looks like Motzko has brought Minnesota back to prominence. In quite a short time too.

I think I might’ve laughed way too much reading this.
Floating tiger head apparel, I’d even have to buy one of those.
