There is a limit on the number of coaches, both paid and volunteer, that can work with the team. They already have a full slate of coaches so they would have to eliminate a different coach to add a goalie coach whether it is paid or not. The other reason that they have resisted adding a goalie coach is that there are different styles of playing goalie. And coaches kind of specialize in a style. So they have let the goalies use their own coach , who they have worked with for years and who they trust, rather than bring in a separate coach that may or may not work well with the 3 individuals that are playing goalie.

Usually these coaches have been working with the goalies for many years. That's why they don't want to bring in another coach, the goalies trust the coaches they have.

I won't claim to speak for Speez, but the point I got was that some people on this forum deify Blais and act like he could do no wrong. Suggest that if Blais were still coaching at UND they would have won multiple National Championships during the past 5 years that Hak has actually been coaching. And suggest that the current team would have some special "killer instinct" that they don't have now to win games this season. Yet the same type comments, currently being made about Hakstol, were then being made about Blais. So maybe Blais isn't the perfect coach either. Blais led teams had problems of their own and many of them failed to live up to expectations, whether reasonable or not. Both Blais and Hakstol are very good college hockey coaches, and both have been great for the University of North Dakota.

They may have been talking about football or basketball. Have all of the football and basketball games broadcast on FSSN also been on DirecTV?

I thought that was very interesting timing with all of the publicity. Maybe he figures any PR is good PR and he may never have this much attention.

You do realize that the game last night was broadcast by the Big Ten Network, which is partially owned by Fox. ESPN had absolutely nothing to do with it. Or is this just another shot at Bristol for no reason?

The long term land use plan (dream?) is to use part of Memorial Stadium as a base for building a new football stadium. The new indoor training facility would be next to that facility. My guess is that they want to build a complete new indoor facility now so that they can still be using it in the future if they can raise the money to build the football stadium. If they just put a dome over Memorial now they would have to build 2 facilities in the future if they wanted to have a new football stadium.

I think it would depend on who gave it away, and whether it was actually paid for. If a sponsor or a company pays for the tickets and then gives them away, whether it would be to a customer or an employee, those tickets would count as paid and not free. If the school is giving away tickets then they wouldn't be a paid ticket no matter how they presented the tickets. The key is whether money is given to the school in exchange for the tickets.

We didn't really want him anyway.

That's what it looks like to me. Division II schools could play Division I in sports like hockey where there is not a Division II championship. So Moorhead State could still have a Division I hockey program as long as the rest of the athletic program was in Division II.

Here is one way to deal with gophers and other burrowing pests. But it probably won't be good for your computer.
-
It must be your computer. I get a story about Ms. Bitter resigning as volleyball coach in Bemidji to take on another role in the athletic department and her daughter transferring to UND to play volleyball. I got the same story a little while ago when I first read it. Does your computer have something against cats, or maybe gopher fanatics?

If the tribes don't approve of the name there is nothing left to be done. Everything is up to Standing Rock right now. The only question is how much time they will have before the decision has to be made, with November 30th the absolute bedrock, drop-dead date. But a decision will be made before that date, we just don't know when.

Just for you. It might get a little cool depending on the weather.

The rule has been 30% of games across all sports in the NCAA for a year or 2. It changed from 20% within the past few years. I don't remember when the 20% rule started. It might have been 4 games at some point in time, but not for the last 5 to 10 years at least.
-
As of right now you are off on this one. The threshold number of games is 30% of a season. Chay hasn't played in that many games. All games must be in the first half of the season. If a player is able to play in any game during the second half of the season they are not eligible to apply for the medical hardship.

I've hated the Cowboys since 1975. Hopefully the Vikings can put them back on a plane to Dallas-Fort Worth with a season ending loss. -

Color me shocked. Good for you. It's good to know that you hate other teams, not just the ones from Minnesota. -
I guess it was the right 8.

You are right about John Borman (I don't remember if that is the proper spelling). Dave Norman used to own KCNN radio and then I think he had a restaurant down in the Detroit Lakes area (or someplace down in that region).
-
The same thing has been said about restaurants in general over the years so it wouldn't surprise me.

I believe that Grand Forks does limit the number of license, although I think they expanded the number a few years ago. A new license can cost up to approximately $67,000, depending on which license you need. Most renewals are $1-4,000 per year. I don't know what a transferred license is going for these days.

The big difference would be money and attention. The big schools would take the money from March Madness with them. I believe that pays a lot of bills for the NCAA and is the only contract that brings money back to the schools and conferences. There would still be a contract for showing the Division I basketball tournament, but it wouldn't be nearly as large. The money going back to the schools and the conferences would probably be closer to what they get in DII which I believe is just expenses. Also, the networks and ESPN wouldn't give nearly as much attention to the DI tournament. So the schools wouldn't get their day in the sun like NDSU did last year.

All tickets are sold. Thanks for the interest.
