I'm surprised more people didn't see this coming at the beginning of the season. This is just the way Hak teams play in the first half of the season. I'm always prepared for a first half stinker. I used to doubt Hakstol like everyone else with his slow starts but after last year, with a depleted roster, finishing the way they did I refuse to doubt him. This team will be playing its best hockey in the second half. I guarantee it. FYI, the 2010-11 team started 5-4-1 through the first ten games. Tonight will be game ten for us and we are 4-3-2 right now.

NDSU from what I understand has a pretty good atmosphere but that took time. I was at the Sam Houston St game in 2007 and was surprised how poor the atmosphere was. Very few people stood on 3rd down let alone made noise. I was pretty shocked given the fact this was NDSU's biggest sport. I asked the Bison fans I went to the game with if this was normal since the last Bison game I attended was in 2000 and they said yes. And yes, at least 1/3 of the students left at halftime and the rest left with about 30 seconds left in the game and missed an incredible finish.

The Alerus Center used to have an amazing atmosphere and can have it again. Read the arcticle below. I believe this was Mussman's first game as head coach. I love the part were the opposing head coach says the crowd yelled "Home of the Sioux" during the National Anthem and it felt like thunder went off in the building. And SDSU now has USD back so I would say NDSU is not their number #1 rival anymore. It was a rivalry by default when both teams went D1. UNI is a good rival to NDSU but it's not a great state rivalry cause nobody in Iowa gives 2 $hits about UNI.
