Just saw an almost four year old girl with strep throat. I asked her what she got her dad for Father's Day. She said she gave him breakfast in bed; coffee, corn flakes and milk. Dad, who brought her in, said, "Yep, all over the bed!"
Being it's Father's Day, I've been thinking of my father. My parents divorced when I was an infant so I never really knew him. He moved to California where he drove truck for a California winery. I was told he smoked 2+ packs of cigarettes every day. He died from lung cancer. His autopsy did not reveal any other health problems or potential health problems, just lung cancer.
I worked in Fargo for 8 years, commuted from GF. The number of people who lived in Fargo and who asked me if they could buy my tickets every hockey week end was close to 1500!!! OK , not really but close.
What was the last name of the brothers who owned it? They were originally from Jamestown. I think their dad owned a radio station there. Tom moved to Grand Forks. I remember partying with Tom and his ex-wife Mia back in the day but for the life of me can't remember their last name. I think the station started airing before '74 but I may be wrong.
It takes a lot of inner strenght to quit using tobacco. It's one of the hardest things to quit. There are people like your dad and brother who believe that because they've been smoking so long without getting the big C, nothings going to happen to them. WRONG.
I know people with lung cancer who still smoke! They say they already have cancer so why quit. I tell them that quitting smoking will actually keep them alive longer. Continuing to smoke when you have lung cancer speeds up your demise. You may not care but family and friends who love you care.
I predict there will be an increase (imagined/fabricated/almost happened/someone is thinking of doing) in wrongs against Native Americans on campus that will be blamed on the changing of the name and logo against the wishes of the majority.
