Yep and yep. Just because I stopped reading other forums/blogs that are disparaging our decision to move to a new conference doesn't mean it has stopped. It's out there and people are reading it. Just not me. Faison said national television coverage is a goal and then went on to say he expects us (Fighting Sioux fans) to see every game on television. I didn't see anywhere that one (national ) or the other (local) would have exclusive rights. Who's to say it won't be six of one and half a dozen of the other? Or is it possible they can work together?
-
I think Faison is smart enough not to make a public statement that will come back and bite him in the azz. Didn't Gino just sign on with St. Cloud as some kind of advisor? C'mon now, we're all going to miss the WCHA, the old WCHA. The new conference is a done deal. The Debbie Downer attitude isn't going to change anything.

Bulding a new arena (even though the roof leaked, the handicapp door openers didn't work and the glass could not support the body check of a 'Dog on inauguration day) says a lot about the school's committment to it's hockey program. That may have played a part in inviting them to join. Maybe the answers will be forthcoming, maybe we'll never know the answers as to why or who. I understand the rest of the WCHA's fans anger, etc. I had a problem with the Goofs shouting from the roof tops how they would never have screwed the little guys BUT for the fact, poor them, they were forced to join the BTHC. Now I don't care what they think. They can keep up the hate banter. They're just making themselves look like the hypocritical a$$es they are. UND, et al are not sitting behind and bemoaning the fact that UMtc and UW left the WCHA. They looked to the future and made a decision to form a new conference. We'll see.....

I stopped reading all the crap out there about UND and the new conference. According to everything I read, UMtc and UW were 'forced' to join the BTHC. The BT took them by the cojones and set them in the new conference against their will. They didn't want to go but, oh, woe is me, they had to go, they had no choice. Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo. UND, et al, were suppose to stay put and ensure the continuation of the 'little guy programs' left behind because, well, UMtc and UW couldn't. Never mind that they didn't seen to care before but now, big bad BT won't let them even if they decided they wanted to. UND made a conscious decision to do what they believe is best for their program and so did UMD, DU, CC, UNO and O-M, unlike the BTHC members who had the decision made for them. Good, bad or indifferent, it's not only the hockey world who knows who we are, everyone interested in college sports is talking about us. 'There's no such thing as bad press' and you can't buy all the media coverage this new conference is getting!

I keep reading how UND, and UND alone, is the villain that is killing small program hockey. Balderdash!! Without the complete cooperation of all the six programs, this new conference would never have happened. Is UND a 'power' in the conference, probably, but it's not a dictatorship. If the other members don't have a voice, the conference will die. If the scuttlebutt is true and Notre Dame will only join a conference with a total of 7 teams, they will be dictating the future growth of the program and who knows what else. If true, I say, let them look elsewhere. I hope it's not, and I hope they decide to join the NCHL.
-
I don't want one program to be 'bigger' than any of the others. If having Notre Dame join the Super League (I like that better than the National which reminds me of a car rental agency) means they will dictate how it is run, etc. I don't want them.

I don't know that Notre Dame doesn't want WMU. Somewhere in this thead, I read a link that stated WMU was going to follow Notre Dame wherever they go. For this kind of statement to have been made, indicates, to me anyway, that WMU and Notre Dame have talked and have formed a two U alliance of sorts.

Hockey players at this level want to be coached so their talent will improve and mature. They also want to play in a program that will 'show-case' them to the teams that drafted them, or if not drafted, to the scouts looking for new recruits. UND had the best NFL farm team in the country, just ask any NFL coach. This new league will guarantee that the players will play with and against the best of the best.

I guess I don't see MN getting it together in the next couple of years given the decline of their program the past few years. I think it's going to take more than getting rid of Hill. Lucia is the coach and will continue to be the coach, for awhile anyway, and if they haven't gotten it together with him by now, I don't see it happening. If they get a new coach, unless it's Blais, it's going to take awhile for him to get the program back where it used to be. I don't know about Wisconsin, they just seen to be missing something the past couple of years. It's almost like they don't care. My opinion is based on the couple of games I saw them play, so I'm probably wrong.
-
I think it's going to be years before the Big Ten is competitive.
-
You must have been watching MN on VHS because that program hasn't been comparable to Ohio Miami, Denver or the Fighing Sioux in years. Given their play the past few years, the uncertainty of and unproven BTH, I don't see recruitment of top players being the sure thing MN fans think it will be.

Agreed, why is UND the big villan here?
-
The number of people offended by the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo are very few when compared to the many who are not. Those many include persons who are actually Sioux natives. We're losing our name and logo because a few believe they are hostile and abusive. It's apparent that big numbers aren't needed to change what a few think is politically incorrect. So don't get all sanctimonious because you've only see 20 or so protestors. So, how many SCSU fans do you know who have gone public supporting the name and logo??
-
I've heard it from SCSU fans.
-
As mentioned by scores of others, UND didn't start this ball rolling. Why are UND and the rest are being attacked for taking care of the future of their hockey programs? Who else is going to do it?
-
Easy to say 'we don't want to play with you anyway' when no one asked you. I still am of the opinion that Bemdiji would be a better fit for the new conference.
-
Adding Big Ten Hockey to that list seem like a natural fit.
