  1. Do they only have the overhead? Because I don't know how they can waive a goal off if it wasn't on camera, they can't interpret what they think happened out of view. I'd like to know Hak's explanation.

Don't you know, they make it up as they go. Get someone to show you the old video of Anderson where he admits as much.

  2. First night...2-2 draw. Second night, 3-1 Irish! The real ND, the one with money, pride, athletic tradition, classy fans and school, will prove victorious.....and to think...the people down there are hardly even aware they have a hockey team. The way things are meant to be. God, Family, Football, Basketball, sport for unathletic white trash.

Speaking of your school's traditions, by any chance do you sing soprano in the school choir, the one that is famous for it's rum, buggery and the lash?

  3. I am fine with the one game suspension. I actually thought it could have been longer (being that we are dealing with the WCHA here, after all).

My only complaint is that they waited until the day before the game to announce it. This could have been taken care of on Tuesday, now the team is left scrambling for lines in practice for tomorrow's game.

While I agree that Malone didn't intend to injure Martin, nor did he intend to hit his head, I understand the one game ruling being that they specifically said this year that they were going to crack down on head hits. This is a rule that was passed with Genoway in mind after his injury last year. I don't think Malone's hit was anywhere near as vicious as Marvin's hit on Genoway last year (even though they both essentially got the same penalty by the WCHA), but since they are trying to crack down on head hits this year...I certainly wasn't expecting Malone to NOT get a suspension. I would have been surprised if he hadn't, honestly.

Malone finished his check and delievered a hockey hit, and I'll bet Pro scouts like the way he plays the game. Are you saying he must now hold back and play a softer game. If so, do you think he make the right choice coming to the WCHA to further his hockey career.

  4. Why are some of you suggesting that Malone might be suspended. NHL Analysts and even the recepient have declared the hit as being completely legal within current hockey rules. A suspension would strongly indicate that the WCHA membership must press for a leadership change.

  5. During the second intermission of last nights TSN broadcast the analyst panel which included Craig MacTavish, Bobby Clark and Bob MacKenzie called Malones hit a legal hockey hit within the current rules. They showed the hit along with recent NHL hits and stated that only a rule change would completely eliminate those type of hits. Case closed.

  6. per hammyhockey twitter (gpl guy and gopher fan in the know)

Multiple sources tell me that a Gopher forward will be suspended. Not gonna say why other than it is not good behavior away from the rink.

I don't know what this means for the future of the player. Word has it that the NHL team with his rights don't want him sitting out.

Which may mean he goes WHL to keep playing. I don't believe any decisions have been made yet on his end though

There was a time when the wheels used to fly off the little Brown and Yellow Wagon after Christmas. These days they seem to fly off before the season ever starts. :D

  7. I didn't see much of any worth in Blake Wheeler when he was drafted and Bjugstad looks similar to Wheeler in size and ability. The difference is that Bjugstad was drafted about where his talent level projects. So what I'm saying is that Bjugstad may actually pan out and has a far better chance to do so then Fischer

But yeah, Fischer is a bust. I hope Fischer got a decent degree at UMN. Because, like most NCAA athletes, he'll be going pro in something other than sports.

The TSN Analysts were discussing Minnesota Mr Hockey Selections so how do you bring Blake Wheeler into the discussion. Please do some research first and check out the actual winners before responding. You will quickly uncover that you have to go all the way back to 2000 to find a MN Mr Hockey who has panned out as a regular NHL player. Once they leave highschool most of them never live up to the hype.

  8. Brock Nelson to NYI at number 30.

"I'm just glad he's going to North Dakota........"--TSN

Plenty of praise for UND from the TSN staff regarding both first round picks and a special feature that highlighted how the Minnesota Mr Hockey selections haven't exactly panned out over the past few years. One comment "Fischer is a bust" Therefore, they see risk in selecting Bugstain in the first round.

  9. You think Mike Needham's son? He was a part timer in the nhl if memory serves me.

This is a guess on my part, based on the thread posts suggesting a talented and fast forward who is the son of a former NHLer. Matt Needham of the Penticton Vees program is currently one of the top prospects in Western Canada.

I don't go along with the Samuelsson guess, as like his old man he can't skate.
