Here's your halo.
If you want to come here and talk smack how many Minnesota points on the score sheet from last night. I see one assist on one side of the ledger and plenty of dumb penalties on the other side. Have a great day.
-
All those years of Minnesota's best but to get the real talent they needed to make a championship run the Goofs had to dip into North Dakota to find their leadership and Austria for someone who could score in the big games.
-
Dressler breaks leg but might return this year
Hopefully Weston heals quickly and is back for the playoffs.
Tough loss for a team that is right in the thick of a real dogfight to make the playoffs. Here is TSN's take on the story.
-
Pretty good showing by the WCHA tonight, 8-1 in non-conference play, the 1 loss being St. Cloud in OT to Miami.
The 1 team that didn't play...yeah....the Gophers.
The big shocker of the night came was Alaska Fairbanks beating Michigan 2-0
-
For the Saturday game I will go with Trupp.
-
Nice home opener for the Sioux. Strong performance by Toews, Blood, Vande, and I really liked how Cichy and Kristo played too. Keep it going tomorrow night.
Cannata kept the score respectable for Merrimack with some big saves in the third.
-
This is the David Toews we were all expecting.
-
Merrimack scores, 2-1.
I am sure the message on the bench is if you are going to try and block the shot go down to do it so you don't screen your goaltender. Otherwise get out of the way because Eidsness couldn't see a thing.
-
Hard work along the boards by Toews and Zajac leads to a turnover and the Toews goal 2-0. Nice Shot
-
That didn't take long. Kristo from his knees back to Genoway for the blaster. 1-0 Sioux. Update Gregoire tipped the shot for the goal.
-
It will be interesting to see how quickly the big line can build some chemistry. 6-1 Sioux

Remember Hab-it - we don't have Sioux hockey without Minnesotans.
Even Ryan Duncan and Johnny T had to come to Minn to further their hockey education
Chill with the Canada vs. Minnesota stuff - that's chaff for the rodent fans.
I have no problem with ending it and I hope you also sent a similar message to JLoos telling him to chill on the subject as well. Given his constant rantings about French Canadians I would have guessed that he wished the Lamoureux, Parise and Toews families had taken their talent elsewhere.
-
They still have a few French-Canadians on the roster. Close enough to dislike for me.
Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a park in Toronto, when one is attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his stick, wedges it down the dog's collar and twists, breaking the dog's neck. A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy. "Young Leafs Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook. "But I'm not a Leafs fan," the little hero replied. "Sorry, since we are in Toronto, I just assumed you were." said the reporter and starts again. Little Jays Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack" he continued writing in his notebook. "I'm not a Jays fan either," the boy said. "I assumed everyone in Toronto was either a Leafs or Jays fan. What team, do you root for?" the reporter asked. "I'm a Montreal Canadiens fan." the child said. The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes, "Little French Bastard from Montreal Kills Beloved Family Pet."
Based on some of your recent posts/comments in this thread regarding Canadians I am going to go out on a very short limb and guess that you grew up in the State of "Thinks it Knows" Hockey. If you are from North Dakota by any chance did you attend NDSU.
-
Zajac with a first period goal and the Versus first intermission interview as well, discussing what else but Jacque Lemaire's expectations.
-
Looking forward to another year of balanced scoring.
-
That was an impressive series of penalties. We got lucky. OUr player held the Manitoba stick and drew a penalty. Then Blood checked a Bisons player from behind.
We should be down 2 really.
That was the outcome

How pathetic that the Dasher Troll is already making excuses as to why his loaded team will lose to North Dakota this season. He has been around long enough that he should have been able to figure out that you have to recruit a few role players to your lineup if you want to succeed in today's game so he will have no one to blame but himself. I doubt the little flake has or ever will be offered a Pro contract of any kind.
-
Sounds like he might be a big gamer.
I think you could say that about both Kristo and Parks.
-
The USA killed Russia 8-1 in their National Junior Evaluation Camp game.
Kristo chipped in with two goals, one on on the PP.

Good to see him becoming a point leader during the tryouts. Hopefully he can continue that for the Sioux this year and for the WJC.
USA beat Russia 6-1 yesterday, Kristo with a goal and two assists.

Also at the Hlinka U18 today Parks had a goal in the 7-6 win over Slovakia

We lost one of the good ones from the Sioux fanbase. Created laughter wherever he went, he will be missed.
-
Actually he just did announce it and then TSN posted the article. Big loss for the Riders.

I looked through the "All-time Fighting Sioux Roster" in the hockey media guide and saw only one Boone listed: William N. Boone (1953-1955), Hometown: South Burnaby, B.C.
However, the "UND in the NHL" section lists a Carl "Buddy" Boone. He played one season in the NHL (1957-1958).
Buddy is a distant relative and I can tell you he didn't play for the Sioux. He went the Major Junior route and was already a Pro in the American Hockey League during the years in question. Therefore it probably was the Boone from BC.
-
It is the same Darren Turcotte who played in the NHL and played his Major Junior Hockey with the North Bay Centennials. When Darren signed with North Bay his father moved to the city so that he could watch his son play. Thanks to the Turcottes, there was a steady stream of US born talent that played for the Centennials in the 80s, including the Hatcher brothers. The Turcottes owned and operated a sports memorabilia shop in the city for many years and still reside there to this day.
Funny:Head Coach: Darren Turcotte, North Bay, Ont.
I'm assuming this is Darren Turcotte from Boston, who coaches in Ontario, but still looks funny seeing this on the roster.

He looks great but he is getting a lot of stickwork from the Goofs that is going uncalled.
