  1. MSU has obviously done a great recruiting job and seem to have found the right mixture of talent and sandpaper. I like the players that UND currently has but often wish we had a few more of the latter blue collar types. Besides talent, National Championships equally require hard work and knocking the other team off of their game.
  2. So after all these years they are still playing the "We were beat by older Canadians" card? Maybe it's time to send their two soft Ollies back to the Fjord.
  3. But the Don looked so happy in the post interview game with Berenson. Perhaps he is thinking that it is far better for his team to get their reality checks from Michigan instead of UND, so he doesn't get any froth in his hair from the GPL faithful.
  4. DeAngelo did look good but not Jones, Trouba or Carson good. He had the one of the few shots that did hit the net from the blueline and look at what happened. You need a quarterback on the blueline for the PP that can hit the net at least half the time. It just wasn't there with that corp.
  5. As I said after the Canada game this one of weakest D-Corps that Team USA has sent to the tournament in quite a while. Did any one one of them actually get a shot on goal in that game as I can only recall shots into Russians or that were wide of the net. As a result the forwards stopped sending pucks back to the point and it is not much wonder that some of them looked like they were trying to do it all on their own.
  6. Unfortunately this is a lot like reading a Maple Leafs thread following most of their games which in summary typically read: "It must have been the officiating because there is no way that giving up 41 shots should have cost us the game". Some of you might not like my opinion; however I would offer that your D is not as strong as in past years and some of the forwards are not playing good two way hockey. Unless the forwards can compensate a bit so that the US plays less time in their own zone you will have a tough time getting through both the Russians and Swedes.
  7. If you believe the TSN analysts then you must also believe them when they say the Leafs are a playoff contender each and very year and when Buttons the Clown tells you that the Leafs Prospects in the tournament are the cat's arse. The big shock for me was Slovakia beating Finland although one could use the hot goalie argument. The Slovakian lineup is for the most part a team that plays in the Russian Junior league with only three or four draft picks themselves. The Germans have for the most part played men\s hockey and it shows in their solid play. Maybe the are worn down and will commit more turnovers tonight. .
  8. You shouldn't have been surprised as Germany is a true 19 year old team and half their team are already playing men's hockey in various leagues. Therefore they don't make as many junior mistakes and they can play really physical so any team that plays them has to feel fortunate if they escape their game without injuries.
  9. Union had players who were willing to get their noses dirty hence my comment noting all the former players from the BCHL in their lineup. A game against UND might have had a lower score but the outcome for Union likely would have been the same.
  10. According to The Don, a bunch of over-aged Canadians. LOL. As an aside, I have often wondered why the Boston Bruins fans like to chant USA when in reality most of their lineup is Canadian. players. Also after seeing the heroes of dinkytown link I am left wondering why some say the Neanderthals are extinct: http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/25224406/mugshots-10-arrested-in-dinkytown
  11. Another bunch of overage Canadians from the BCHL LMFAO The Golden Chokers have been using that lame excuse for over 50 years.
  12. Congrats to Union and I couldn't help but note how many players on their roster are from the BCHL.
  13. I am not upset or disappointed. I think that Sioux lineup played to their full potential against the strongest Gopher team since the Leopold era. To make matters worse it looks like they finally recruited a goaltender who isn't a sieve. Based on watching yesterday's games, I also think that Rau is a better hockey player than Johnny hockey. Good luck to Union, because they are going to need it.
  14. Probably that closet Gopher fan DaveK
  15. The Golden Poodles.
  16. And maybe if your Aunt had a beard she'd be your Uncle! Oh wait disregard that statement as I just noticed that you are in fact a Gopher fan so odds are that your Aunt with the beard really is a women.
  17. Are your rabies shots up to date?
  18. Does your team still do that end of season pansy thing with their hair and nails. If so a picture of the Golden Poodles is always good for a few chuckles.
  19. They have placed themselves in a situation where they now have to win seven games in a row.
  20. Having a trophy on the line didn't work so now we will see how they play knowing that another loss equals end of season.
  21. Babadabupi?
  22. The one sentence you quoted by itself covers up the original members comment that the physical play that is Sioux hockey isn't there anymore. It also doesn't change the fact that they got worked over by a less talented team, in their building and with a trophy on the line.
  23. That is the problem in a nutshell. In all the games I have watched over the past 40 years I don't remember a Sioux team getting outworked at home like that when hardware was on the line. It pains me to say it but this team looks more like a Gopher team, and I think it is all about the recruiting. This line up doesn't have enough team players and character, just too many talented individuals who are passengers when the going gets tough.
