  1. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. GO SIOUX!
  2. I agree when they all showed up, but consistency is also being part of great hockey player and team. Cheers
  3. Actually the two walk-ons you speak of help prove my point. The two you speak of were fully engaged and committed to the UND program and willing to do whatever was required of them to win. The lineup needed more just like them.
  4. I disagree with the whole parity argument. This is all about having both good goaltending and role players in your lineup, which is the downfall of the teams that load up with a bunch of #1 prima donna picks. I wonder how many more times the so called elite teams will have to get beaten in the playoffs by hard working blue collar teams that play better two way hockey before they figure this out. I remember a time with UND had real role players and those Sioux teams polished off plenty of better on paper teams. Have a great summer.
  5. So we have already seen how it is going to be. They can trip, UND can't.
  6. So this individual is still happy that his team left for the Big preTENder conference. Good for him
  7. Having a retired NHL official in charge when all of the leagues restructured would not have been that expensive. They have pensions already and most of them probably would have welcomed the opportunity to stay involved in the game. More importantly they could hold the old duds accountable and teach the up and comers the right way to officiate.
  8. Solutions were available to the league two years ago but instead it hired from within the same pool to oversee the officiating. They could have hired a retired professional official who wasn't all huggy touchy feely with your Sheperds, Andersons etc. There is still no accountability so please share with us why you think we had to be left with the same old stain on the game.
  9. With that attitude it is not much wonder nothing has changed. It certainly didn't have to be the same lunatics running the asylum.
  10. It was obvious to us old time fans that by the 1990s the officiating was not keeping up to the improved caliber and speed of NCAA hockey. Given the quality of the WCHA teams it was especially evident that a change was needed. The restructure two years ago provided an opportunity for change, but what did the NCHC do. It filled the shed with exactly the same old useless tools. A missed opportunity that I view as a self-inflicted wound, which is why I have stopped ranting about it.
  11. MSU has obviously done a great recruiting job and seem to have found the right mixture of talent and sandpaper. I like the players that UND currently has but often wish we had a few more of the latter blue collar types. Besides talent, National Championships equally require hard work and knocking the other team off of their game.
  12. So after all these years they are still playing the "We were beat by older Canadians" card? Maybe it's time to send their two soft Ollies back to the Fjord.
  13. But the Don looked so happy in the post interview game with Berenson. Perhaps he is thinking that it is far better for his team to get their reality checks from Michigan instead of UND, so he doesn't get any froth in his hair from the GPL faithful.
  14. DeAngelo did look good but not Jones, Trouba or Carson good. He had the one of the few shots that did hit the net from the blueline and look at what happened. You need a quarterback on the blueline for the PP that can hit the net at least half the time. It just wasn't there with that corp.
  15. As I said after the Canada game this one of weakest D-Corps that Team USA has sent to the tournament in quite a while. Did any one one of them actually get a shot on goal in that game as I can only recall shots into Russians or that were wide of the net. As a result the forwards stopped sending pucks back to the point and it is not much wonder that some of them looked like they were trying to do it all on their own.
  16. Unfortunately this is a lot like reading a Maple Leafs thread following most of their games which in summary typically read: "It must have been the officiating because there is no way that giving up 41 shots should have cost us the game". Some of you might not like my opinion; however I would offer that your D is not as strong as in past years and some of the forwards are not playing good two way hockey. Unless the forwards can compensate a bit so that the US plays less time in their own zone you will have a tough time getting through both the Russians and Swedes.
  17. If you believe the TSN analysts then you must also believe them when they say the Leafs are a playoff contender each and very year and when Buttons the Clown tells you that the Leafs Prospects in the tournament are the cat's arse. The big shock for me was Slovakia beating Finland although one could use the hot goalie argument. The Slovakian lineup is for the most part a team that plays in the Russian Junior league with only three or four draft picks themselves. The Germans have for the most part played men\s hockey and it shows in their solid play. Maybe the are worn down and will commit more turnovers tonight. .
  18. You shouldn't have been surprised as Germany is a true 19 year old team and half their team are already playing men's hockey in various leagues. Therefore they don't make as many junior mistakes and they can play really physical so any team that plays them has to feel fortunate if they escape their game without injuries.
  19. Union had players who were willing to get their noses dirty hence my comment noting all the former players from the BCHL in their lineup. A game against UND might have had a lower score but the outcome for Union likely would have been the same.
  20. According to The Don, a bunch of over-aged Canadians. LOL. As an aside, I have often wondered why the Boston Bruins fans like to chant USA when in reality most of their lineup is Canadian. players. Also after seeing the heroes of dinkytown link I am left wondering why some say the Neanderthals are extinct: http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/25224406/mugshots-10-arrested-in-dinkytown
  21. Another bunch of overage Canadians from the BCHL LMFAO The Golden Chokers have been using that lame excuse for over 50 years.
