  1. There is a channel on right now, ABC Newsnow. Freq: 11956 Vertical S/R: 3.978 Mbps Scans in as NEWS1 LIVE Level 74%, Quality 72% You should be able to find this today, to get your dish pointed, then you'll have to scan about 15 minutes before gametime to find the FSSN. The coordinates for the FSSN are: Freq 11991 Vertical S/R 4.880 Mbps IA-8
  2. The trend seems to be lower attendance for playoffs. It's the same for Basketball and football.
  3. Yep, the West Regional will be on ESPNU.
  4. but they don't care about UND and don't know who they are!?
  5. I suppose the FSSN/WDAZ would have to pay the NCAA for the rights, so I doubt it will happen. They have a good track record of televising FB playoff games, but I'd imagine there is alot more interest in that, hence alot more sponsor $$.
  6. Sadly so. At least now it won't be quite as excruciating to watch some of their games.
  7. Or better yet, maybe he'll make the Hawks a better team!
  8. As a frustrated Blackhawks fan, I'm very excited about Bochenski playing for them and getting to watch him. Excited that he should get more ice-time, but also feel sorry for him. It is the Blackhawks after-all.
  9. Remember Bill Parcells with the Giants? Otis Smith carries on 1st and 2nd down, Phil Simms passes to Mark Bavaro on 3rd and 4. Remember Bill Parcells with the Patriots? Drew Bledsoe set NFL records for pass attempts and completions in his second season. Good coaches adapt to the talent on their team. Bubba is a good coach.
  10. I hope he stays for both his junior and senior seasons then!
  11. This weekend's playoff series with Minnesota State will be on the FSSN on cable in GF/ND, and also on satellite throughout North America.
  12. Last I heard, Bunning offered and Gene Taylor's response was "They've made their bed, now they have to sleep in it." Several things have changed. 1)When NDSU moved up they had no conference even remotely lined up, they were flying blind. Last year the commissioner of the Big Sky visited UND and invited them to submit the infamous inquiry letter for possible future membership, the same one that NDSU, SDSU, UNC, and SUU submitted. That is an expression of interest. 2)Former NCC school Northern Colorado has been accepted to the Big Sky. Perhaps expansion to the east that would include playoff ineligable schools is not out of the question. 3)Since moving to DI, SDSU football attendance has increased by ~33% and NDSU football attendance has increased by ~18%. I'm sure the administration would like to see that happen at UND. 4)Great West FB Conference. This didn't exist when the other schools moved up. If an invite to an established conference is not in the fold, UND will gain immediate acceptance into the GWFC for the sport that will benefit most from a DI move, because they need members. 5)The DAC-10. UMARY has moved up and Minot St and the rest of the conference is leaning toward doing the same. It doesn't sit well with either the administration or especially the alumni to think about being associated as competitors with this conference. 6)Roger Thomas said from the beginning that "we'll see how it goes for NDSU and SDSU." I'll be the first to admit that it hasn't gone too bad for either of them. SDSU has had some real good schools on both the fb and bb schedules, NDSU has done well in football. I'm sure the win over Wisco opened the eys of many UND supporters that want to resume the rivalry, myself included. 7)St. Cloud State. They've expressed interest in moving up to DI. 8)The NCC. I think alot of people assumed that quality schools like Winona St., Nebraska-Kearney, etc. would have been banging on the door to get into the NCC. That hasn't happened. The future of the NCC is bleak. I agree. Fans of both schools should be excited.
  13. I understand that the REA is too small to ever be considered a venue for the Frozen Four, but with the great facilities in the WCHA like the REA, Kohl Center, Excel; why can't the Final Five site be rotated around these arenas every few years? I understand that the Twin Cities are a hockey hotbed, but so is Milwaukee/Madison, and GF, even the Denver area.
  14. Yes it should be on. http://www.theralph.com/new2/Watch_The_Sio...h_The_Sioux.php
  15. BisonKent's article was just fine. It wasn't pro-NDSU or anti-UND. There was no new news in it, he was just stating what most everyone already knows. If anything, this article is exposing UND to an audience that normally wouldn't know anything about UND and the Sioux-Bison rivalry, those that are fans of I-AA football and regularily frequent the site that BisonKent works for.
  16. Yes, Row C in the club lounge are bar stool seats.
  17. That would be awesome to have Saginaw come to the Alerus. Michigan Tech would also be a nice season opener. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing the Sioux travel to play SVSU.
  18. Check that, Charleston was 8-3 last year. At any rate, it sounds like they are looking for 3 games still either home or away. Tusculum is a bigger name, but they were only 3-7 last year, although they may play in a better conference. Still I'd rather see teams with winning records come to the Alerus.
  19. Charleston is also looking for games on those dates, and are willing to travel. There were 9-2 last year.
  20. Just wondering if anyone knows yet if the FSN North will broadcast the Final Five again this year. I haven't seen any press releases yet.
  21. As well as Toews has played the last couple of weeks, unfortunately his foolish tripping penalty was the wrench that caused the wheels to come off on what could have been a 4 point weekend. I hope he continues to put the puck in the net this weekend against Tech.
  22. After being at the games this weekend I feel I have a better understanding of the concerns of the Betty, since I was lucky enough to be part of the record crowd at Saturday's games. IMO the Sioux Center is a fantastic basketball facility. The atmosphere is just awesome. Had the women's game been played in REA, the atmosphere would have most likely been more like a men's game versus Crookston. Utilizing the space behind the south bleachers for concessions really helps to alleviate th traffic problems that would have been present even at some of the bigger drawing non-conference games. As far as seating capacity goes, the size of south bleachers should be increased by 50% and the size of the north bleachers should be doubled. This would retain the space for concessions in the south, and the Fighting Sioux Club socials could be moved 20 feet into Olympic Arena. This would bring seating capacity to around 3,500-3,600 hundred. BTW, what happened to the small scoreboards that used to be in each of the four corners of the arena? I wish we could get a clarification on how attendance is counted, because Saturday's attendance for the women's game was 3,099 while the attendance for the men's game is listed at 3,192.
  23. Very surprised he was not invited after the year/career he has had.
  24. Don't forget about the classiness displayed by Amy Ruley and by NDSU's baseball coach who backed out on the only games the two universities were still competing in. As far as quotes go, my favorite was made by AD Gene Taylor when Tom Bunning (a new-comer/outsider who has no animosity toward NDSU) suggested renewing the rivalry. Mr. Taylor's response was, as always, intelligent, original, mature, and classy: "They've made their bed, now they have to sleep in it." BRILLIANT!
