  1. Tough for me to pick against Fargo in the title game. Althought the Bearkats' road wins were pretty impressive.............
  2. Actually, in the end, this may make it easier for any former NCC schools to one day land in the MVC down the road. I've long said that if any of the olnd NCC schools get into the Valley, it will look nothing like the Valley of today. This move could be the start of that. This is probably going to have a huge trickle-down effect, that likely will affect the A-10, MVC, Horizon, and Summit.
  3. I used to be a proponent of Lacrosse. But I haven't been as excited about it in recent years. If baseball can't get into the WAC or Summit, I think it should be dropped and those resources diverted to basketball, football, or what-have-you.............. Actually, I feel it should be dropped regardless of conference affilitation. I just don't think it makes much sense in our locale. It was different in the NCC days when most of the opponents were a short drive away. Even Summit affiliation would provide questionable at best travel and weather conditions................
  4. I see that Webb had 6 turnovers and 3 assists in 21 minutes..............
  5. Coach Jones said in today's press conference, that Brekke is day-to-day and will not play tomorrow night. Hoping he gets cleared by Saturday because that is when they are leaving for SUU. I hope for Brandon's sake his OK, and for the program's sake that they're just playing it safe, and this will not be a Chay Genoway type situation...............
  6. ESPN to drop BracketBusters event after 2013 season
  7. Pretty much all schools at this level have one or two non-DI teams on their home schedule.
  8. I think that North Dakota can be quite competetive in the Big Sky................. Evers seemed like "a project" coming out of high school, but she has really progressed and is playing very well right now. When Wall gets to 100%, UND could be a tough matchup in the paint with those two young ladies...................... Madi Buck is an excellent all-around player and seems to have a great work ethic. Megan Lauck has played quite well of late also. If the young ball-handlers of Williams and Mills play well, this team could be pretty good.........................
  9. I place a bit more emphasis on the RPI ratings............................ Where we fall, or where any Big Sky team falls in the RPI ratings honestly doesn't mean alot in the grand scheme of things. You are right that the Big Sky is a one-bid league 99.9% of the time. However, I'd argue that last season, the Big Sky was on the cusp of getting two teams in the tourney. Montana got the autobid by winning the Tourney. Their final RPI was 74, while Weber St.'s was 71. They split in the regular season, and Montana won the Tourney championship against Weber. I felt that if Weber would have won the Big Sky Tourney, their was a miniscule chance that UM, who was the regular season champ, could have also gotten an invite to the NCAA Tourney. That would have been huge for the conference, although the chances were remote. Another reason RPI is important is for $$$$$$$$$............. The big-time schools won't offer big money to programs that have an RPI rating that hovers around 300. When the "money games" come around, those big schools want to schedule the low/mid-major teams that have RPI ratings in the top half of the NCAA, because that is what makes their RPI ratings go up, and that is what makes their chances for at-large bids to the NCAA tourney go up. I'm thinking that our 1-6 non-conference record thus far in 2012 has at least cost the program $100,000 in guarantee money for the 2013-14 season................ Teams at our level basically make or break their RPI rating in the non-conference season. Not much movement can occur during conference play.
  10. I don't subscribe to the theory that any game that is not conference game means nothing. I expect North Dakota to have a chance to win every time they take the court, the field, or the ice. I'm a pretty patient guy, often apologetic, and I've seen alot of positives in several of the losses, but I certainly don't expect to get run out of the building by the likes of NDSU or even UNI. I don't think pooh-poohing a 1-6 start as "meaningless" is the best frame of mind...................
  11. At the rate things are going, I'd be shocked if North Dakota averages 2,000 per game this season.
  12. I haven't been this disgusted with this team in quite some time. They just laid down in the second half and let FU have their way with them. Lot's of standing flat-footed and watching...............
  13. That's because we are lazy and careless.
  14. Last year must have been a fluke, because Fargo has rolled all over us in 2010 and 2012. The Summit League owns us..................
  15. Ya me too. I bought the pass before the women's game and that was basically unwatchable, today it won't even try to load. Money well spent......................
  16. 5 North Dakota 5 Fargo U 15:27 1H
  17. I don't think Fargo is overwhelmingly superior to this North Dakota team, but on paper and given what I've seen from the Sioux so far, I think this game will be an uphill battle for UND. But I think a win in this game would do wonders for the attitude of the players heading into conference play in the coming weeks.....
  18. Frustrating thing for me right now is that in the Hawaii and SDSU games, North Dakota got off to terribly slow starts and had to play catch-up all night but did have a chance to win each game at the end. The opposite was true last night against KC, got off to a good start, had a 9 point lead midway through the first half, and then let the Kangaroos back in it to the point where we were playing catch-up again. It is not so much unlike what we saw from the football team this season............good play for certain stretches, countered by significant stretches of uninspired play.
  19. I agree 100% about Archer's contributions. The class of Archer, Wilmer, Allard, Goodman, etc, was built up to unrealistic expectaions and have taken alot of flack. But I certainly wouldn't want to be without them at this point, specifically Wilmer and Archer. Traylor had looked quite athletic and more physical around the rim prior to his injury. He only played 2 minutes tonight. Webb is a fantastically talented player. But he is overworked in my opinion. Anderson, Antwi, and even Huff are all very capable of handling the ball.
  20. I saw Traylor out their briefly tonight. What is the story there? Is he injured?
  21. When is the last time that North Dakota had: A) A freshman starting at QB and/or B) A 4 year starter at QB
  22. Sioux shot 50% from the field, and were 6-16 from 3. They only turned the ball over 10 times. 14-30 from the FT line and out-rebounded 41-28. Obviously the FT's were atrocious, but as far as I am concerned the rebounding margin in this game was just as big a factor to this loss. We are much bigger than KC, and have pretty much outrebounded everybody else all season. KC was also pathetic at the charity stripe tonight and turned the ball over more, but they just flat out worked harder and hustled more. How do you give up that offensive rebound on the KC freethrow with 17 seconds left? Very frustrating game. I hate to single guys out, and especially tonight when everybody struggled at the FT line. Webb is a huge asset and key piece to this team, but this is two consecutive games where his FT shooting has for all intensive purposes cost the team the game.
