I will take credit for that, maybe he is just a fan, my mistake. The bottom line is the kid chose NDSU, whether he changed his mind or not. May never know and it probably doesn't matter at this point. He would have been a nice ND walk-on but didn't happen. The names are coming in though - I love the live blog thing from UND!
-
We will have to wait and see if Kolpack does his job when he writes the article. I am not saying they should ask how it all went down but it should mention that he was committed to UND.
-
Its amazing how much influence a High School coach can have over a kid. Arp had committed to UND but his coach wouldn't let him finalize it until he talked to him in person. Well, here is your result. Coach Larson- who is an NDSU alum, must be pretty powerful in Forman. Personally, I have never heard of a coach talking a kid into going to a different school, the coaches alma mater, just so the coach can be happy. Not in ND at least.
-
I have heard Lechler is going into Ag so the decision makes sense - that would be tough for UND to compete with. Much like when a kid picks UND for aviation.
-
Definitely. He was the smaller receiver of the four and one thing UND has is small receivers right now. Oliver, Fletcher, and Golladay all bring bigtime size.
-
My question is this: How did Dom know to call the coach in the first place? Somebody told him that the kid committed, he didn't just make it up on his own.
-
NDSU was on Mollberg from Day 1 and even after he committed to UND they told him they are not going to stop recruiting him. They eventually did and that's when they took the Nebraska kid. Schwarzkopf was offered a preferred walk on spot at UND. So NDSU had to have offered somethng equal or more (PWO or money), there is no way possible they could have offered less. Justin Arp from Forman will be the same situation as Schwarzkopf (offers from both schools).

The Wisconsin sports guy flat out states that Horne told him he never committed to NDSU at any time but somehow Kolpack and Dom say he did. And now he ends up at Michigan State. Hmmmm......who to believe? Priceless.

I see Woods got suspended from basketball for 3 weeks for violation of rules (along with other kids too).
-
No they won't - because they all do it and its a reality. This case was extremely unique because of the timing and what the kid said publically. I don't know many coaches in the world who would stick by a kid who said what he did, even after he accepted the offer. This is not Division II anymore. If the program is to become an FCS contender than they need to maximize their scholarships by giving them to the kids that are going to help the program and want to be here. Situations change and this one did once he starting tweeting his thoughts. Lets also remember, he was only offered a scholarship and then had it rescinded. He never signed a National Letter of Intent. It never got that far.

I have been following this situation and while I certainly respect your thoughts based on who you are, I must defend the staff on this one. The tweets were certainly enough to rescind the offer on their own merit. His tweets were negative about UND even AFTER he had gotten the offer and accepted verbally. He was questioning whether he really wanted to go to North Dakota, that he may say screw it and not play football at all - just stay out there. In fact, he said prior to the verbal scholarship offer that he did NOT want to go to North Dakota. These tweets were made available on this website and the overwhelming conclusion was that the kid did not really care about UND football and it showed. One thing to consider: if the tweets were not that bad, why did he delete them? Once again, I fully respect your opinion and I am disappointed that this did not work out. Your kid has talent and myself and others on here sincerely wish him the best.

I agree 100%. The chances of making the playoffs next year are pretty slim but why not give yourself the best chance possible? The only upside to this game is that they are saving a bunch of money by bussing up a dog. The athletic department bean counters like the game but I cannot find anybody else who does.

Unforutunately, that is the truth. It is more nostalgia and the "cool place to go" than anything. The meat is paper thin and the buns are generic. They live off of cheap white sauce that nobody else uses. Anyone who ever went to the Grinder Shop in Bismarck back in the day knows how Grinders are supposed to be made. He took the recipe and did it right - absolutely no comparison.
-
That is extremely disappointing to see. The team had stayed out of trouble for the most part for a while now. You would hope they are smarter than that but I guess not.
-
I know I could say the same thing about anybody. But his own coach said that - not the most flattering statement ever made by a coach.
-
Why did he take two weeks to commit to them if he was already going there? Not the case at all. If UND liked him they would have offered and tried to line up a visit. They did neither. But that's water under the bridge. He is going to NDSU and it's over.
-
Because he isn't worth the hassle that he will become. Multiple people have told me about his attitude and work ethic or lack thereof. Anyone who watched the state championship game will attest. Awhile back it was stated in an article that our coaches met with him----well, no offer was ever made from what I have been told. That should tell you something.
-
They can have him. I am glad UND decided not to offer. Plus I don't think he had any other choices other than D2.
-
Whatever you smoking, count me in. Seems like the good stuff.

That is my point. There is no Nebraska/Minnesota to wait on, NDSU and UND are as high as it gets. 2-3 years ago this is a slam dunk for NDSU and UND never even gets through the door. Now full-ride offers from NDSU are being put on hold until they talk to UND. This may not mean anything but at the very least it appears the threat of the transition killing recruiting is no longer. Now its up to the coaches to win some battles.
-
Of course NDSU is the front-runner, they are his only offer. What I found telling is that NDSU offers him a full-ride but he tells them to wait until he visits with UND and Moorhead. Their coaches couldn't have been too pleased by that. I mean what can UND do other than match what NDSU gave, since they gave the max?

When looking at the Wiseman kid, he is a zero-star at both Rivals and Scout but is a 3-star at ESPN. Very odd situation. He looks like a good player and a good get for USD.
