Yeah....forgot about him.  He should be pretty solid.  He reminds me of Shaw, it may take him a year or two to make an impact but should be nice for depth.

That's what scares me. We don't need depth defenseman.

    C. Poolman, C. Wolanin, H. Shaw, C. Johnson, A. Peski, D. Chartrand, J. Reiger

There's only room for 1 more (obviously assuming Wolanin doesnt leave).  Evers and/or Bast should come in.  That's a pretty thin D core.  On a side note, is Gabe Bast playing junior B hockey?  Looks as though he has 0 points in 5 games since joining the Surrey Knights.  I really hope that there is a technical glitch on elite prospects.

Isn't Kierstad coming in next year? I thought at this point he is the only guarantee?

It is my hunch that we will never see Gabe Bast in a UND uniform.

If that is the case and the big question mark on whether or not Evers is still in the plans, Berry and company are really going to have to get on their horse and find some solid D recruits for next season.

I could see Poolman turning into a solid player. Casey Johnson is another one, who I would expect to show significant improvement between this year and next year.

I know not the thread to get into this discussion but I don't get why so many have given up on Peski so fast? Yes he had his struggles early in the year but it is unquestioned he is the more talented of him and Casey Johnson in my mind. Casey will never have the foot speed and quickness Peski has. I think Peski has looked much better and more confident in his limited action recently which I give credit to him since it's tough to get your confidence back sitting in the stands and only practicing.

So when Wilkie, Smith and Olson were on the ice together...which they were if remember correctly...did Berry go with 2 wings on one side and one wing on the other side?

I recall Olson playing a couple shifts up the middle.   I could be wrong........and I have zero desire to go back and watch the game over to verify that.

I don't recall seeing those three on the ice together but maybe I'm wrong. I think I would have had a heart attack if I saw Olson playing center. You don't typically have your worst skater play center.

Really good stuff and I'll add a few thoughts:

-Olson looked good at center on 4th line in limited minutes.

-How Wilkie gets poweplay minutes is a question I'd like answered

-The 3rd line can match up defensively with any opposing line moving forward. Hoff and Bowen were great last night.

-Gersich really was tough to play against last night. Went into the dirty areas to make plays over and over.

-UND has to find a way to get solid shifts after they score. Goal 1 and give up a goal right away. Goal 2 seconds later Miami hits the crossbar.

-Boeser is a 100 foot player right now. That has to change.

    -Gardner is the new LJ.

Just an FYI at no time did Olson play center on Saturday night. He was listed that way on the line chart but they mixed and matched forward lines all night with no 4th line center.

Harper was sick. Also, he is awesome...just played on an awesome team.  He had two points for BU yesterday.  BU is going to be a very tough out later on this season.

I don't disagree that Harper is a good player.  I was just disagreeing with the statement that was made that said the BU players were 6 of the best players in the tourney.

How in the hell is anyone supposed to compete with BU? They didn't just have seven players at the world juniors, they had six of the best players in the tournament. I kind of want them in the tournament just to see how it would go but at the same time I want to avoid them. Those players were all studs.

I'm going to kindly disagree with you on this. Oettinger was the 3rd string goalie for the US and Harper was the 13th forward that didn't play a second in the gold medal game. McAvoy, Keller and Greenway are studs and Bellows and Fabbro are nice players but those 2 I wouldn't consider two of the best. Still ridiculous to have that many players from one team in the tourney.

I know, that's why I was thinking Evers is still committed.  Who knows I guess.  Bast is another huge question mark...this kid has barely played the last two years.  As soon as he makes it make there seems to be another long term injury.  I wonder what going on there.

I wonder if Gildon or Maniscalo could be options? Both de-commits whose stock has dropped quite a bit recently. CHL more likely for both though.

I still believe he's committed to UND but haven't heard anything.  His development seems to have stalled a bit so no clue what's going on.

If he is no longer committed with only Kierstad and Bast lined up for next year, I sure hope we are hot on the trail of some D recruits especially considering Bast's injury history. Not a lot of D committed for following years either.

Sounds like it was nagging from the get go- but if someone slashed my already hurt wrist,I might go bananas too

Yes it happened quite a while ago. He was in for an MRI in October so he played through it for quite a while and it got more and more noticeable each week. I thought he really struggled with it in Duluth.

To your last question I guess it depends on where his emphasis and priorities were hockey wise this season when the injury occurred..........UND's remaining schedule or making the WJC roster. Tough to really say both with an injury like this. If the "fix" was/is surgery regardless of the time frame it was discussed that was his call.........unfortunately it didn't mend with time off.  Statements have called it "minor" surgery.........it's never "minor" to the patient.

I'm sure it was a difficult decision for him as obviously he had his heart set on playing in the WJC. But us as Sioux fans in hindsight wish he would have had the surgery three weeks ago and would be ready to go for the second half of the season. Let's hope he's a fast healer and is back sooner rather than later.

Yes.  that is what I am saying.  Those people are preventing the University from moving on from the nickname.  Why it is just the hockey only fans, hockey coaches, former hockey players, etc that are the ones that continue to do this.

I never said that I expected everyone to be in love with it.  So you think its a terrible name and logo.  That's fine.  You don't have to be head over heels i love with it.  But don't revert back to a name that has been retired.  If you don't want to embrace the new name and logo, than cheer for "North Dakota".

The support for the new name and logo is very low ONLY by the hockey only fans.  Everyone else is getting on board

Are there "Fighting Hawks" chants/cheers at football/basketball or volleyball games? I've only been to hockey games so I really don't know and am curious if or what chants are started at other sporting events.

UND has played a couple of those team so this year and some last year and the production has been what? Just saying...........

I get that Wilkie hasn't produced yet but I just don't get why most just want to jump to put Olson back in who has done absolutely nothing for a year longer and is a junior. I'm sorry but he can't skate at this level. There's no doubt Wilkie is fighting the puck and the game is a little quick for him but his upside is much higher than Olson.

  15. I know somebody posted a while back the cheapest way to purchase nchctv for someone who attends all home games. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to find that post? I'm assuming I just need to purchase tonights single game and not the monthly pass?

Anyone else a little concerned about the recruiting classes?  Other than Jost no one is standing out, many are not scoring, and our defense looks weak not only this year but next.

The defense doesn't look the greatest "on paper" for future years but how many people thought some 5'9 kid from BC named Stecher was anything special when he committed? I think the forward crop for next year looks pretty good though.

Brock's trying to do too much and jost isn't getting involved.  Jost needs to lead his own line. Split them up at even strength

Totally agree and it's very obvious almost to the point where I'm starting to feel like he doesn't trust his teammates. The play where he got the puck before the blue line in our end and Wolanin was busting down the middle for a breakaway and he had ten strides to hit him and he didn't pass. If that's #9 busting last year he doesn't miss making that pass.
