Keep in mind, that while last year's team turned things around right after Christmas, the two years before that, the hot streak didn't start until the end of January, beginning of February. Are they playing to their potential? Probably not...but they also haven't hit "rock bottom" which generally comes before a hot streak.

I would hardly say that it hurts the program. However, Hak did say that players are a lot better when they come back from the WJT, so maybe he/she was referring to the lack of that addition after the tourney (that doesn't count as defending a gopher fan does it?). Besides, as you noted, this is definately a one-year thing.
