US Military has postponed a number of training exercises. I believe that included the European exercise but I would have to look that up. Only a fool would call this nonsense. There is room for discussion concerning what we should cancel and the media has been a big part of the problem. We don’t need to be scared but we need to be concerned. If medical people where you are from are treating this like the common cold they are ignorant morons. They should be able to go about their daily tasks as usual but dealing with this requires much more than the common cold. Lots of hype, plenty of over reaction but this isn’t the common cold and we can and do test for it.

Fever isn’t the marker. I said people with cough and fever should stay home. Testing depends on many factors, including recent, travel, occupation, known exposure, sore throat, cough, fever etc. I do believe every medical facility should have protocols in place that allow the health care providers to test without waiting time with some county administrator I can’t vouch for this source, but if you google www.worldometers.info it compares different counties from 3/14. The USA has one of the lower number of cases per million population (7.5/million). Of the present 2395 cases 10 were listed as critical. USA death rate was 2.2%. Some talk about hospitals overwhelmed with cases and no resources to care for the sick. I have family in the New Rochelle NY area which is the epicenter of one of their outbreaks and that isn’t the info they are hearing. For those of you experiencing that where are you?

It is a mistake for medical schools or residencies to change rotations for students and residents. This is how they learn. This is exactly where they should be.

Canceling unnecessary gatherings is important in minimizing the spread of this virus. Thinking everyone infected with COVID-19 should go to a clinic or hospital is flawed. That is the type of behavior that is more likely to overwhelm our system and spread the disease. People who are ill especially with cough and fever should stay home. The shouldn’t call an ambulance for non-emergencies. They should not go to ER or hospital until directed to unless they are experiencing a serious or life threatening emergency. They should not go to their clinics unless told to come in. There is no treatment yet for this virus except supportive care for serious cases that may need ventilators/oxygen/IV fluid resuscitation. That is why the 85% of people without serious symptoms should stay home. That is how we will have the resources to care for the other 15%. If you aren’t sick you likely won’t need to be tested. Stay away from hospitals and clinics where you are more likely to be exposed. I’m in a rural area and no one sits in the waiting room waiting. You are taken to an isolation room and evaluated by medical staff wearing appropriate protection. Please stop the scare tactics. If the public follow the advice to stay home when ill, wash hands and call before coming to clinic or hospital we can do a lot to further slow this thing.

Your co-workers who have cough and fever shouldn’t be at work in the first place. Testing for for COVID-19, if negative, only means it was negative that day. That is why you shouldn’t routinely test. It may give some a false sense of security. What is your protocol for routine testing? Every week? Every cough? Makes no more sense than your pulmonary testing. This is what happens as the government takes over health care. They take away providers authority to act appropriately and promptly. You should have protocols and triage system in place. When you have that your state and county authorities should authorize someone in your clinic and hospital to proceed with testing. Public service announcements and communication to your patients about the importance of hand washing, minimizing unnecessary exposure to groups or high risk areas, covering coughs etc. Staying home when sick and calling for instructions before coming to clinic or hospital are more important than making Oxbow wear a mask all day.

We don’t contact state or county. We can coordinate with our specialty staff and I certainly wouldn’t test everyone with a fever and respiratory symptoms. If people are following protocols, those people should stay home. I wouldn’t want them in my clinic or ER. If they stay home where they belong, they won’t infect people coming and going to the clinic. I believe that is how the attorney in New Rochelle exposed so many people. If people aren’t that ill we are going to send them home anyway so they shouldn’t leave home just to be tested.
-
It is incorrect to say “few people can get tested” in Mn or NDak. We have protocols in place in our rural clinic in a community of 1500. We have protocols in place at smaller clinics in the area. Why don’t you think you can get tested? Testing everyone isn’t necessary and would be a waste of resources. Why do you think Oxbow should wear a mask all day? There is no reason for healthy, asymptomatic people to routinely wear masks. Those who do the evaluation and testing wear them and other protective gear when appropriate. It isn’t that difficult to follow the daily communication from the CDC. We do not need to start testing every asymptomatic person. People need to wash hands frequently, cover their coughs, stay away from large crowds when not necessary. People who think they are starting to feel sick should wear a mask and stay home. If they start to feel seriously ill, they should contact their health care provider for instructions. They should not go to the ER or clinic before calling for instructions. They should not call an ambulance for non-emergencies. If people do that we will be much less likely to overwhelm our medical facilities and resources. To question the need to close schools is a reasonable debate. Thus far, children are least likely to get sick. The issues of proper nutrition, safe environments, family resources must be part of those discussions. We don’t have evidence to tell us whether or not closing schools will help or worsen the problem so right now you can reasonably argue both sides.

I sold my tix through UND ticket exchange which uses Ticketmaster cuz I will be in Az. I wonder how the people that bought those tickets will get their refund. Will Ticketmaster keep their fee? I bet somewhere in this exchange, fans may get screwed.

Impressive piece by the student journalist. Hopefully positive change with a good group of freshmen and new coach can get things back on track quickly. Wilkie probably would have done well had he stayed but it worked out for him. Fallyn needed to get away and flourished. I think her recent interviews and lack of improvement from start to finish were the keys factors in Chaves decision. Need to get new hire quickly to set a new positive culture in place. All of this is fodder for opposing teams to use in the recruiting battles.

Would you feel better if he ripped him? Brewster is gone, no reason to kick a dead horse. Heinert’s tweet suggests nothing of keeping him for any reason. It lists the highlights under Brewster. That is what a journalist should do. Fans should understand that and move on. The focus should be on what’s best for the program and how the hire the next coach. Chaves seems to know what he is doing.

I would agree.

No. I’m not sure how they would have justified their call to anyone but Hermantown had Hermantown won. Officials don’t have the discretion to change rules based on how they think the rule should be. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
-
I googled the rule. Clearly states can’t be in the crease. Says nothing about time in crease or goalie interference. Can’t be in crease before the goal. He was clearly in the crease before the goal. Hermantown May have attacked the refs but they should have made the call.
-
Hermantown player skates into the crease on his own before the goal. It should have been disallowed. It makes no difference whether or not that player interferes with the goalie. Replay clearly shows player in the crease before goal. Johnny Pohl wants to ignore the rule because the goalie wasn’t interfered with. Mahtomedi wins in OT. I guess that’s Karma.

I get a regular update on Coronavirus from multiple sources. There is no reason to panic. If you get a cough or flu like symptoms stay home. If you are healthy there isn’t a lot to worry about. If you get it it will likely be similar to a bad cold. It can be serious for elderly and those who are immunocompromised. People in this country who have died, aren’t healthy young and middle aged people. Don’t get your info from the media. Don’t get your info from politicians including the President. The CDC has regular updates. Your doctors should be able to provide answers to your questions.

Not that many go to GF for games.

Home schooled. Reportedly has taken a couple classes at HS this year. Reportedly nice kid. Large family. Related to former UND RB. Warroad lady with UND ties not sure if RB is older brother or cousin. She thinks Mom or grandma is a Marvin but not positive.

So instead of 36 forwards 18-24 d men and 6 goalies we get an “all-star” team with 1/3 those numbers. Why would anyone want to do that? Bragging rights for whom?? Too many people seem to forget that although the goal of the teams is to win, the purpose of high school athletics is so much more than that. The kids are better off with opportunities for 3 teams. Central, Red River and EGF have held their own over the years and if adults don’t screw things up those teams will continue to provide a great HS hockey experience for kids, including the opportunities to play post high school for those with the ability and desire.
-
Thus my question.
-
So Warroad fans claim UND, Gophers and UM Duluth all passed on Slukynsky. Anyone know the story? It’s hard for me to believe the kid chooses N Michigan over UND, Duluth, Wisconsin or the Gophers. The kid is big, strong, smart, plays both ends of the ice, great passer, great vision and can snipe. How did we lose him???

WM 5-3 final
-
Western Michigan scored 2 goals in 29 sec and added another all in 3rd to go up 5-3. 5:40 left
-
You’re kidding right? You “let it happen” and it could have been 6 on 4 the last few minutes. Thome did the smart thing. We need to stay out of the box no matter what.

What’s your point?

I understand these guys are better than Howe and Gundy.
