Uncalled for. With a little imagination I’m sure you can think of something more original or even mildly funny.
-
Maybe, if he is good enough, but what does Kaminski have that makes you think he will play ahead of either Feeney or Romfo?

I’m less concerned about Tommy’s running than getting the run game going for our RB’s. Your point is well taken in that teams don’t tend to worry about Tommy running. Tommy is typically running to avoid trouble. He isn’t a powerful runner nor does he have the speed and quickness of the better running QB’s. I don’t believe any D coordinator is designing a defense with a guy to pay attention to Tommy’s running potential. I still think the most important key to our success offensively is our line play. With an effective run game it allows Danny to open up the play book and gives whoever is QB time to go from wheel routes, bubble screens, and short crossing patterns to the 15-20yd deeper pattern. I share your concerns but for now it seems it’s Tommy so my comments are more on what he can do and what the team and staff need to do to help him be successful.

To state “Tommy doesn’t like to run” is nonsense. Unless he says that we don’t know. Running isn’t his strength. If need Tommy to run for 180yds we are in for a long afternoon. If we get 180yds from one of our RB’s we should be in good shape. If that happens we will get yardage from our other RB’s and that should help our passing game, hopefully by slowing down the pass rush and giving Tommy more time to get through his reads. I don’t think he needs to run for 180yds but if he can avoid turnovers and avoid the rush he can be effective. He can throw 30-40 yds When he has time. It also allows receivers more time to get open. The majority of long pass plays aren’t cuz the QB is throwing the ball 40-50yds to wide open receivers. If one looks at yesterday’s NFL box scores they list longest reception for all receivers. There were only 6 guys who caught a pass that went over 40yds and only 2 that went over 60yds. I would rather get to our reads faster, and see our receivers accelerate off of their breaks into the open seems against zone and away from defenders against man. I think that is one of the things that makes Belquist so effective. We have guys who can run a 4.5 maybe 4.4 40’s. We need to get open in the 10-25 yd areas. The 4.4-4.5 speed puts pressure on the defenders to respect the deep ball. but most long passes are from YAC not a guy who beats everyone on a go pattern. I agree with most who feel the key, as in most games, is the LOS. If we avoid turnovers, protect our QB and get a push off the LOS in the run game we will be tough to stop. Our defense must be able to stop the run and pressure their QB without letting them break free. They do throw to their TE and they will likely try to get guys open in crossing patterns. If we can do that, avoid any mistakes in punt/kick off, I like our chances. Lots of rhetoric to state we need a complete game every play from everyone of our guys.

He is averaging over 10 yds per completion and over 7 yds per attempt. I don’t believe he will put a team on his back and win games. What he does well is protect the ball and he doesn’t lose games for you. I think Feeney has a bigger upside but I’m not at practice everyday. Feeney needs to be patient and hopefully his time will come sooner rather than later. Don’t forget Romfo has also shown promise.
-
You don’t get to start cuz of your potential. Give the kid a chance to adjust to the speed and complexity of the college game.
-
No it isn’t impossible. We are trying to consistently beat the good FCS teams and a good FBS team once in awhile. I don’t see anyone claiming Kaminski isn’t very good with a great upside. The reason he isn’t playing now is that he isn’t ready and there are 3 guys in front of him who are ready. He may get some time yet this year as long as he doesn’t lose eligibility. Where do you get the idea that if he doesn’t play as a freshman he will leave?Feeney didn’t play as a freshman and stayed. I would expect the same from Kaminski. Both of them have coaches who should be able to guide them. No one knows if SDSU would have won a title had he stayed healthy. Maybe, maybe not. Grownowski probably would not have moved up if the starter, the back up, and the 3 were all completing over 70% of their passes with no ints.

Didn’t remember either incident.

When was the big fire at Sigma Nu and when did a guy get stabbed?

If Feeney was going to start it would have been against Western Illinois. When Gundy said Tommy is the guy I believe he meant that’s the guy who is the starter. I agreed that it looks that way moving forward. What I didn’t like was how they subbed. Both Feeney and Romfo need, and have earned playing time. I would prefer to leave them in for the entire drive rather than in and out every 2 or 3 plays. Jerry is best served by preserving his red shirt. I wouldn’t think he thought he would come in and start as a true Fr. He is a coaches kid and understands how it works. His time will come.

I agree that Schuster is the QB but Feeney has shown he is ready. Has done very well in every game this year. I don’t think we would see a drop off. He has a little different skill set. (stronger arm, less experience, different but effective runner). Romfo is also right there but a different skill set. Looks faster and quicker than Feeney or Schuster. He Although I wasn’t riding my bike, watching all of the QB’s throw, I have watched them throw. I don’t see a true freshman moving ahead of any of these guys right now. Kaminski has great potential. I would have liked to see Feeney earlier in the third, then give Romfo most of the fourth. Danny had said last summer Feeney had developed the confidence and leadership skills that he needed to walk in the room and take over. He also said we need to find ways to get Romfo on the field. Obviously they found a way. There is something to be said for a guy who never lost a game in HS. Someone must have reminded the staff that TE’s are eligible receivers. They haven’t been an integral part of our passing game for the last few years with the exception of throws to Zalvaney in the red zone. I’d like to see them even more involved but our line will need to pick up blitzes and the QB’s read those opportunities quickly. We had too many penalties. I didn’t like giving up the first down on the fake punt. I thought we tackled better. We had 5 sacks and overall defense kept play in front of them. Must continue to get better each game. We need to play our best game of the year Saturday.

Not yet.

The Sigma Chi House. We tried to get it on the National Registry but they didn’t have a category for it.

I asked the same question regarding refurbishing the older buildings. I was told the cost of asbestos removal and updating for technical needs etc was cost prohibitive. The campus is beautiful

Attended the program today. Standing room only. Great testimonies from Astronaut Karen Nyberg, former GFC and UND student Dr. Catherine Uhrich and Quincy Vaughn among others. Nice presentation. Campus looks great. Andy Armacost is doing a great job. Impressive work already by alumni staff and the Forever UND committee.

Adam isn’t going to be an assistant coach at this level.

Oddball: Moriarty, is that you?

Schmidt did a good job here. Good coach.
-
He ran for 798yds and 18 TDs in high school.
-
The kicker was fine. He kicked 3 of 4 into end zone. 2 touchbacks and the one run back was a yard into the end zone. Last KO was out of bounds. He made his XPs. KO coverage wasn’t good on the one they returned but brought back to 9 yd line cuz of penalty. Punter was inconsistent. Had 2 in the 37-39 range. Great first punt and a 65 yd bomb that was returned for 51 yds. Punter made open field tackle to save TD. 2 missed tackles by punt coverage should have pinned them deep on the long punt.
-
Not sure what the hell they were thinking. We pick up 5 yds on first down. So we send Vaughn on a wildcat sweep? Most teams would try to run the ball and establish the run game to get our oline into some sort of rhythm. If we only gain 2 next play it’s a manageable 3rd and 3. Having said that, we were dominated on both sides of the LOS and couldn’t tackle a cheerleader. Schuster was way too slow with his reads. Can’t get away with that when your o line isn’t playing well. I realize SDSU had pulled most of their starters but Feeney made quick reads and got the ball to receivers on the break. They should have had Feeney in after our first series of the second half. Embarrassing showing today.
-
Only thing I would disagree with is that is that we had more than “some tackling deficits. I bet we have had more than 20 missed tackles.
-
Ask them. Athletes at this level aren’t “pleased” losing.
-
They lost a game where they hadn’t played well. That doesn’t mean they are discouraged regarding the rest of the season, but I responded to a post regarding “everyone is pleased”.

Michigan State. The guy is an idiot. (I think he was a good coach though). I should probably refrain from comments like: always hang up the phone before……. the experts can fill In their favorite phrase.
