This is what I find most interesting. Are they talking about reclassifying the whole NCAA system? Is it possible that they will decide that the only "full" DI schools will be those in conferences such as Big 10, Pac 10, ...
As always, nice find S2C.
This story caught my eye because UND's Greg Weisenstein is on the list of candidates for FGCU, as well as listed as a possible UND candidate. The story is actually about a wealthy businessman from Michigan who is also a candidate at FGCU. After reading it started me thinking as to what qualities UND is looking for in their next president. Obviously fundraising and research dollars are a huge part of todays presidents, but beyond that would you like to see from the next UND president?
I realize this thread is in reference to D2 as a whole, but the NCC coaches and media polls are out and UND is on top of both of those polls.Sioux sit atop NCC preseason media, coaches polls
I saw this in the paper this morning and thought it pertinent as UND is looking for a new president.. Presidential paycheck UWF is a 40 year old Division II school that is transitioning from a commuter school to room/board type school. Beautiful campus in the woods 10 miles north of downtown. My property backs up to UWF, so I do lot of hiking in "their" woods.
I lived in GF pretty much all the way through college and the only time we really went to Fargo when I was a kid was for the UND/NDSU basketball games and even then we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Moorhead. Other than that Fargo was on the way to Mpls. Nothing against Fargo, it just wasn't a real draw for us.
If it does prevent movement from FCS to FBS, then the talk of Montana and/or Sacramento St. moving up will die. It also mean that there will be more stability within the conferences which doesn't help UND.
UND, like NDSU, has been a Division I school for years and just didn't realize it. I was skeptical when NDSU made the jump and if you go back in my past posts you can probably see a comment regarding that. Whether it was NSDU or the possibility of global warming that made UND move doesn't matter to me at this point. I'm just thankful that the move was made before the door closed.
The first weekend in November is the weekend that I have chosen. Football, Men's and Women's hockey and soccer all are at home that week. What they used to refer to as Siouxper weekend. Can't wait.
And the ad campaign has begun. Simple, but nice ad.
I see the sponsor of the ad is Canad Inns. Like I said in another thread the potential for game day at Alerus/Canad is huge.
With UND going into the FCS, hopefully in the next couple of years they'll be playing some teams in the south. I'd love to take a little trip over to Louisiana to see a game.
Talented UND offense to aid green QB
Has anyone had the opportunity to watch Freund?
Someone at the Forum didn't get the memo that you don't call it I-AA anymore, lest you be flogged by a certain group of people.
