McFeely blogged the following...Sioux TV show gets higher ratings than Bohl's show
Lennon's show (the coach has since left UND to take a job at Southern Illinois) drew a 9.0 rating and 29 share in the 10:30-11 p.m. time slot on Sunday nights on WDAY and WDAZ.Bohl's show drew a 0 rating and 0 share in the 10:30-11 a.m. time slot on Sunday mornings on KXJB.
Another industry insider told me the actual viewer numbers were estimated to be this: About 15,000 households (homes with TVs on) watched the Sioux football show when it aired during the ratings period from 10:35 to 11:05 p.m. Sundays, while about 950 households (homes with TVs on) viewed the Bohl show when it aired during the ratings period from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sundays.
For someone who want people to please act sanely, he sure knows how to stir the pot.

Iowa State men: North Dakota takes Princeton plunge
And a familiar coach will be directing North Dakota's version of the Princeton offense. Brian Jones, who played at Northern Iowa, was an assistant coach at Iowa when he got the North Dakota job before the 2006-07 season."I was a motion coach my first year,'' Jones said. "But I looked at other programs in similar situations, and this gives us a chance to recruit geographically.''
North Dakota has adapted to the change in philosophy, bringing a 10-game winning streak to Hilton Coliseum.
"Everyone has bought into what we're doing,'' said Jones, who was 11-17 last season.

And the challenge...
What do you say, Bison and Sioux fans whose IQs exceed the uniform numbers worn by Steve Walker or Danny Freund? Can we rise up? Can our voices be heard as one? Can we talk?Or are we forever doomed to have our conversations commandeered by cinder blocks whose idea of an insightful comment is,

Just because they did not open it up officially to outside canidates, I am sure they had coaches who were interested inquire about the job so they had a good idea who was out there. I think that in Mussman they saw a rising star who was ready for the next step. I think he is a great hire and he is hit the ground running.
Thanks SloStang. I agree that Mussman is a good hire. He is part of a system that has been successful and has been at UND so long he is part of the UND family. An outside search would have taken time and could possibly yielded the same results.
Good luck Chris.

He was UND's offensive coordinator the past seven years, and also assistant head coach for the past four years. Now that that is done, let's get things rolling.

Garrett Callahan's brother Griffan transferring to SDSU
This is called leaving with class.
"Up there, their good players get away with more stuff, and I know with coach (Scott) Nagy that's not the case," Griffan Callahan said Monday night from his parents' home. "I think SDSU has better coaches."This kind of answers the question that I had in post #11.

Nice little piece on Brian Jones...RI native helps bring North Dakota into D-I

Bohl is a good coach. It is just a matter of time until the right job opens up for him as it did for Lennon.
-
Most folks around Siouxsports seem to think that Mussman will be named Head Coach tomorrow. Who will be hired as assistant coaches?

UND press release on the Callahan departure from the program.
Since I know nothing about the kid, was this a huge loss or does it just open up another scholarship?

We would be the Force of the North.
No I'm not advocating a name change to the Force of the North. I'm just using the term.

Any word on anyone besides Mussman applying for the job?

Catering to that 10 percent that love to be mascots
The University of North Dakota is fighting to retain a mascot they call the Fighting Sioux. The people they are aping no longer call themselves Sioux, but instead call themselves by their traditional names. Sioux was a bastardization of French and Ojibwe which could be interpreted as -
Geaux Sioux---
If they end up playing at SELA you and I will have to head up the tailgating committee for that game....I live near Biloxi and the drive over there can't be more than an hour or so.
Count me in for that. Star2City lives along the coast as well, so we should be able to get some nice numbers there. My wife has some friends who graduated from Southeastern to round things out.

Oops, I see that the USD at Southeastern is a "confirmed" game.
