Ahhhhh.......I digress. My apologies about the Herald. Glad to hear that they covered it. Might have to go buy a paper right now. However, I still do think that there should be a story on the website also. Whether the Herald is associated with the website directly or indirectly, the vested interest they have in the website should motivate them to find out why nothing is on the website. If the Herald doesnt run it or control it, they might want to check into who is running it and ask why its not on there.

Congrats to the Baseball team on a great win over the bison. Also, congrats to the Grand Forks Herald on not having a thing in the paper today in regards to that game. Unbelievable. I was looking forward to reading something on it today, but found nothing. Maybe it was in the actual paper, but nothing is on the website. Simply unacceptable. How could you not cover the ONE time that these two teams play this year. ESPECIALLY after the performance they displayed against NDSU's best pitcher yesterday. Doesn't really surpise me though. Good job Sioux Baseball, now keep it up through conference play.

ahhhh yes, the mighty, gentle giant from allendale has awoke from his winterland slumber. good to hear from you bigmrg.

Jared Bruggeman would and should never get it. Im not worried about that. Rob Bollinger is the man for the job.

Good points LyRoMaTo. Interesting name you have too. Is the "Ma" part of your user name writing nice things about your roommates? Very Clever......

Again, Coach Lennon made the right call by punting. That's the way he coaches. Certain coaches have certain philosophies and styles of coaching. This just happens to be the best coach in DII football's philosophy. There shouldn't be an element of surprise here. I know, hind-sight is always nice. Some of you should quit your day jobs and become a coach since you are so insightful and knowledgeable about it. I'm not saying all of you, just some. I realize that some here actually know what they are talking about, and I respect the opinions of that certain "handful". Get over it, that's not why we lost the game. Pitt State was the better team that day. Players win and lose games, not coaches.

I guess we agree to disagree then.

Ok, bigmrg, you of all people should be thinking the opposite. Against UND, you had at least 2 chances to kick the FG and instead went for it on 4th down, not getting either of them. Let's say you only make one of them. 19-18 makes it a FG to win instead of going for a TD being down by 4. If you make them both, then its 21-19 in your favor, but then who knows what UND does after that. The sicatoka is exactly right, everybody would have been up in arms if UND had went for it and not gotten it. Gotta punt the ball. That's coach Lennon's style. I don't see why everyone is so surprised that he didnt go for it. Rooker, you are just wrong, that's all. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you.

You are a moron. You have to punt the football there. Halfmann's punt was an unexpected beauty into the wind, it landed at the 1 and bounced into the end zone. If Donovan Alexander finds the ball in the air, he could have caught it at the 1. That is the way Dale Lennon has done it the whole time he has been here. He did it that way in 2001 and 2003, both seasons in which we went to Alabama. Must be nice to be able to sit there and "arm-chair" it huh? Your posting name is fitting.

A few things......... 1) Nick Mertens is a GREAT competitor and winner. I hope like hell that he goes to UND and not the farm yard down south. However, he is not full-ride football scholarship material. Maybe with some academic money also, he could be close to one here. 2) Stop bashing our QB's please. Considering what they have been through at the position, I'd say we are lucky that they have performed as well as they have. Injuries have hurt their continuity and practice time with the offense. Starting 3 different qb's, with 2 of them being sophs and starting for the first time this year, I'd say that it isn't the easiest thing to do. QB is a very mentally and psychologically demanding position. Hard to be sound in both those areas when you have physical ailments keeping you from gaining the confidence needed from playing every down. 3) All that being said, I hope Mertens comes to UND. He is one hell of a competitor, and most of all, he is a winner. I just agree with some of the people on here, and will say that I don't think UND will offer him a full-ride for football. I just think that there is more to the equation than a lot of people think when it comes to recruiting a QB. STAY HOME NICK!!!!!! NDSU just wants to use you for their own propoganda's sake. They haven't ever been able to get our local kids, like we have gotten a lot of Fargo's. This is their way to say that because they are D1, they can steal kids like you because they offer fulls. Steve Walker is there starting as a freshman. Unless you think you can beat him out, you wouldn't be starting until your junior year. Remember that. Make the right decision for yourself, Nick. GO SIOUX!!!!

All I have to say is wow!!! You'd think that this was a message board for strictly college football coaches. Because apparently, you are all experts. Seriously look at the game thread, and look at the negativity that some of you have displayed. But then, when we came around and pulled it out, everything is "duckies and bunnies." I'm willing to bet that most of you are vikings fans too. All I hear is: Jeff Glas sucks, play calling is terrible, QB's suck, WR's cant catch. I am truly embarrassed to hear some of you bitch and moan about football when you have no idea what the hell is going on. If you guys know so much about the game, then maybe you should quit your day job and become a college coach, or player, and then all our problems will be solved. What a lot of you don't realize is that it's all about the system and tradition that we have at UND. We have been out-manned physically on the field many times in the past 4 years, but yet we still manage to win. Do the math. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion on an internet message board when you can post anonymously behind some log-in name. Some are just more football savvy than others when it comes to the knowledge of the game. WAKE UP!! I would be more than happy to talk football with any of you geniuses in person whenever it is convenient for you. Good luck to the sioux this weekend @ Pitt. GO SIOUX!!! 2001 National Champions

Wow, that sounds like a reasonable price to fly from Grand Forks to small town Michigan. And everything is included? I think anyone interested in going to the game should consider filling the charter flight for that price. Especially considering that you will be supporting the football team in helping foot the bill for the trip. Fly cheap, watch the sioux advance, and support the team financially all at once? Sounds like a hell of a deal to me. Let's fill that plane and go watch the sioux kick some butt!! For those of you waiting to see if it's on TV, it doesn't sound promising. I'd be surprised if they televise it. Might as well just book our flights now while there is still room. See you in Houghton, sioux fans. GO SIOUX!!!

Well, there is a dome 70 miles south where there for sure wouldnt have been a playoff game. They could have moved it there, I'm sure.
-
Sorry guys, I guess Dakotaboy beat me to the punch by 1minute.
-
Not sure if this has already been mentioned or not, but I just checked d2football.com, and they have the new regional rankings out, with UND in 6th. I think that's good news, considering we play the 8th team that has only loss. However, if GVSU were to beat Mich. Tech, then we may have some problems. We'll see what happens. Just beat the Yotes bad, and let it play out. GO SIOUX!!

It's kinda hard to pick which side of the fence you want to be on when your nuts are caught.
-
I am very disappointed to hear about this. I can't believe that they just would let this fade away. Some sioux fans count on this stuff as their way to keep track of UND athletics. Our administration needs to take responsibility and pride in this type of thing. It's one of the many ways that alums stay in touch with UND athletics.
-
Ok, lets talk about schedules then. You first victory of the year cam against a non-scholarship "DI-AA" squad. Next week, you have an NAIA team that just beat Jamestown College this week. Don't come here and talk about schedules. In fact, just don't come here at all. Nobody ever mentioned ndsu in this thread until you had to come on here and have diarrhea of the mouth. Go away, you are pathetic.
-
they would have lifted the red-shirt off of chris beatty before riza mahmoud. riza wasn't eligible his first year as he was a "partial qualifier" academically.
-
Sounds like St. CLoud had just over 4,000 for their game. That's for the stadium-opener. We'll see how much better attendance gets. I'm guessing a slow decline is in order, once the stadium loses its luster. But I may be wrong.
-
UND does red-shirt all its FB players. The last one to Not red-shirt was Jim Kleinsasser. The coaching staff WANTS kids to red-shirt.
-
well i'll answer it for you, then. when talking about the Big Sky, ndsu would have to dump sdsu and take UND as a partner. it would only make sense for the conference and travel costs. i think its fairly obvious.
-
by the way, there is no confusion over the words "WANT" and "NEED". ndsu WANTS and NEEDS UND in all tenses, past, present and future. don't kid yourself.
