  1. Some seem to be arguing that any new nickname would be better than having none - I disagree, I think it depends entirely on what the new nickname choices will be. I would be satisfied if after the list of choices has been decided upon that "continue remaining only as the University of North Dakota" is added to it. Of course for that to be meaningful, those voting on it would have to be a suitably wide cross section of those with real interest in UND and its athletic programs. I fear that will not be the case - I suspect President Kelley will choose a voting populace that is sure to give him exactly the name he wants, and that there will be no real "choices" - which is to say that a safe majority of those that will be allowed to vote on the issue will be vastly more concerned with confirming their PC credentials than with what is truly in the best interests of UND and its athletic programs.
  2. Lots of buffering and skipping ahead but no pixelating for me using Apple TV via iPad to view today's football game.
  3. It's my understanding that none of the games broadcast by CBSSN will be available by webcast.
  4. I'm going to look at it more closely tomorrow night, but it seems the live webcasts are of higher quality than the on demand ones - which surprises me, so, as I say, I'm going to look at it more closely to make sure it really is the case. Looks like you've found another way to go - saved $50 by doing it, with only the downside of having your iPad physically tethered to your TV - nice!
  5. I know this is a dumb question, but you do have Apple TV, right? If you don't I don't see how Air Play to your TV will work. If you do have Apple TV, you might try checking to see that you have a strong wireless signal to your iPad AND the Apple TV.
  6. Are you running iOS 7 on your iPad? If so, I'm not sure that there will be a huge benefit to an app specifically for the iPad. The iPhone app seems to work just fine - it seems to know how big your screen is - no need (or option) to hit the "2x" button to enlarge the image to come close to filling the screen.
  7. The iPhone app works very well with an iPad - I think the upgrade to iOS 7 might have helped with that too. Be sure the iPad is running iOS 4.3 or later - I would advise updating to the latest possible iOS before using to stream with Apple TV. Target was selling Apple TV for $95 this weekend - not nothing, but when compared to a FTA satellite setup, not unreasonable either. You'll also need an HDMI cable to hook up the Apple TV to your HDTV - I happened to have an extra, so I didn't have to lay out more cash for that. Apple TV also allows you to stream other things such as Netflix, etc., if that is of any interest or benefit.
  8. I was excited to hear on the forum that Friday's game could be steamed live on a HDTV via Apple TV and Air Play through an iPhone, so Saturday morning I bought an Apple TV at Target (on sale!). I was generally pleased with Friday's webast on HDTV via a laptop, but the "full screen" option didn't completely fill the TV screen, it was kind of "stop motion" in character, and hooking up my laptop to my TV is kind of clunky. I was disappointed to learn that webcast via iPhone was not available Saturday, at least not until the 3rd period. I hooked up my laptop to my TV for the first two periods and I think the quality was even better than on Friday - more smooth, less "stop motion". For the third period, I used the Apple TV via iPhone app on my iPad - I was blown away - very easy to use, completely filled the TV screen, very smooth imaging and a very good picture. Maybe not completely HD, but definitely the best webcast I've seen on my TV - much better than the FCS broadcast of years past, and better even than the SD broadcast via FTA satellite. If you have a compliant iPod, IPad, or iPhone with high speed wreless internet (I'm using a cable modem and wireless router with Comcast internet service), I highly recommend Apple TV - I only hope my third period experience from last night is typical - if so, I will be completely satisfied - it is the best option so far for regularly watching home Sioux games - a complete home run. I think the picture may improve to true HD if and when Neulion make an app specfically for Apple TV. Thanks Jayson et al!
  9. Anyone see the video for tonight's game listed on the iPhone app?
  10. Anyone see the video for tonight's game listed on the iPhone app?
  11. Jayson, what does that mean to those of us that have already paid for and downloaded the 2013-2014 premium app upgrade? Will the live streaming automatically become a new feature? Will we automatically be prompted to update the app? Will we have to pay again to update the app? Thanks
  12. Jayson, I have upgraded to the 2013-2014 iPhone app and I do not see anything but radio broadcasts for live events (no video). Can you point me to the best resource for resolving this, or is live video not yet available through the app? If not, when can we expect to see the live video events show on the schedule? Also per this link (see below), it appears Neulion makes content available via mobile devices, gaming devices and Roku and Apple TV. Will UND Insider be available on these platforms? If not, why? If so, when? If not immediately, what are the hurdles that prevent it? Since an Apple TV unit that virtually fits in the palm of your hand can be had for $99, and is specifically designed to work with HDTVs (unlike computers, which can be made to work, but rather clumsily) that is something that has particularly whetted my interest. I imagine many others would also share that interest. Thanks http://www.neulion.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=30000&SPID=122708&SPSID=725711
  13. And I obviously disagree - when you can find the things I did on their streaming service provider's website, people are going to ask questions and wonder if those options are available and if not, why? It's better to be in front of it than to have people begin to speculate wildly, which never does anyone any good. It's surprising how much bad news people will accept when time is taken to fully explain the situation - at least that has been my experience. There will always be some that are just totally unreasonable and will never be satisfied regardless of the effort taken or the facts, but those people just have to be written off.
  14. When you lose nationwide TV coverage of all home games for your premier athletic program, it's wise to do all you can to convince people you are actively pursuing alternatives beyond just traditional streaming (even if it is now in HD) - efforts to this point have been short of that IMHO.
  15. Then UND should do a better job of communicating what is possible and what is not (and why) - and specifically what the plan is going forward, giving regular progress reports. Giving technical details about how one can implement the new options would also help their cause considerably.
  16. That is to me the most troubling - although I know nothing about it, it has certainly been already done by others - it is not without precedent - so why hasn't it already been done for UND Insder? Have they simply failed to find the right technical resources?
  17. Looking at this (link below), it seems we should be able to stream via Neulion on mobile devices, gaming devices, and on Roku and Apple TV. At $99 for Apple TV, I'm especially interested in that option, but it would definitely be nice to be able to have all the details about how these different platforms work - specifically with UND sports live events. http://www.neulion.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=30000&SPID=122708&SPSID=725711
  18. Jayson, I think my question may have gotten lost in the crap storm that started flying later in the weekend. I'd e-mail you, but I thought it best to have the question posed and answered where others could see it. I thought of sending you a PM to make you aware of my question on this forum, but that seemed a bit too pushy, although I can see too how you might find that helpful - maybe that's something else you can address - when posting a question to you on these forums, would you prefer getting a PM from the poster to alert you of it? Anywho, in order to avoid having to dig back through the thread to see what my original question was, please find it below: "...Big Sky TV has a very nice feature - it can be streamed natively on an iPad - will UND Insider be able to do the same from the outset for Men's home hockey games this season? Thanks"
  19. Jayson, I hope you are still monitoring comments to your post - Big Sky TV has a very nice feature - it can be streamed natively on an iPad - will UND Insider be able to do the same from the outset for Men's home hockey games this season? Thanks
  20. Yes, I'm sure you'll be much more satisfied when the teams are known as the "Spirit".
  21. I think you will find marketing will be significantly worse when the sure to be indescribably lame new name is chosen - don't fool yourselves - given who it is that will be doing the choosing it will certainly be indescribably lame.
