  1. I'm 100% positive the Kleins are not going to pack up and move to Minnesota, or ship their son off for his senior year. The only place Klein is going to go other than North, is the USHL or NAHL. I'm not sure if people understand how difficult it is to transfer schools that are not within say 30 minutes of eachother. You have to remember that these kids parents have jobs and they probably aren't going to just up and quit so there kid can play high school hockey somewhere else. Coincidentally, Grand Rapids has a Pepsi plant like one of these two kids parents work for I believe so that would have been the only logical possibility. Tyrel McBain from waaaaay west to Fargo South? I highly doubt it. It's been done but a player really has to be commited to the sport and the circumstances have to be near perfect. It's not going to happen. Besides I don't know why someone would transfer from a school where he had success to one where he might not even play varsity like Fargo South. If he really thinks he is not getting good enough coaching where he is now, his best bet would be to research the coach and program that does the most off ice workouts and what kind of practices they run. Thats how you develop. Not by jumping ship onto the team you think has the best chance of winning state the next year. Normally people post things that they have knowledge on, or a topic they know something about. Otherwise they will look foolish claiming opinions they hold to be facts, when in all reality they are not facts.
  2. No. What I said was, in the first game the score could have been 6 or 7-2. Read it again. Excuses are pretty lame in hockey but I can see why the scores were how they were. The 89's had more to play for. If they lose big deal, if they win they are on top of the world. Team ND probably walked in overconfident, like MN against Holy Cross. Who was the better team? Minnesota. Who was the better team that night? Holy Cross. Paul Campell, Marc Mihulka, and Greg Slominski did not play in game 2. Andy Dittus, Brandon Schmidt, and the goalie that played, David Bown, had prom the night before. I bet they played the best games of their lives. There was no way Team ND could have won by a significant margin in the 2nd game given the circumstances.
  3. How sweet would this be... 1. Kessel 2. Johnson 3. Toews 4. Staal 5. Okposo Gopher Power play- Kessel, Johnson, Okposo, Irmen, and Hirsch.
  4. It's hard to tell the "real story" when you are not at the games and cannot get the scores correctly. Again last year the 89's had the 88-87's down a goal for a majority of the game until the 88-87's exploded out to a 7-1 win. With the goaltending they got this year it was nearly impossible to pull that off. If they 89's got goaltending like that every time they played, they might win every time, but that's not likely.
  5. Team ND lost one game and tied one game. The 88/89's have a goalie that is a backup for the Sioux Falls Stampede. Team ND outshot the 88/89's something like 50-23. In the second meeting Team ND controlled the play all the way but were without Paul Campell, Marc Mihulka, and Greg Slominski. Also Minot had prom the night before and those players were definitly feeling it's effects. Without that USHL goalie the first game it could have easily been something like 6 or 7-2.
  6. My favorite team is Maine actually.
  7. Well if you made anywheres near a 500,000 you probably wouldn't have time to run your mouth on a message board. I love the jersey pop.
  8. Funny. The Wild obviously enjoyed the jersey pop, don't you think? The look on the Sioux fans student section faces was priceless. Love it or hate it, Irmen dominated every time he stepped on the ice, especially against the Sioux. That's why it hurts so bad for you to see him succeed. You know what is really hilarious. If Danny signs, and then did move back to Fargo to work at Scheels, he still would have made more money in 3 years than you would have in your entire life. Well that's life huh? Congratulations Ryan Goodluck Danny!
  9. Too bad North Dakota doesn't get a pro team, I'd love to see the jersey pull when the Wild mop up the ice with them.
  10. We will never know if they would be winners at every level because apparently they are too far ahead of the college game to stay and toy with the likes of the Fighting Sue. I wish all the best to Ryan and Danny, and if there place is elsewhere then, as tough as it is to swallow, they've got my support. The news of these two leaving must be music to your ears. I mean, look what kind of damage they did against the Sue! P.S.- I know the Gophers lost to Holy Cross, and did not advance to the Frozen Four.
  11. I would never bring up my opinions on who I believed was the better team unless provoked. I came in here arguing in favor of RyPo. And it snowballed because a Gopher fan can't say anything on this board anymore. I should have realized that earlier. See ya.
  12. Irmen and Potulny are used to success at every level. I find it hard to believe they will leave without another shot at the title. I forgot about Hirsch. He led the Gophers in scoring the last season he participated in and I bet the Gophers would really enjoy his return. Just curious, who do the Sioux have coming in next year for freshman? I wouldnt expect many because of the generous amount they have this year. Any info?
  13. How is that laid out really well? You all wanna talk about Gopher fans arrogance and I say the Sioux are playing great and I get immature responses like this? I like how you left out the 6-1 win the Gophers posted the same weekend. And that the win the Sioux had they got an empty net. What's that all worth? Nothing, all I said was the Gophers will be the most talented team in the nation next year with all their guys returning. I don't see how that can be argued with the group of guys they have. If you want to look at stats of teams one team beat and the other team lost to just look at the regular season records, but where does that get us? Nowhere.
  14. Obviously I can't get any sort of response with out hearing "Sioux are going to the frozen four, Gophers are not, blah blah." I know these things, Sioux are playing great right now and are a great tournement team. Gophers were not. Why do I think they'll get it done with Irmen and Potulny? Because they've won at every level. State championshi youth, HS, and Jr. What is to make me think that they'll stop at NCAA? Nothing. Adding up old stats does nothing to make me feel better about the weekend(s), I'm truly dissapointed, just stating a fact that when the Sioux and Gophers played the Gophers have outplayed them nearly every time this season. I don't think anyone would disagree? Most talented team in the nation next season- possibly, if everyone returns- most definitly. It's hard to argue with arguably three top ten picks in this years draft: Erik Johnson, Kyle Okposo, and Phil Kessel. Not to mention Blake Wheeler who was the 5th overall pick and will improve upon his not so dominant season. Hey as much as I hate the Sioux, if them winning is good for ND hockey, I'll support them all the way, until the play the Gophers and thats that.
  15. Sioux are playing great right now. That does not change the fact that Gophers beat the Sioux by a grand total of 16-11 and were 3-1 against them. The Sioux are hot at the right time, I tip my hat to them and their coaching staff for that. All I can do now is look forward to next year, with the most talented team in the nation, hopefully the Goph's will be the most motivated and focused too. Kyle Okposo Erik Johnson:)
  16. If I was a sioux fan I would be praying to my God that Irmen and Potulny did not come back next year. With all that talent coming back with the talent they already have, and now even more motivation. I think Irmens jersey pop is still in the same place it was last time, on the ice, when the Gophers are beating the Sioux. Great upset for Holy Cross, the Sioux really dodged a bullet on that one.
  17. Rough road the for Bison this weekend.
  18. Don't use the guy as quoted being "the next great one" in this discussion. Irrelevant.
  19. The tougher route goes to the player that is a lesser player. How many first rounders are there each year anyway? 30. If you can honestly sit behind your computer and say that a 30th pick and 31st pick are not interchangeable your out of your mind. Thats the difference between first and second round, one spot. You don't think maybe a number 65 pick could be better than a 33 pick? The way you see it is, a number one pick is always better than a number 2,3,4,5,6 pick. If that was the case every year the number one overall pick would flourish in the league. But that's not the case, because believe it or not scouts and GM's make mistakes on draft day and I can assure you they make up for it by getting ahold of the right player and putting him in the lineup. If all were to stay... Hobey Baker 2006-Ryan Potunly 2007-Danny Irmen 2008-Phil Kessel 2009-Erik Johnson haha
  20. Stats of two NHL goalies. Those players I pulled out were the studs. If you want I'll list the hundreds that played in a whole lot of games. I listed more than 6th rounders, just a good point. I bet people were saying the same thing about Hull (He'll be a 3rd liner at best...blah,blah). No one in here has any more knowledge than anyone else to say that Stafford and Zajac will be more successful than Irmen and Potulny. As far as right now, Potulny leads the nation in goals and points. He's in the same league as UND so difference in competition is not a factor. He is outplaying them both.
  21. Again, the best players will play in the NHL not the highest draft picks. Everyone knows that in most cases the best player for that year goes in the first round. But that does not by any mean say that a guy drafted in the 6th round isn't actually a far superior player (Brett Hull). You don't seem very sure of yourself with all your "most likely's" and your marketing idea. Probably because you have no real factual evidence to support your case, just your own views and nothing more. Who is a better marketing agent, Dany Heatly (first round) or Martin St. Louis (undrafted). Your way to fixated on draft number. Potulny for Hobey!
  22. The context of JackMickelson's "It will be different" is far different than the interpretation your giving. The topic at hand was Fargo South winning or not winning state and you said it won't be different than any other year with and all GF final. When he said "It will be different" I think everyone else in here was able to figure out Jack was saying Fargo South will win state. That's what I got out of it anyway. Fargo South won state, it's done, it's over, lets move on.
  23. If my memory serves me correctly, and it usually does, JackMickelson replied to your post by saying "It will be different." In my eyes that seems to be a prediction that Fargo South will win and not a GF school. And he was right. Great prediction.
  24. So when a guy goes from draft day to NHL without improving a lick they are gonna give him the world? Go find a few of your favorite NHL players and see how many of them spent 1-2 years in the minors first. I wouldnt count Lessard out just yet. Markus Naslund certainly wouldnt. If high draft picks are more important than college stats? What if Stafford had 7 points this year and Irmen had 140. Or vise versa? Drafted in the first round? Big deal. Scott Mellanby-2nd round Patrick Roy- 3rd round Brett Hull-6th round Cliff Ronning-7th round Luc Robatille- 9th round Gary Suter- 9th round Joe Nieuwendyk-2nd round Mike Richter-2nd round Igor Larionov-11th round Adam Graves-2nd round Mattieu Schneider-3rd round Mark Recchi- 4th round Tony Amonte-4th round Rob Blake-4th round Alexander Mogilny-5th round Nicklas Lidstrom- 3rd round Sergie Fedorov-4th round Pavel Bure-6th round Sergie Zubov-5th round Ziggy Palfy-2nd round Chris Osgood-3rd round Go tell one of those guys that Irmen and Potunly don't have a chance because they were 3rd rounders.
