  1. to JackMickelson... Adding to your list of Under rated players... Eric Galt- This kid doesnt get enough credit, if any. Last year he was an unknown, and now I believe he could be the best defensemen in the state, behind Marto. Tyler Klein- As a sophmore its difficult to get recognition unless your putting up monster numbers. He has a nice chunk of goals and from what I hear is on the number one line on a stuggling Fargo North. Hopefully they can pull it together. Ben McClean (spelling?)- This kid can be fantastic, leaving opponents baffeled when they walk away empty handed on what would usually be a routine goal. I watched him against North and he stood on his head in the final few minutes, only to let in a lazer to a previously mentioned under rated player Nick Klenow. Maybe this is why he is not given the credit he deserves, his consistency. Who knows? Tom Campell- I havent heard his name mentioned too much around these rooms and I question, why? This kid can score with the best of them. He has deceptive speed and nice hands. He could work on his d-zone coverage, but he's in high school and most high school forwards are focused on scoring. Who do you think are the most OVER rated? My picks are as follows... 1. Jake Vigen- Jake is a strong defensemen who makes the right plays at the right time... however, I think you may give him too much credit. I may say this because I dont like to give credit to a bigger player unless they really show me something, big guys get too much credit nowadays. Anyway, he has a great shot, decent hands, but is slow. Don't mistake this for anything other than what it is; i think he gets too much credit. I could go on with the Red River defensmen but I wont. I guess thats all I've got. I tried to find a forward from the east that was being talked up more than deserved but, I dont think the east has that problem. I could talk about Willert but I havent seem him play yet this season. The only forward given tons of credit is Paul Weisgarber, and its deserved in his case. While I'm on topic, he's played fewer games than most of the state leading scorers and he's fighting his way back up. I'm looking forward to watching him in the WCHA soon:)
  2. QUOTE-JLOOS I guess I just disagree. Weisgarber is a very good player, but I think Willert is the much more likely college player. I do not rate Willert significantly higher on abilities, but the reality is a 5-8 player has to be a lot better than a 6-2 player to play past HS. Some players peak at an early age, which is what I've seen in Weisgarber. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen much growth in his game the past two seasons. Of course he was hurt most of this year, so that assessment may not be fair. Willert is one of those players that appears to be just getting comfortable with his size. I don't know what he was like as a youth player, but he has really impressed me this season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  3. Just to inform all of you who doubt the Fargo South High Bruins, they should be and will be (with the return of Junior standout Paul Weisgarber) the best team in the state of North Dakota. In the previous season the Bruins JV knocked off a previously unbeaten Moorhead JV team with varsity player Jake Krause on the roster. I belive some of the misfortune they have had is because of inexperiance, which will in time, change. Now I am fully aware you cant put your entire season on the shoulders of one kid. However, you can put a lot of it on this kids. Anyways, back to the team. When this Junior class was PeeWee A and Bantam A they handed Minot there lunch and sent them on there way. Red River is a sketchy team, with hot-heads loading their benches they could be in box for a good portion of the game. Their D are slow, and as Paul proved in their first meeting, weak on their feet . I am sure most of you are laughing in your seats as 95% of the D-men on the team are over 6-0 and 200 lbs. but lack skating fundamentals to knock over a Paul Weisgarber or even a Tyler Dalbey for that matter. Central is just weak. Plain and simple, they have weak D, weak forwards, and weak goaltending end of story. Marto isnt god, and I think they lost to North? That says something. Grafton/Park River is a team to be feared. Who knows why, but they are successful. Call it the Campells, call it the goaltender but they're successful and will be the rest of the season if they can keep up to tempo. All in all it looks to be whoever can knock off the Bruins. Red River couldnt do it, Central can't, or North. It's up to GPR or Bismarck High.....
  4. this post is to those of you out there who belive Burgraff skating skills is all that its cracked up to be. well its not. its a joke. sure you can say brehmer improved greatly by his time at burgraff, but i can gaurentee you this, had luke went to a skating specific camp in MN or bismarck ( they usually only hit the capital in ND) he would have been twice the skater that he is now. Burgraff does not focus on one specific area of improvement, i know, i've been there. so when all is said and done, sure the pros may train there, thats because its a system set up for someone of that nature. for a young player coming into the burgraff camp, they are setting themselves up for trouble. a kid with skating troubles wont get the advice he needs to becoming a better skater. they dont know enough, and if they do there too lazy to teach it
