Guessing that UND along with other schools are telling current recruits to hold off on graduating to be safe? Seems like everyone is still very in the dark on the full ramifications of this. its nuts. (are incoming recruits affected, IE like a brock schultz. I think he'd have 3 years of eligibility starting this fall assuming he graduated at age 18) I think grand scheme of things UND isn't too harmed by this but man feel for the CCHA schools that "could" have half of their players lose 2 years of eligibility with the snap of someone's fingers... Who knows though. There's probably a lawsuit being drafted right now that will put this on hold right after it's announced

Blake Fiddler to Denver it sounds like per Schloss's article this morning. With that being the case they have 2 righties incoming now. Really when you look at the Western blue bloods + Michigan State, I'd say outside of Michigan alot of them have pretty relatively full blue lines currently. Think that helps UNDs case as playing time is likely going to have to be spread out no matter where he would go. (for no reason other than vibes I'm eliminating BC and BU from the list of schools that can get Dupont).

There have to be quite a few playing d3 etc from last year though. Seems somewhat feasible to find one this offseason. We’ll see how it plays out

(This likely isn't the case) But there is still a slim chance that the staff could decide to carry the roster as so: 8 D 16F 3 goalies (with your 3rd goalie being a DSA and not counting towards the 26 player cap) Obviously in that case you would still need 1 more forward. Also thinking it through and this is nothing against Schultz, but Connor Davis very well could have been an Ashton Schultz replacement and we just don't know that yet. (The staff has already de-committed 2 of the previous regime's forwards so it's not out of the question they do that with Schultz). Schloss has reported Schultz is coming but again our staff keeps things very close to the vest....

Only so many spots for a team’s goalie prospects. I have no clue what Florida’s situation is but I’d guess that Florida has some prospects that need to season in the AHL so at this point in Cam’s career he’s not exactly a priority over them.

Assuming we land Carels we will almost certainly have 3 players on the Canadian WJC team. Not exactly sure about the other schools but maybe 1/2 other teams in the country can match that? Maybe Michigan and Michigan state and that's it?

I'd agree not very bold. If they don't go through that bad spurt after new years they would have been thought of as a top 5 team going into the tourney

Was 7th in the USHL for U-19 scoring which is really encouraging especially considering it was his first year in the league out of high school. Seems like a guy that is thrilled to be here as well. For as much as it would've been nice to get a Mathis Preston or a Belchetz both guys are coming off of injuries and "decent" years of JR hockey so there's still a risk that they contribute as much as a Cayden Lindstrom did for Michigan State this year (10 points in 31 games). Not exactly sold on the Ruck Twins either (haven't watched them but there have been critiques that they are good JR hockey scorers but people are hesitant with how legit their point totals are.) Seems like a good chunk of the 2026 draft eligible possible commits aren't the obvious slam dunk like a Reschny was last year

I think your NCAA program will be under a watchful eye whenever you get a top prospect. UND did absolutely zero this year to harm Keaton's draft stock and I'd say if you polled NHL scouts etc they'd overwhelmingly agree with that sentiment. Penn State on the other hand. I'd guess there are some questions after this year from NHL team's about sending their prospects there. Pretty fair to say he wasn't challenged by coaching to at least improve in the slightest his off the puck game. If he had at least done that some it would be limiting questions about his status at number 1 (granted he's still likely to go #1)

Mississippi state if I had to guess should be an earlier kick off and not too pricy of a ticket hopefully

Biased because I live here but I'd say Austin is a better city for food and music while you're visiting here compared to say Nashville.

We have Cooper Simpson coming in to add some pretty instant offense as well. Think he’s getting overlooked a little bit. Love Strinden and James but if Simpson’s offense translates to college quickly he’s got more high end offensive ceiling than either of those guys on the wing.

Granted the US program has been down the past couple years so those guys aren’t exactly world beaters IMO until they prove otherwise

Not to mention some of those numbers i've heard sometimes include out of state tuition. So in theory $50,000 of that money shouldn't even be in the final number.

Taking a hockey recruit to a football game as a pitch is why there will always be “Michigan kids” and “North Dakota” kids for example Good luck trying to sell your hockey program like that to a kid from small town Canada that lives and breathes hockey (and granted that pitch does work for Michigan just only for their style of player). Out of context though, showing a recruit that your sport is 3rd/4th fiddle on campus as a selling point is pretty funny.

With the new expanded player pool I think you’ll have to entertain having at least 1-2 1st round picks on your team at a minimum. (Lin who Denver is bringing in next year will be a 1st round pick) You at least need a mix of high end skill. But ideally you vet those 1st round picks you’re trying to recruit to make sure they’re going to have an all in attitude and are going to buy in to the team. Otherwise you get a team with Cole Eiserman and as we found out Boisvert who I would say are prime examples of 1st round players that you were going to have a hard time ever getting to buy in to your team culture while they’re on campus for 2 years. Here’s a take - Denver this year will be the exception. I think say 9/10 future title winners will have a 1st round pick on the roster.

For what it's worth I think they are trying to develop that area finally around the united center in Chicago. So in the next 5-10 years it should be a better setup surrounding the arena.

Our staff seems to keep things close to the vest? So hearing "nothing" makes me think Bryn and Co are lurking in the shadows.
