With the new expanded player pool I think you’ll have to entertain having at least 1-2 1st round picks on your team at a minimum. (Lin who Denver is bringing in next year will be a 1st round pick) You at least need a mix of high end skill. But ideally you vet those 1st round picks you’re trying to recruit to make sure they’re going to have an all in attitude and are going to buy in to the team. Otherwise you get a team with Cole Eiserman and as we found out Boisvert who I would say are prime examples of 1st round players that you were going to have a hard time ever getting to buy in to your team culture while they’re on campus for 2 years. Here’s a take - Denver this year will be the exception. I think say 9/10 future title winners will have a 1st round pick on the roster.

For what it's worth I think they are trying to develop that area finally around the united center in Chicago. So in the next 5-10 years it should be a better setup surrounding the arena.

Our staff seems to keep things close to the vest? So hearing "nothing" makes me think Bryn and Co are lurking in the shadows.

Seattle would be sneaky fun IMO Really walkable city. You can stay downtown and walk anywhere for the whole weekend more or less. Not to mention if you're into the outdoors you can use Friday as a day dedicated for hiking.
-
Them not wanting to host it would check out with why they haven't hosted yet. Seems like an obvious no brainer.

Solid depth piece for when injuries may pop up. Might as well enjoy the last 2 years of your college career to the max even if your playing time is limited. Seems like that wasn’t exactly happening at ASU based on the transfer portal activity today.

Welp, have an incentive to make it to a Texas stars playoff game now. -
I expect Emery, Mackenzie, and Laurilla all to be very dependable in their own zone. (they'll all be 20 years old next year which helps offset the "young" narrative IMO). Liked Strathman but at the end of the day if you held a gun to my head I'd take Laurilla over him by a hair. Assuming we add Carels he's also known for being defense first before offense as well. Then add in another year of growth from KV and look out.

Well we've got 1 opening at left D and 1 opening at right D. And I don't think UND is in any rush to fill those holes. Will likely be waiting out Everett's season along with Prince George to try and land both Carels + Dupont. If they miss then you add an older depth player as needed from the portal. Schloss seemed to hint that UND will attempt to try and land Dupont (he seems to have a way different attitude about this recruitment compared to McKenna's) If we landed Verhoeff over Michigan there's no reason we can't land Dupont over them.

The other school that he follows on insta (BU) seems to be pretty full as well. They’d have to push someone out to make room I feel.

Nesbitt to Michigan makes me think the possibility of Belchetz to UND is ever so slightly more a possibility now…

The big theme with Denver compared to the other blue bloods seems to be more coaching stability which obviously helps. All the other blue bloods have had to fire a head coach / transition to a new coach that has their work cut out for them to match their predecessor (looking at you Greg Brown) Denver may have sort of fired Gwoz?, but then went to Montgomery with Carle on staff then had a smooth quick transition to Carle. Obviously only in year 1 and maybe a prisoner of this year but feel as good about our renewed staff being able to take out Denver as any of the other blue bloods.

For what’s its worth it felt like BC would win more titles if we time traveled back to 2012 after they won their 3rd in 6 years. (However that’s the last time they won a title)

Not sure it’s out there what our assistants make but wondering if we are spreading the wealth around a little bit more? Wouldn’t shock me if that was the case. Would be on brand for Dane imo. Team guy.

Gona say this while we can but BU would’ve been a nice series to heal up on this year with how soft those guys played -
Potter “technically” told some press back when he got hurt that he was returning to ASU. Schloss mentioning his name in his article makes me think otherwise. I’d guess we will see him in the portal. Only thing with him is not sure how strong he is in the faceoff dot

Mackenzie outside of that 1 really egregious semi final game turnover at the world juniors was I thought Canada’s most dependable D man. Love the poise, compete, and direct nature he plays with. -

Along with Boston being an awesome city to visit. Boston area visit every 3/4 years would be really nice to see. There’s plenty of teams to rotate through to make it happen -

Yikes forgot how terrible this is. At least there’s an excuse to really go all in on getting gophers tickets in Minny next year. We’ll never know but curious if there were some internal disagreements about some of these schedule deals between Brad and Jax -

If you made me guess I’d think Jax and staff will be tweaking how we schedule for the next 5 years + so on. Quite a few of these current schedule deals are still on going I think for the next 2/3 years but after that period we’ll get to see the new series that Jax and Co have signed up on their terms -
UND seems to want to keep it close to the vest with how much their budget is which I’d agree is the right strategy. With that being the case I’d venture to guess the Engelstad family is definitely providing some sort of support but doing it a little more discretely.
-
Agreed with above logic - would like to see them do that for events + add "protected" non-conference rivalry 2 game series as exempt. (IE - UND vs Gophers, Denver vs BC, UND vs BU)
-
Penn State's extremely non-structured playstyle + terrible non-conference schedule has been fairly criticized so far throughout this year. (Much more than it ever was in the past due to the spotlight being on them).
-
For anyone looking for tix or knows someone looking, I have a pair in the upper bowl for the semi's + the championship. (feel free to DM me) Was lucky enough to upgrade seats so more or less selling these for just a smidge above face value to cover the "extra" I paid for the new seats in he lower bowl. So not trying to make a profit. (section 101, Row K)

He's a pretty solid skater for his size from what I recall watching highlights at the Hlinka Gretzky this past fall. Probably a little more speed compared to a Cade Littler as a current player comp (and all things considered Cade is a solid skater IMO)
