Woof. Let's hope Jackson loads up in the portal and/or has a few more CHLers lined up once the junior season is over.
-
Losing Boisvert would really suck, would probably make 2025-26 another retooling bubble to middle of the pack Pairwise team.
-
Is Sandelin going to give the same interview with generally the same displeasure about NIL and transfer portal? Seems like a curmudgeon. Idk if he's just getting old and losing energy, but if I were him, I'd recruit the hell out of the portal. Recruit the hell out of the CHL & make Minnesota Duluth a destination for Western Canadians and Ontarians. But I'm guessing he won't be doing that.
-
Trevor Hoskin (Niagara, 2024 Calgary 4th rounder) in the portal. Hoskin leaving Niagara after one year screams "I'm already too good for this program and conference, lots of interest (potentially a little $) at big time programs".
-
Not brothers. Probably cousins of some sort
-
Agreed. Perron is slightly more talented than Shaugabay but Shaugabay gets more positive results at the NCAA level.
-
Shaugabay seams plausible. Warroad kid, did he grow up a UND fan? Assume he would have, but I know he committed to UMD pretty early (Warroad coach being a UMD guy helps as well). I wouldn't be surprised to see Komzak hit the portal tbh.
-
Hope not but that makes a lot of sense. Could see Wisconsin going after him, he fits the Hastings mold.
-
Karsen Dorwart of Michigan State signed with the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday.
-
Colin Ralph (St Cloud State, 2024 St Louis Blues 2nd rounder) in the portal.
-
I always thought James would stay because he needs one more year before entering pro, especially with Grand Rapids being deep enough where Detroit might not offer him an ELC this year.
-
So we'll revisit this in 365 days and make our assessment of how dumb/smart that was

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Livanavage back for 2025-26! -
Gotta leverage the connection with James Patrick (Victoria Royals head coach) to get some high end Dub guys. Cole Reschny is the likely 2025 1st rounder on the Royals I'd really want. Hopefully Dane has Patrick's number.
-
Hopefully Simpson knows how to recruit, especially the elite top end guys. He's Canadian, his dad is one of the most recognizable hockey color commentators in North America and is connected to most notable hockey people in Canada. Use these connections to land some elite CHLers. Or he gets axed and we get a whole new staff of assistants.
-
Kinda meh until we get in season sample size on how this goes. Time for Dane to retain the current roster as much as possible and hit some recruiting home runs in recruiting/portal this offseason.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

If Perron is gone (like rumors are indicating), you hope Zellers more than replaces that production and then they get a scorer out of the portal or a last minute higher end CHL add. -
Wondering if the coaching change will make high end CHLers a bit more hesitant to go to UND for the next year or two. Also, Carter Bear might not be fully healthy for much of if not all of 2025-26 with the partial Achilles tear.
-
Interesting. Coaches never seemed to use him properly. If true, wonder if he'll take off under Naurato or not. Whitelaw didn't but that's partially a product of Michigan being mediocre af.
-
Wonder where Western Michigan would have been in the Pairwise with just two adequate goalies instead of Slukynsky and Rowe
-
Wood was a nice get for Minnesota despite his 2nd half of the season being underwhelming. Although I think he approached Motzko more than anything, he wanted to go there since his dad was a Gophers women's assistant back in the day. Collin Graf was a nice get for Quinnipiac out of Union back in 2022.

Crazy how 2 great NCAA goaltenders saw their draft stock fall because they played for the bleepshow that is the Omaha Lancers. Hrabal and Yegorov are damn good, interested to see how they do in the years to come at UMass & BU respectively and then for Utah and New Jersey.

You talk to this player at a bar, restaurant, or elsewhere?

Apparently they didn't want Nehring either
