I am just curious what ever happened to the old Sioux Sports header that had the picture of an Indian chief I believe and possibly a Tee-Pee. I know it has been gone for a while, I am just curious. I really liked the look of it.

I park in the Memorial parking lot daily, and some days, depending upon the time, it can take quite a while just to try to pull out onto university ave. Now add an additional couple of hundred vehicles and we are looking at some major traffic jams.

Guys, can we try to stick to the topic? Let's take all of the bickering about players to another thread.

Now I am really in the mood for a classic Bison/Sioux football game!!!! I hope that they get the UND/NDSU rivalry going again real soon!!!

That last part was a joke. My point is that Grand Forks (or should I call it the Grand Cities, that would get some Fargonians going) and Fargo are extremely similar in size and lifestyle when compared to the rest of the country. Just because Fargo is slightly larger than GF doesn't mean it is some giant cultural center compared to GF. I'm not saying that Grand Forks is better than Fargo, it would just be nice if people from Fargo would get over the idea that Fargo is so amazing and GF is it's trash dump. I grew up in a town of about 150 people. Does that mean that a town of 300 people is a metropolitan city since it is almost three times as big?

Greater phoenix: 3.4 Million Denver Metro: 2.4 Million Metro Nashville: 1.23 Million Now do they seem a LITTLE bit more comparable? Especially when you are comparing cultural areas such as attractions, museums, shopping, dining and nightlife. And if you want to talk about all of the suburbs of Fargo you better add Thompson, Emerado, the Air Force Base, Crookston and Winnipeg to Grand Forks population numbers!

Woops, missed that thread. I apparently joined the group a week or two after that thread was being discussed. I would have posted the article in there if I had seen it.

I kind of like the idea. It would fit in nicely on the west side of town near the Alerus. It would add to GF's vision of adding more entertainment options as far as making GF more of a destination city. It would also add jobs, many for younger college aged people: bar tenders, waitresses, dealers. As far as cutting into profits of local charitable organizations, I am sure something could be worked out. For the most part, local residents will continue to gamble at their usual neighborhood bars while out for a few drinks with friends. The article mentions allowing local gaming to have the same games, maximums, and rules as the casino. Maybe they could even work out something such as having a section/room in the casino where the local charitable organizations could run their own tables etc. Or possibly profit sharing from certain gaming, such as split profits from just the blackjack tables. Just a few ideas. what does everybody else think about the idea.

There has been talk for a little while about the Turtle Mountain Tribe building a casino in G.F. Last night they started a series of informational meetings they plan on holding over the next few months. Just thought I would throw the article out there and see what everyone else thought. Turtle Mountain Casino in GF

Just thought some of you might like to read this. It is about the committee that will be recommending candidates to Kupchella for the A.D. position. Kupchella names athletic director search committee

Does anyone know what our attendance numbers have been so far this year? I know the season started off pretty low but this last weekend we almost cracked 5,000.

Just imagine if we had 4,8++ people packed into the Betty. That would be an amazing atmosphere!!!!! Talk about a home court advantage.

I encourage everyone to check it out and sign up on the message board. I am looking forward to some great discussions over there.

This stadium project does sound strangly familiar.

I am one sioux fan who does believe that the 'SUs can make it. They just need time to make the move and grow. Although it is extremely unlikely every team of theirs will be competative every single year, they will all have their good seasons. Just give them time.

The Tech/Minn game tonight was a great game to watch. I was cheering at the top of my lungs.

They definatley did look pretty horrible.

UND just beat Minnesota State by a score of 66-60
-
It just came online a little while ago. Still pretty new, not many people have heard of it yet.
-
With 227 people having voted so far it is now: 198 votes (87%) Betty 29 votes (13%) Ralph I hope that the people at UND have seen this poll.
-
Watching the game I was impressed. There were alot of Minnesota State fans. It was kind of cool listening to their school song every time they scored and their NEW logo loooked pretty cool at center ice. For the money and the advertising they got across the state, I think it was definately worth the money, even if they didn't win.

If I am not mistaken I heard something like $160,000. I'm not positive, I could be completely off base.

The reason I posted the article is that I found it interesting that their students concerns/complaints about their hockey arena are exactly the same as UND students have: "They cited the rising season ticket prices, the student section being split into two separate groups, more expensive seats blocking the view of students and the band being moved away as reasons they were upset." I agree that some of the swearing and some of the more offensive cheers could be stopped as long as the students are actually allowed to still continue to cheer.
-
I didn't know that the NCAA was in charge of the REA continually shrinking the student section, making the ticket process as annoying as possible, and sticking the band up in the boonies away from the rest of the students! j/k I know what you are saying.
