Tell me you have 0 clue what you’re talking about without telling me. The last 4 years that Mason has been at Jamestown the GPAC has been one of, if not the overall best conference in the NAIA. That isn’t debatable. Talk to anyone that has any clue about NAIA basketball. UND would not schedule Jamestown because I quote “We can’t be a D1 team playing an NAIA school without the better players on the floor”. This is just one example. Look at how many D1 team’s schedule any GPAC teams. It doesn’t happen because they can’t afford to lose to an NAIA school. Hence the GPAC is a good conference. This is the last time commenting on this subject with you as you have 0 clue what you are talking about. I’m also disappointed in @ZDosch and his uneducated comment for someone that is supposed to be in the know when it comes to college basketball.

That conference is the best overall conference in the NAIA.. teams in that conference consistently beat D2 teams.. many D1 teams won't schedule teams in the GPAC for their non-D1 games... To say that it is an awful conference is an insanely bad take

This!! People think it's easy to ask a player to all of a sudden go from a role player to "the guy" where you are the #1 priority of every single scout from every opposing team. They do nothing but watch film as a team for multiple days on how to stop their 1 or 2 guys. For Nelson and Skunberg to make those jumps from role players to the 1 and 2 guys is not an easy thing. Richman did a great job coaching them this year and letting me play through mistakes at the beginning of the year. That's what great coaches do!

Being close enough for his parents and brothers to come to every one of his games is important for him. I would be very surprised if he left ND. Possibly SD, MN, or MT but I would be surprised.

I thought the other day that SD confirmed that he isn't on the team. I can't remember which thread it was in to go find it though.

Getting Mason to UND will be a difficult task but one that UND needs to try get done. UND isn't far from home for him but NDSU is closer. NDSU also has a good buddy of his on the team in Skunberg. NDSU is a better team and he would fit right into the current role that Grant Nelson has on the team. Would be a pretty seamless transition fit wise. I'll do my best in trying to get Mason to UND but it is going to be a tall task!

There is nothing to get. Either you are a good defender or you are not. Either you can stop the opposing player from scoring or you can't. That shows up in the numbers. Our "best defender" can't stop an opposing player very well. That is my whole point. People like SD claiming that Danielson is a great defender are just flat out wrong. Danielson is a GREAT team defender. He is not a 'put him on the other teams best player' defender. But Sather did that and that was a huge part to why our defense was so bad all year.

And also bottom 38% in the nation compared to top 55% in the nation...... we want to look at how many total minutes each player played as well?? I think one had a whole lot more opportunities to prove how good of a defender he was than the other... It is crazy the excuses that come out when the numbers come back not looking like you thought they would. Numbers don't lie my man.

Let us compare the senior to the true freshman on defense. This season Danielson was an "Average" defender giving up .894 PPP and ranking in the bottom 38% of all of D1 basketball. P&R Ball Handler Defender - Below average Isolation Defender - Below Average Off Screen - Below Average Post Up - Very Good Handoffs - Average This season Brooks as a true freshman was a "Good" defender giving up .84 PPP and ranking in the top 55% of all of D1 basketball P&R Ball Handler Defender - Very Good Isolation Defender - Good Off Screen - Good Post Up - Average Handoffs - Below Average Numbers don't lie fellas.

Exactly. And Brady gets praised for it and everyone wants him to come back! But now that we have it in Brooks we write him off because he didn't shoot 40% from three as a true freshman. Brooks is more athletic, a better defender, better offensively, better size, strength. True D1 Player. Make it make sense....

Brooks has a very high ceiling. Sure it may not be as high as Omot or Eaglestaff but he can develop into a good player. Look at how he played at the end of the season compared to the beginning. He took big steps and played really well off the bench. He will only get better with time. He can develop a jump shot in the offseason with the right coaching and help.

I will throw this out there since some people like to have their thoughts and opinions pretty twisted when it comes to what my thoughts are on the coach. If Sather gets a 2 year extension this off-season, or they let him coach with 1 year left on his contract, I really don't have an issue with it, IF (a big IF) he can keep Omot, Eaglestaff, and Brooks. If any of those 3 leave then it is clearly a trend that he cannot keep good young talent and I think some changes need to be made. But if those 3 stay then I have no problem with keeping Sather and letting him try build off of the second half of this season going into next year. He made good changes and adjustments in the second half of the season that I have given him credit for. The adjustments had us playing significantly better basketball down the stretch. Continue to make adjustments over the summer, get some players from the transfer portal, and build off of this past year.

Here are a couple key things that need to be addressed for next season if UND wants to be competitive in the Summit next year. (In no particular order, assuming we keep our current main players) Need to get a legit 5 man. Someone that can protect the paint/rim. Would prefer a long, lob catcher/shot blocker (I know that is hard to get at this level but has to be a transfer out there that can get the job done. Doesn't have to be super skilled.) If we can't get a player like that, get Mason Walters. Need to find another PG. Whether that be a solid backup or someone to compete with Trent for the starting spot. We need another PG that can play on the roster. New motion offense. The current motion offense is bad to say the least. No flow, bad spacing, setting double pin downs for guys like Danielson or Trent, doesn't allow the type of players we have on the roster to be very effective at what they do best. Gets minimal good looks. Need a new motion offense. 0 high hedging next year. There is a reason high hedging is becoming extinct in high level basketball. Get rid of it. Some of the main areas that need to be addressed looking forward to next season in my opinion. Hoping for a smooth off-season!!

Bill Chaves has spoken everyone! Sather isn't going anywhere! Lifetime contract! In all seriousness though, I highly doubt they let him go this offseason. Although, him crying in the postgame presser asking to get a chance to coach them again next year was a little odd. Who knows what will happen!
