  1. I'm not hitting the panic button, but we currently don't have that pure shooter like Norman to really space the floor and help open up driving lanes. All of our current guards, except maybe Treysen, are drivers first before shooters Treysen - he is a scorer that can shoot, he's going to be up and down because of the type of shots he shoots. Not a shooter like Norman was Omot - should be able to improve on his 30% he shot last year but again is a scorer that can shoot it a bit. Not a shooter like Norman Trent, Brooks, Danielson, King, Mayar - All drivers first. None are shooters. TT shooting like he did last year does help create some space and driving lanes off the pick & pop. Hoping we use one of the 2 remaining scholarships to get someone that can really shoot the ball to help space the floor!
  2. Bingo! They have done a great job recruiting so far. A ton of length and athleticism on next years team! Really hoping shooting doesn't hold us back though. We don't have a pure shooter anymore like Norman was. I really think we're going to miss having him.
  3. Agree! Good get for a walk-on spot. I can only imagine the amount of buckets that Hong and Kraft will get in practice. Extremely important guys to have in practice and on scout teams. Makes the guys that play better!
  4. I’d bet my retirement on Hong! Don’t think I saw him miss once last year
  5. Agree. I like the long term upside of King but the lack of jumpshot could be concerning. Losing Norman this year is going to have a bigger impact on the team next year than many realize
  6. *HoopsFan03 and his 3 burner accounts... Fixed it for you
  7. Thank you for giving us a breakdown of this thread! We appreciate your honesty! It is a sad day to see you go. We wish you the best! *Insert a similar message from my 3 other burner accounts*
  8. If that is what it takes to get a 6'10" McDonald's All-American that played in the Pac 12 to UND, then yes.... I don't think you would see many fans complaining about him coming to UND despite his 28% FG percentage he shot in the extremally limited opportunities he had at Washington as a Freshman/Sophomore
  9. UND should go after him. Tell him he gets as many minutes and shots per game as he wants.
  10. Makes sense! Any other visits planned other than Eli King?
  11. Hoping for some good news as well! Has anyone taken their visit here yet? Or just guys planning to come on a visit here?
  12. While I love the idea of having BJ play the 3, his actual position, we need a big guy bad! Doesn't have to be a bruiser. Somebody with some length that can block shots or alter shots at the rim. Teams had 0 issues getting to the rim and scoring at the rim as they didn't have to worry about getting their shot blocked. That is a huge reason why we had a bottom 3% rated defense in the nation... that needs to be addressed ASAP
  13. Interesting! Good to know! Thanks!
  14. I'm not sure how likely it would be that Eli King would actually come to UND. He was a 4 star recruit out of high school with offers and interest from plenty of P6 schools like: Iowa, Marquette, Stanford, Minnesota. I find it hard to believe that all those schools and others would give up on a 4 star recruit after one year. Who knows though!!
  15. Agree. Going to Wichita State would be a downgrade for him. Lower in rankings than ORU. Barely above .500 this year. He will go someplace better.
  16. 3.1 Assist to turnover ratio as well! Looks legit!
  17. Sorry if what I was saying came across wrong. I'm not saying the team will for sure be worse now that he is coming back. I was just trying to bring up the point that I've seen it before where a player comes back for a Covid year and then it stunts the growth of the team but especially the growth of younger players that are looking to take that next step and step into bigger roles. I would have liked to see Eaglestaff and Brooks take all the minutes Brady played last year and both step into bigger roles and continue to develop. I highly doubt Sather plays Brady any less or in any less of a role. That could hinder the growth of younger players. That's all I was trying to say.
  18. Is this even true?? He wasn't picked as a captain this past season. I'm assuming the players vote for captains and UND's captains this year were Jalun Trent and Caleb Nero...... that speaks volumes
  19. I would say he got more playing time than he deserved last season. Me and others have always said he is a 10 minutes per game type of player. A spark plug off the bench. Not a 30+ minute per game starter. If he plays the same minutes he did last year that isn't good for the growth of the program and their most talented players. He is clearly Sather's favorite player and Sather will put his job in Brady's hands for another year. There is no debating that. I hope it works out for the programs sake!
  20. Possibly. Would be smart in my opinion! I've seen this exact same scenario first hand and it really can hurt the growth of young guys ready to take on that bigger role.
  21. I know this is going to be a take not liked by many, but I don't like Danielson coming back for a 5th year. I think this could be a case scenario where a guy coming back for a 5th year could actually harm the growth of the team and especially the growth of the talented young guys that we have. Danielson returning is taking up 30+ minutes a game that should be going to guys like Eaglestaff, Brooks, and Omot to continue to grow and develop. He had a great year last year, I think that is his ceiling and I don't see him getting exponentially better. It's time to move on and allow our young guys to get those minutes and continue to grow and take on bigger roles. If Danielson is wanted for his leadership, then ask him to stay another year as a graduate assistant and lead that way. I know it would be a tough decision for Sather to make but sometimes you have to make those tough decisions as a coach in order for your team to grow and take that next step.
  22. Not sure we need to bring personal life into this. Someone not being happy with the way their favorite sports team/program is at or heading does not mean there is something missing in their personal life. Such odd questions and accusations to make from grown adults...
  23. I know Bentiu is still around in Grand Forks as well. Could probably have a good chance to get him if we made a push for him
  24. I can hear that chant in my head right now! Wish Hong could have gone in!
  25. From what I have seen McAndrew is basically already a lock for Creighton. I do agree with you though, it would be wise to at least reach out and say that if things don't work out at Creighton (or whatever school he does go to) that you would love to have him. It doesn't hurt to put that out there and build that relationship a bit.
