  1. I mean to be fair we have seen it all season. Nero hurts the team more than he helps the majority of the time. It’s not hard to see in all the other games.
  2. 34-22 Portland. Another extended offensive lull
  3. A run by Portland with Nero in at PG. Down 7 now. Happens every game when he subs in at PG
  4. ESPN+ still “experiencing technical difficulties”
  5. Anyone else’s stream loading for them on ESPN+??
  6. Great writeup! I question if UND can score enough points in this game to keep up with Portland's offense. However, this should be a good game and I hope we see our offense get its stride back after the 44 point performance on Wednesday!
  7. They had 18 second chance points in the game. That is a big #. (And yes I understand that they had the significant size and athletic advantage, just pointing out that the game could have been a lot more interesting if we were able to keep that # lower.)
  8. Giving up so many offensive rebounds in the first half killed us as well. Two of them I can remember turned into kick out wide open 3's for Grill that he drained. If we don't give up as many O-boards I think we could have been up 6+ at the half. Who knows how the game turns out if that were the case.
  9. We weren't going to win that game. However, our inbounds plays are atrocious. The goal of the team inbounding is to try set up a play to get an easy bucket at the hoop or an open shot. We get neither of those.
  10. Agree completely. 1. Trent doesn't even necessarily need to shoot the 3, although it would help, since he has Norman, Omot, Levias, and TT that all can be a threat from 3 and to score the ball. But he does need to look to get his own more. Scoring at the rim, a floater once he gets in the paint. Just something to keep the defense honest. The offense flows so much better when he is running the point and his defense is great. 2. TT has been much improved this year and that is good to see. I like his ability to pop and shoot the 3 ball. Opens up so many things for other guys to drive and cut to the hoop. Especially with Levias at the 4 I love how open the spacing is. A lot different compared to last year. Brian still doesn't move right, but it is a lot better than the start of the year. I hope he continues to gain confidence on the offensive side of the ball. When he is patient and doesn't rush he actually has some good moves in the post. Just needs to keep developing that as the year moves on. I like those 2 in at the five over Sueker in my opinion. 3. I like the starters we currently have. It is a smaller lineup so may have trouble with teams with size but I think it gives UND the best chance to win games. Bench should be Brian, Brooks, Eaglestaff, and Danielson in my opinion. It's tough because Brian, Brooks, and Danielson don't bring a whole lot of offense off the bench so the only guy to do that would be Eaglestaff. If only Brooks was more aggressive on offense because his defense is right up there with Trent.
  11. Stinks that it ended up turning into a 20 point game but overall was a good game and learning experience! Played with the #23 team for a half. Turnovers caught up to them in the second half but you knew that would happen playing a tough defense like this. This game will help a lot as the season moves forward and we play any other teams that love to play pressure defense.
  12. This is a public forum. I’m here to talk UND sports and basketball. If you don’t want to see my views/opinions then get off the forum or don’t read them. Have a great night watching the rest of the game
  13. I guess we can’t acknowledge the clear issues a coach has. I’m pretty sure I have the background to be able to see these issues and point them out. You chill and enjoy my very valid views.
  14. When you don’t have a legit backup PG you have to be able to live with some turnovers every now and then. You don’t want anyone playing passive let alone your PG but that is what Sather is creating in Trent. He knows if he makes a mistake he’s getting taken out so he plays passive and it just leads to more mistakes.
  15. Trent has a turnover and immediately gets pulled and gets a 2 minute “coaching session” on the sideline. How about we let our captain starting PG play a little bit and play free?? Makes zero sense.
  16. I understand if you have 1 or 2 guards that don’t really shoot it but we have WAY too many of them that play. Trent, Brooks, Danielson, Grant, Omot doesn’t shoot the 3 great. Too many non-shooters when todays basketball is all about shooting the 3.
  17. Agree. Can’t have two absolute non-shooters out there at the 1 & 2
  18. Trent for 32+ a game and then heck Levias can play point better than Nero.
  19. Here’s another offensive lull. Guess who’s at PG?? Nero.. I understand their defense is legit but just watch how the offense flows when Trent is in compared to Nero. Nero is not a PG
  20. I think our defense should be alright in this game. Iowa States guard play is good and a large part why they are ranked 23rd now. We have solid guard defenders especially in Trent and Brooks if he is back. The biggest thing for this game will be our offense. Can we score the ball at all against their very physical, harassing defense?? That will be the big challenge!
  21. Sueker is listed as a fifth year so I would assume he is done after this year. Danielson and Nero are both listed as seniors but would still have one year of eligibility left because of the Covid year. I would think/hope both of those two are done after this year.
  22. I would even say at this point that Levias can be/is a better scorer than Sueker. The ability to shoot helps Levias. Definitely not a bad thing for the team that Sueker isn't playing anymore and we get to see Levias more. But man was I dead wrong when I said after the first exhibition that Sueker would be the best player on the team this year. I thought coming off the injury and this being his final year that he would play with some passion/leave it all on the floor type of mentality. He looked good that first half of the first exhibition when he scored 20 or 22, whatever it ended up being. But man did he take a turn for the worse after that. Really hasn't looked similar since then.
  23. Really good weekend for UND basketball! 2 fun games to be at! Nero has played good the last two games in the scoring column. He tends to overdribble and stagnate the offense though. With Trent looking to be more aggressive they need to loosen the leash more and let him play free. The offense flows better when he's the PG. Moves the ball, makes good reads in the pick & roll, plays TOUGH defense. They have a tough decision on what to do when Brooks comes back. The team seems to be rolling and gelling together. I would assume he would come off the bench and take a combination of Norman and Danielson's minutes?? I think we start to see Sueker not play at all. Levias fits the team better and is playing better. Not sure if school is too much/too much stress but he has not looked like himself at all. Overall, the team is playing really well going into two tough road games against Iowa State and Portland!
