I like the sweep prediction but do you really see us getting 5 goals against them in one night? I think we maybe get that many the whole weekend.
-
This is one of those times where Berry is darned if he does and darned if he doesn’t. The 5x5 offense was absent and the lines had no chemistry rolling. Plus lines were changing due to one injury after the next. So they needed to change in a hurry. Safe to say this coming weekend we will see a lot of the same lines as Saturday unless Jammer is back in the mix. The James-Boisvert-Strinden line will stay the same for sure because that was a line that was generating. We’ve had a lot of talk about Omac getting rolling which obviously needs to happen . But the person we badly need to get off the milk carton is Wilkie. Because if he starts to get some to drop then it seems like his line with Swanson and Perron will pop. Swanson is still struggling to make plays at this level so if he can start finding lanes to give Wilkie and Perron the chance to showcase their shooting then maybe we can finally get some 5x5 consistency.

No one is disputing that these games don’t matter. Every game matters all year long, maybe even more with non conference obviously. What some people are saying is that there haven’t been enough games played throughout the country for the pairwise rankings to be accurate yet. They are too volatile because more games need to be played amongst all teams and conferences. Give it about 3-4 more weeks and then it’ll be a more appropriate prediction.

The games the entire season matter, but looking right now isn’t as important because there still need to be a few more weekends if hockey for relevance

The D zone coverage notably better last night than Friday. RMU got tons of great looks Friday whereas they only got a few last night. Major improvement. Just really dry offense
-
I have a feeling Jammer will still be on the bench as an extra voice to keep the guys jacked up. Hoping Monty and Littler still get some reps but I’m Guessing Andrew won’t get much since he’s gotten penalties the last 2 games with his limited ice time. Not a great way to get more ice time haha

Being a center is more than just faceoffs and Omac is better at center than wing. But he really isn’t great at faceoffs so I was blown away that they had him take the opening faceoff in OT (and of course he lost the draw). Wtf? Have schmaltz or Wilkie take it and then just trade guys out. Plus having Swanson on the penalty kill? The second he stepped out on the ice during the PK I was confused and then less than 20 secs later we allow a goal while he’s out there. and FFS break up the 7-15-21 line. They keep trying to make it work and it’s going nowhere. When they finally had 26 and 21 on a line together things started happening. I’m not a great hockey mind and I don’t get too low on the staff like a lot of people do but there were decisions made tonight that were mind-blowing.

I was thinking the same thing. We have been unimpressive defensively lately (obviously injuries are killing us there) so I have a feeling we will see 2 high-scoring games with night one being like 4-3 OT in our favor. Then 5-3 the next night. Take the over. Feeling a sweep but it’s going to be ugly.

Didn't we outshoot them like 89-30 that weekend? That was the season where we couldn't score goals to save our lives no matter how badly we outplayed a team. It was like a season's worth of the 2011 Frozen Four against Michigan (sorry to bring up that tragic event)

Driscoll was easily our best portal goalie, I'd take him again in a heartbeat. Other than that it seems like the others underachieved, especially with how good Ludvig was at Miami compared to his season last year. I wouldn't mind seeing us grab a 20-year old from the CHL to compete with Hobie next year so Heil can have another year to cook. I'm betting Hobie gets the start this coming Friday; Not because TJ was awful but because it's a weaker opponent and you know they want him to get more games. -
As frustrating as things have been so far, I really think this team is going to reach another level. This feels like a Hak-type season in that we stumble in the first half and have a really good second half if we can get healthy. Now does Hak-like mean that we get to the frozen 4? Probably not because one line or group of players is taking the reins offensively but I think this team makes the tourney and doesn’t waste the Fargo regional again.

Yeah I’d love to see him start firing away more and even if he hits the goalie, let our boys around dig deep and clean up the rebounds. We played a lot of “one too many passes” last night when we had chances to shoot low at a pad and create some chaos. -
That’s a huge win. Also MN’s first loss in regulation. And that OT loss they outshot Omaha like 52-16 and got hot goalie’d. Helps us that bemidji snagged one so hopefully we can at least get a win and tie against the beavs Just looked at the box score for MN and bemidji and MN got hot goalie’d tonight, too. I feel so bad for them….

We made Cornell look like a frozen 4 team. Now they have gone 1-1-2 since we played them in a span I figured they’d go 4-0

Every game matters no matter what time of the season. But looking at the pairwise right now is insane because the amount of data available makes it too volatile. Give it another 3-4 weeks and then start looking. Need more games from the Ivies and a few more conference games to have decent information. -

That Boisvert line has some serious reach. Shortest guy is 6’2” -

Bubs finally started reading the forum and agreed to put Omac at center. Stick tap to @Oxbow6 for emailing the coach to get the job done. -

Several of the lines didn’t change for a few games in a row and once berg was out we had no choice but to shuffle the deck. Especially when Andrew is in, he can’t just slide onto a line where berg was. It’s a lot tougher than saying “keep the lines together” when you lose your top center since one of your next best options at center happens to be the wing on a different line (although it seems like Omac should be the one sliding to center). Therefore you have to change 3-4 lines. -

Even Littler with 8 and 27 was a good trio in Duluth with good size. But I 100% agree that we need a line to load up some offensive lines. They may not be as defensively reliable as a line but we haven’t been defensively reliable half the games anyway so we might as well put a few more pucks in the net haha -

Did you see what led to that “softie”? We allowed an even strength cross ice pass down through the slot that they one-timed. Goalie had to go post to post and still got a good piece of it but he was badly hung out to dry. That’s on the D and forwards in our zone blowing coverage and having poor positioning. -

I’m about 90% certain that guy is a troll pretending to be a former UND athlete. It’s a ruse. -

I don’t think it was a passengers thing so much as chemistry issue and lacking the ability to work together as a unit. Can’t believe the score wasn’t worse than it ended up being because we gave DU a lot of good looks. -

The empty net goal doesn’t change the outcome but seriously just hold the puck for the last 10 seconds instead of passing it right to them for a free goal. Wow -
Robert morris, Cornell, and BU all losing tonight doesn’t help us at all. But if we can’t help ourselves I suppose it doesn’t matter much haha

I’m sorry everyone but if you think that TJ is tonight’s problem you haven’t been watching. We are having one defensive breakdown after another and have given DU close to 10 grade A chances. It’s unbelievable we are only down by 2 with how badly we are getting worked over. We could have Mbereko in net and would still be getting beaten right now
