  1. Naturally the 2nd game will tell a lot about the team. You know the Ag School boys will want to throttle UND like no other team will. I do not expect a W, but do expect a better game than Fargo fans think.

Before a few of you say I don't have high expectations, save it, just being realistic.

If that''s a problem,  you're in a world of hurt when you play at EWU.

    Yep.

I haven't watched enough MVC. Lots of mobile QBs?

I am beating a dead horse, but add  ONE frickin' offensive TD in each game last fall and we finish 9-2(NAU would have been far different game, going in 9-1) and are a top seed in the playoff and who knows how far that team goes.

Defense was ranked 26th in FCS.  How high if it not out on the field the entire second half of games later in the season.

I appreciate your comments. I respond only to note that the D has one failing over the past couple of years- stopping the mobile QB.

How many times did they fail to stop a team on 3rd down as a QB ran away from our D? This must improve!

Sorts related, any prospects in the Manitoba/Saskatchewan area?

Love that pipeline and I think we have a good edge over a lot of schools in that region. The talent may not be as wide, but UND should always be on their radar.

We lost a Canadian kid, Leif Magnusson to SD or SDU. I thought he looked good.

Well, just win then; that is their job.

Look at the 2019 schedule as a golden opportunity and not an ovewhelming challenge.

Standards. Expectations. Lead the men, Bubba.

    Go UND

By the end of the season, I may agree with you.

So we got the two best OL in the state and the best overall athlete by a wide margin (Klein).

Not a bad year in ND for the staff.

But if they don't win a playoff game this year, many people will be saying that Bubba and staff should not coach these players they recruited.

There’s another really really old one that had stripes on the chest even. From the 30s or something like that. That’d be my preference.

And they need to wear the helmets with only one bar across the face.

4 very good OL commits and its not even July.  :D

Naturally none of us know how they will progress, but all 4 have that "look" of a very projectable OL.

In UND recruiting has this ever been the case? Anyone recall having such a nice group of OL prospects so soon in the process?

(And I know that recruiting has changed over the years, but this feels unprecedented)

Danny will certainly take a few lumps his first year, and probably look back at the end of the year and think of some things he could or should have done differently. and learn for the next year.  As others have eluded though, the bar was so low after Rudy....particularly those last 3-4 game last year, that was simply pathetic.....almost anything will be an improvement.  Was a good post by whoever it was that pointed out that if we score 1 more TD a game last year we are in the playoffs.  7 point jump on average points a game is a lot, but I think with a good OC we may have gotten close to that last year.   Lets just hope the OL excels in this new offense, if they can be successful we will have a good year.

Your last sentence is THE truth about this team and it's possible success or failure. It's all their in the hogs.

TE Max Meouwsen, 6'1”, 230, Green Bay (Port Bay), WI Has offers from Air Force & Navy

Player with offers from 2 military academies seems destined to choose one, right?

I agree they could make it bigger. I know there are reasons for their current reasoning, but I don't know what they are.

But ndsu does a glorified practice instead of a full blown game for their spring game as well, so what exactly does that mean?

Yeah, but they win titles and we don't so the experts will think that not having a great spring game and unattractive uniforms LEADS to playoff game losses.

    Didn't you know that?

bow patient will fans be for the football team

change in offense philosophy wont happen overnight

Guess that just depends on the fan. Some will be rabid if the team starts 1-3

UND had another 50+ prospects on campus today.  A nice post from one of the player's mother:

    Julie Valcarcel Retweeted Nate Valcarcel

Such a great school and the nicest football staff ever . I could honestly say I watched the head coach @BubbaSchweigert greet and shake every recruits and parents hand . Thank you @UNDfootball .

I saw that on Twitter and it made me think that if I was a coach I would do exactly what Bubba is doing.  But if she noticed it, am I wrong to think that other coaches don't. Seems like she was impressed by this as though she'd not seen it before.

Then again, maybe this was her son's first visit.

Reinke didn’t seem to like improve in her 2nd year. I do think she will contribute more these next two years.

saw Manson play five times this year. Seems to have an impressive mentality but is slightly built. Can she compete physically?

In some ways Manson reminds me of Sarah Jacobson.

Your point about "slightly built" is my impression of half the current roster. I was surprised how many looked like high school players based on their size and "thickness."

Perhaps UND doesn't have that much control over the schedule but jeez two games in November and only one in September?  Also UND should not be charging us for tailgating spots in November, at least not for November 23. Highly unlikely those days will be good for tailgating. Yes there will be hardcore tailgaters but the reality is 90% won't be tailgating.

I don't have a tailgate pass, but isn't it for the season? Or is it per game?

Agreed both are good players, but saying one is good on offense and one is good on defense isn’t cutting one short. And seeing Und needs Offense I like her a little more

Not impressed with Reinke. Now her former teammate, Duchscherer looks like a player though I hear that softball is her sport.

If Manson is another Reinke, she'll be a nice enough player but not nearly fast enough to play Summit ball.
