If veerhoef is the #1 pick, this is a really weak draft

For those still crapping on Simon
”We’ve got all the trust and belief ln Simon.
Simon has been in these kind of games, too. No matter what he’s giving us his all.
Hes a kid that’s just going to keep fighting. I’m just happy for him and getting his opportunity.

I was always on the fence on Simon(maybe more off the fence), but he came through when his number was called, credit to the young man.
It almost seemed like the play calling got better when he came in too.
I agree with most of this but would note the the playcalling looks better when the QB can execute the plan or make adjustments that work

I can’t understand how posters recognize the poor play of Jerry and still blame the play calls.
Also can’t understand how some think Simon is so much worse than Jerry. He hits holes faster than Jerry and makes all sorts of better decisions.
The biggest difference : Simon will not lose a game with INTs

It was suggested on here that he said he didn't care about the people second guessing his goal line calls against NDSU because of he had Big 10 and NFL experience. Maybe said it at Sioux Boosters. Just wondering if anybody heard that because my 'source' said he didn't say it there.
Essentially said he didn’t really care what arm chair QBs and guys like us think.
I think that’s a good thing

May see new faces Saturday. Playoffs do not count against red shirt.
Who should be playing?

There was no one covering him at all......at all. I thought that was a for sure 2pt.
Yet somewhere an OC is being blamed

Schmidt was definitely an upgrade in coaching. I wonder now that the continuity provided by keeping Freuchte is no longer needed if Schmidt will bring in a new OC. Offense was definitely the problem in the second half of the season, and Freuchte did come off a little arrogant.
when you have an overrated OL and a mediocre QB no OC could make much of a difference.
If UND gets in the playoffs, there should be an open battle for QB

Anyone else watch the SDSU game on Midco?
No way they play that bad Saturday
1st half was a pick 6, fumble on ensuing kicoff. .
Punter drops the ball after 4 and out. Leaves I state great field possession. They score
It just kept rolling on.

I watched the last 2 games and most of the 3’s were open shots
Got to start knocking them down

If that happens, will you please let us know what your thoughts are regarding special teams? ( preferably multiple times over the next year or so).
I’m wondering if we lose by one game if he has any blame on his Heisman winner.

And I think you can’t throw the OC under the bus when the QB can’t do the job.
OC isn’t telling him to whistle passes at wide open receivers.
If I question anything it’s why the OC sticks with him though at this stage he really has no choice,
‘Though Jerry does well with his legs, Then again we had a running QB last year,

Honestly there’s someone already on offensive staff that you could say is better qualified to run the offense than Fruechte …. he didn’t play in the Big 10 or NFL … but he won FCS national championships as an offensive assistant college coach … something Fruechte can’t claim
I would jump on the OC IF we had a great QB.
We don’t. OC can call all sorts of plays but if QB has no touch, over throws short passes and under throws long passes, Coach Walsh couldn’t look good.

My point is trust the offensive line, quit lining up in shotgun when you need a half yard and run the god damn ball.
The OL could not get the necessary yard on 4th down in the biggest play of the game.
Prior to going to the pass game at the goal line, the OL could not make enough space twice on running plays.
This is not the OL of 2 years ago.

Yes. I was told he probably won’t be back this year. Jerry needs to stay healthy and get back his mojo.
Despite the bizarre and recurrent criticism of Romfo, I believe he is the backup. Before anyone pisses all over their bike horn, maybe take a look at our last two opponents and how a walk on QB (who one guy thinks can’t play at this level) did against USD and NDSU last year.
His 2 game totals included 38 of 53 passes (71%) for 356yds 4 TDs and 0 interceptions. He averaged 3 yds per carry and had 1 TD.
This year against the same 2 opponents our QB was 37 of 68 (54%) for 347yds 0 TDS and 5 interceptions. He averaged 3yds per carry and also had 1 TD
That doesn’t mean we change QB’s, it means we have a capable, experienced QB as our backup. The unhealthy obsession one guy has with our QBs seems to have convinced some others that if something happens to Jerry all hope is lost. Sulik also can step in but needs more time to develop. I’m not worried about the backup QB even if JTJ isn’t available.
That’s only my opinion and I don’t ride my bike past FB practices nor have I claimed to be watching UND FB for 20 yrs, so what do I know? Maybe I’m wrong.
I was too lazy to try to find the stats of the 2 QBs so I’m very thankful you dug them out.
For some it won’t matter, but numbers don’t lie.

It's always easy to blame a coach, but when you dial up a great play and your QB sends the ball to the other team it's not the coach's fault.
The Moving Company could not squeeze a few inches at the goal line on the firt 2 times they had the ball. The same is true when the game was on the line and the OL could not get one dang yard.
Need to do better. If they had there would be no talk of canning coaches.

I wonder if Sam herder will still say NDSU is in a tier of their own?
I wanna see this team do something never done before in the D1 era, make a deep run in the playoffs! If there is a UND team that can do it is this one!
The QB is not a QB who can win playoff games for long
