  1. Certainly it will end up being P5 for the biggest TV contracts and the top players.

    Still room for the others.

It will come down to players being unionized, guaranteed contracts, but contracts that make them stick to the team that signed them at least for some duration of time,

There's a pile of TV money for P5. Not sure how much for the rest.

  2. I was one who wanted Hak out.

I still believe that had he stayed on as coach there would not have been a Natty.

Call it bad luck, a hot goalie, but something ALWAYS got in the way of a Title.

  3. An article at the Athletic last week described the drive for the top 70 teams in one class with the next 60 in a lower level with the best of them able to move up like in Euro soccer relegation.

All players would be in a union and get paid. Not sure where all the money comes from but the SEC, Big 10 and other conferences refuse to join the talks. Mainly due to the monstrous TV contracts they have now.

But, all of them seem to recognize they can not keep up the money race and something has to give.

I drove up to GF to watch the scrimmage and get a free donut. The QB’s threw the ball well. Feeney got picked once but receiver might have knocked it down. Otherwise he had a good day. Kaminski missed on a slant pattern but through a TD on another. Romfo had more pressure from DLine but also threw the ball well.  They all threw the ball well in drills. Hentges (transfer from Mary) didn’t get through his reads as fast but also threw well. Our receivers looked good but we didn’t really try many deep throws. My biggest disappointment in the passing game was despite a new OC it doesn’t seem we realize the TE is an eligible receiver.
Zeibart and Seidel were held out. Donovan Hunt is quick and accelerates quickly. We need to hang on to him and get him involved in the offense.
Oline looks big. Couldn’t tell much cuz it was a scrimmage whistles blown early to protect QB’s. Grant Romfo was the workhouse RB during live running game reps. Most plays were inside runs.
Defensive line kept running game bottled up for the most part. Secondary looks much better. Receivers weren’t running free. LB’s looked to be reacting quicker.
FG guys decent distance but must be more consistent. Punting was nothing special.
I’m sure there were some things I missed. Overall I wouldn’t be pessimistic but we have to get a lot better over the summer.

I’m a big fan of Hunt.

    Hoping he gets more touches.

After firing Mussman, yes the initial goal was to be competitive, which Bubba has done that.  But we really have taken very few strides since 2016.  Our playoff games have been for the most part pretty embarrassing. I felt embarrassed during the first half of that Weber State playoff game. Score ended up being a lot closer than the game really was. Got steam rolled by Nicholls.........yes Nicholls State. Embarrassing.

If you're recounting bad playoff games, last year's Defensive play has to be considered.

  6. I'm grateful for not being 0-12 but if that's the standard around here it's bad news.

I like a 7 win team but please dear God, give me one Playoff W by next year. PLEASE!

I like how you referenced I "participated".  I did participate twice in that thread before it was locked.  And in neither post did I ever reference Firing Hak.  In one I defended the fact that it's still a long season and the other was some thoughtful data about our string of championships against the law of averages.  Over the umpteen years I've been on here I can't say with 100% certainty that I didn't mention the good ol' #FireHak once in a fit of Frozen Four rage, but I don't recall ever doing it and have never believed firing Hak was ever the right choice like I truly believe that replacing Berry is.

I was on the post hoping they'd fire Hak.

I have no regrets. The team COULD NOT win it all with Hak. Not sure why but they just couldn't get over the hump. I don't give a shat about final fours. Give me the title.

Today sucked. Team was not ready to play hockey. Sucked

  8. Though I post here quite often, I have no expectation the Prez or AD will or should listen to anonymous fans.

The ones they will listen to: the money people!

    See Englestad, Ralph and successors.

Unfortunately the only thing that will force Chaves to make a change is at least 2 seasons of missing the playoffs.  Would likely have to be seasons with losing records and blowout loses.  Tough spot for a fanbase looking for change.  Seems like only hope is for this program to hit rock bottom before any significant change to happen.

That will not force Chaves to make a change.

Maybe bubba will prove us wrong with the new coaches he hired

maybe Danny was hindering his ability to coach

And how could  Danny or hindering his ability to coach? The HC is the top dog. How could an underling hinder him?
