I agree with you, shake hands at the end of the game. But do you really think a civil hand shake can be held after a player skates off the bench and blatantly slashes one of the captains of the other team, and then hides behind his teammates laughing?
-
That would have been Jake Hansen. Who then proceeded to hide behind his entire team.
-
And you wonder why everyone calls the gophers a bunch of weak little pansies....it is what it is...
-
Minnesota is lucky that Jake Hansen hid like a little school girl, or Blood would be suspended for killing him in front of everyone on the ice.
-
Notice it says "violently" into the boards. Checking into the boards is very legal in hockey. Please, someone back me up.
-
Ummm. Checking into the boards is not illegal.

O'Donnell possibly being hurt, and the likely scenario that Grimaldi won't be back makes this hill that much tougher to climb for this team. Talk about an unlucky year for injuries.
-
I know there are ten minutes left, but honestly I really hope we have no stupid decisions here by any UND players. UND is so short handed right now that they can't afford any suspensions for next weekend. O'Donnell shaken up, hopefully he's okay.

UND/NDSU football commentary: You can't retire stupid
Wilbur replied to Hayduke's topic in UND Nickname
Hey now.....NDSU played Georgia Southern.....whose plane landed in Tuscaloosa Alabama.....Same thing right? -
My guess is that Forbort will be in the lineup, and Rocco will be out. Forbort wanted to play against Clarkson according to numerous sources. I'm thinking that Knight will try and give it a go as well.

Agreed. I think the WCHA is a little more like the NHL than the OHL is with the physical defensemen in the league. If you look at the Whaler's schedule they've played in a lot of games where you have 8-10 goals scored, which is completely atypical of an NHL hockey game where on average you have 4-6 goals scored. A lot of wide open play in the OHL that you won't see when the NHL comes calling.

Seems like the popular thing to do these days is jump ship and do the MJ thing. You just hope that early commits like the Thompson kid from Devils Lake doesn't head that route, as he basically has three years of the CHL trying to get him north of the border. You just wonder what type of success Jack Campbell, JT Miller, Jared Tinordi, Emerson Etem, etc. would have in the college game. Unfortunately in the case of JT Miller, at this point he probably feels like the best choice was made in his situation because he is having huge success for Plymouth. Through 32 games he's second on the team in ppg at 1.22, and is tied for second on the team in total points (He would probably lead his team in points if he had the full allotment of games under his belt for the Whalers).

I think the Fighting Irish (hopefully that will never change) exposed a flaw in Mr. Patterson in their victory last night, that a lot of people didn't think was a weakness he had. He is a good goaltender, but not the best glove hand in the world. Three of their four goals were glove side goals, and on the breakaway goal you could tell that the Irish player had watched his film and was going glove the whole way. Need a rocking building to get this team going this next weekend. I'll predict a split, with the possibility of UND making it a three point weekend.

It has surprised the hell out of me that UND hasn't brought a player in mid year. I'd love to hear from the coaches why they haven't tried to bring someone in, or if there is something holding them from bringing a player or two in.
-
The sad thing is that its only early January.....you're telling me that no other player is going to get hurt this season? This team making the NCAA tournament would be one of the greatest feats in UND hockey history. If things stay the same, UND will be playing with three lines against the gophers.....yikes....
-
Correct about the fire and passion. I can't believe the team didn't show more of it this tournament. After the Canada game the players talked about how the crowd fired them up, and they loved it......none of them really played like it fired them up (maybe Emerson Etem). Zucker went ahead and told everyone that he thought the U.S. would beat Canada, and he really didn't show up until the third period against Canada. The U.S. should beat Latvia 12-0....but the way this team played this tournament I wouldn't be shocked if the Latvian goaltender was made to look like an NHL caliber goaltender and its a one or two goal game either way.

Agreed. Last year=depth up the wazoo, and they still brought in Dickin at the midway point....This year's depth=down the wazoo and we haven't heard of any possible moves to be made.
-
I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that the team has set something up for him to allow him to keep himself in the best shape possible. That or there is like 20 outdoor rinks in Grand Forks....he can skate wherever he wants.
-
Crap.....Panzarella gone......just what the Sioux needed. Guess that means that Gleason goes back to play defense.
-
3-1 Sioux.....tremendous play by Pattyn to keep the play alive, and Kristo finishes the play the way he normally does.
-
Nick Bjugstad shows absolutely no grit down low and its 2-0 Canada.....You can't lose defensive position down low like that.... This team deserves the relegation round with the way they're playing right now.
-
Stupid penalty=Canadian Goal Sioux penalty=Harvard Goal Funny how that works....
-
No better time to get back at the Canadian crowd than tonight. There is nothing better than beating a team favored to win on their home soil. We'll learn what type of character this team has after two tough losses.
-
I thought the same thing Brian. Throw him out on a wing with Nelson and Kristo, they'll make anyone look good. You've got to believe Lamoureax is doing his absolute best to try and get himself into the lineup, but the coaches aren't going to risk it for the stretch run in the league. I remember a couple years ago some gopher fans on USCHO were railing on UND and Blais for having so many players on the team, and having so many guys having to sit out because you can only dress 20 for a game.....doesn't seem like such a bad thing to have those extra bodies around....
-
My lord.....talk about depleted lineup......This has to be the worst year in terms of injuries in Sioux history.
