I thought the same thing Brian. Throw him out on a wing with Nelson and Kristo, they'll make anyone look good. You've got to believe Lamoureax is doing his absolute best to try and get himself into the lineup, but the coaches aren't going to risk it for the stretch run in the league. I remember a couple years ago some gopher fans on USCHO were railing on UND and Blais for having so many players on the team, and having so many guys having to sit out because you can only dress 20 for a game.....doesn't seem like such a bad thing to have those extra bodies around....
-
My lord.....talk about depleted lineup......This has to be the worst year in terms of injuries in Sioux history.
-
Agreed 100 percent. Kristo, Nelson, and Blood played a ton of minutes, and they all played extremely hard in OT. In OT you could see Blood absolutely hit a wall when he rushed the puck up the ice and tried to create a chance. The guy is an absolute warrior. He could be making a lot of money playing hockey elsewhere, but he came back and is playing his ass off every shift.
-
Give Harvard credit. They knew the officials wouldn't call another one so they did everything in their power to prevent the puck from getting to their net. Boy would the Sioux love to have Forbort, Lamoureax, Grimaldi, and Knight back in the lineup. The Sioux couldn't roll lines in the third period, and looked like they got absolutely gassed.

Powerplay to win the hockey game.....
-
You can't give up a three on one in the last minute of the game with the score tied.....Blood just saved the game for the Sioux....
-
Lots of throwing the puck around in their own end. But when you are so short manned and you get tired thats what happens....
-
Interesting.....guy rips off Dell's glove.......wonder what they'll call this one. I'm guessing a goal.
-
Harvard goal. Got to finish the game here Sioux.
-
Funny....my Sioux crew T-shirt still says Sioux Crew on it..... And the sign on my front door of the house still says "Fighting Sioux Fans Live Here"...... Long live the Fighting Sioux!

Obviously the Canadians have everything to lose in this game. A) You don't want to lose to your hated rival in your national pastime. (See D for explanation) B) You don't want to get anybody hurt because you've already earned the bye into the semifinal. C) You want to keep the mo going because you've played extremely well this tournament, and any letdown against the U.S. could carry over into the semifinal. D) Even if they win the gold medal, but lost to the Americans, people in Canada will remember. Hell, I've got a lot of Canadian relatives and they still remember the Fleury own goal to lose to the Americans, or the new years eve game a while back, when the goaltender from Michigan State (I think Joe Blackburn), and Brian Gionta stole the show. Long story short, they don't like losing to the U.S.A. Tomorrow night is the gold medal game for the Americans. No pressure, they've already assured themselves of fighting off relegation. Shouldn't be a ton of nerves in the U.S. locker room. I personally think the U.S. will get rolled tomorrow, but its not like they've played terribly in the last two losses. Canada 5....USA 2

Talk about a devastating breakdown off of the faceoff that lead to the Harvard goal....Can't let that happen.....
-
And after reading that all the Finns have to do is beat Denmark.....relegation round here we come.... Yikes could it get really chippy tomorrow night.....
-
Backs against the wall.....need to beat the Canadians to have a chance at the medal round. No better way to get back at the crowd then to beat their dearly beloved on new years.....
-
I like the fact that Blais got a different goaltender in there today. Campbell wasn't great by any means against Denmark, and it could be his wakeup call. The Fins have a horrible goal differential (thanks to the host nation), so even with two losses the U.S. should be able to get into the playoff portion of the tournament. We'll see what team shows up on Friday.
-
I'd rather see Campbell give up some weak ones against Denmark than Canada or Finland. He is going to have to be solid for the United States to get by a Canadian team that seems to have gelled pretty well together.
-
I think two of Denmark's goals were ones Campbell should have. Not much he could do on the first one, but the other two he'd probably like back. The third goal was a cross ice one timer that went five hole on him because his stick wasn't in the right spot. I bet if you ask him he'd like all three back.

U.S. wins 11-3. Need a bit of work on the pk, but a nice effort.

Hendrickson had a load of troubles before he came to UND but he kind of turned it around and matured as an individual and stayed out of trouble during his time in Grand Forks. Very concerning though with the others...
-
I would have loved to hear the 1st intermission speech from coach Blais. Completely different team in the second period.
-
Agreed. And at the same time the same thing has happened to North Dakota. I remember thinking that Chris Fournier would light the world on fire his freshman season......not so much....

Agreed with some of the posters above. Kids like Fasching are going to go to Minnesota. I mean in this kids case he can play college hockey close to his family, and everyone knows his background with the issues that his siblings have. I really thought there was no way he'd end up at UND, and I'm kind of surprised UND was in the running as long as they were. Agree with Goon as well. UND's coaches do a tremendous job recruiting hockey players. People are pissed off this year because of some of the injuries and defections have hurt the depth at forward on this years squad. I believe this coaching staff has done a remarkable job in recruiting role players that will be around for three or four years, and have an impact when they are juniors and seniors. Look no further than Frattin-Trupp-Malone. Didn't exactly set the world on fire their first few years at UND, but by the time they were seniors they were one of the best lines in college hockey. The same can be said for this years group. Lot of young faces, but they continue to get better as the games go by.

Although the Sioux didn't end up winning the NC, my favorite football game of all time was the Northern Alabama game in the semifinals at the Alerus Center. It was an unreal crowd, and an unreal effort from a UND squad that was a lot less talented than that group from Northern Alabama. I'll never forget the Sioux scoring a TD on their first offensive play on a play action pass and the place going absolutely crazy.....what a game... All time favorite football moment would have to be when Digger Anderson stuck Rod Malone on 4th and one in overtime to end the last UND-NDSU football game. That is the loudest I've ever heard the Alerus Center.

End of two. 4-1 good guys.

I was wondering how long UAA was going to get to play with 7 skaters on the ice plus a goalie.....
