Interesting stat today I found out from a college football guru. Double checked it and the SOB was right.... 2007 Minnesota finished: 1-11 2010 Kansas finished : 3-9 2011 Minnesota finished: 3-9 2012 Colorado state finished: 4-8 2013 Kansas state....currently 0-1 Total combined record: 11-38 Hopefully Kansas State makes that number look a bit better as the year goes on.

Rocco centers the first unit, Mark Mac the second, St. Clair the third, Pattyn the fourth. I think Gaarder could fit in there as well, but those four are the guys I think start the season there. I think this team will miss Corban more than they know in the faceoff circle. Man was he lights out.

I come away concerned with run defense as well after this one. Need to stiffen that area up or they won't need to worry about giving up pass plays next weekend against Bugs Bunny and co.

Both QB's showed some nice poise and arm strength. Lets see how they look when they're playing scholarship athletes.

Jim's biggest impact came his Freshman year when there wasn't enough healthy bodies and he was forced into the action. Last year with more healthy bodies around you could tell the writing was on the wall for Jim. When he did play he seemed to be pressing, and wasn't the same player he was his Freshman year. Maybe you could attribute it to playing more relaxed as a Freshman because he knew he was going to be in the lineup come game time. In the end, somebody already said it best. Late addition to the crew, wouldn't have played very much if at all this year, get to a place that will give him an opportunity to play.

Only time I saw highlights of Valpo or anything was when they came to Fargo years ago and got murdered by NDSU. Undersized, under talented, and no football scholarships. UND 52 Valp 14 Come out of it healthy....come out of it healthy.

Hmmm....team that won the conference. Not surprising. I guess EWU being worse than UND in that category is surprising, but with the points they put up on people in a hurry I guess it makes sense.

I like the stable of running backs that UND has, but would like to see a complete packaged type guy recruited in the next couple of years. Although those guys usually end up playing in stadiums that seat six to seven times what the Alerus does.

Lots of talk about the receiving corps, but I'm glad there has been an emphasis on running the football as well. Even with the belief that the defense will be completely different this year and much better you're not going to shut down the likes of EWU, MSU, Northern Arizona, etc. Moving the chains via the ground game and churning up some clock on scoring drives will be huge this season. I'd like to see a stat for average time of possession the offense had last year. For this team to make the playoffs they have to possess the football for longer spurts than they did last season.

All respect to the University of Valpo football program, but I could start at QB in that game and UND would win.

I think the upset could happen with EWU vs. Oregon State. That should be a good football game.

I was wondering why this made it back up to the top of the forum..... So in separating all the facts out: ~Hakstol is okay with bar fights.... ~Mafia is still a tool.... ~Dean Blais is still kind of a big deal to some folks... ~Travis Beck isn't the only college athlete fighting in bars... ~Alex Simonson may or may not have the character to be at the scene of that bar fight... And in other news, why do the Vikings think Ponder is the answer? Watching him QB the vikings is like watching Jeff Frazee stop a puck from the far goal line......
