I would be extremely surprised if Paranica lets it get to 12-0 at a state tournament. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't score in the third period. Run time, line up slow, pucks deep, first line doesn't see the ice more than twice. Can you imagine though if they didn't hit the breaks? If their first line rolled all game long.....

I'm not sure whether to reply to boxing out in basketball, checking in women's hockey and youth levels, or boys high school hockey...... That being said does Central have a team stay with three goals of them this weekend?

Disaster......

USA hockey taking away the checking from pee wee hockey IMHO turned Bantam hockey into a disaster. The hunters: Freshman aged boys who have a year of body contact under their belts and know they will get their chance to destroy someone in front of their buddies, which is the only reason their buddies came to a 9 AM game on a Sunday morning. The hunted: 8th grade boys who are still used to coming up ice with their heads down because they've never had to pay for it. So they respond with flying elbows, crosschecks, punches, etc.... And then you as the official get to talk to the 21 year old (sometimes hung over) head coach of the offenders because he doesn't like how soft the game is getting......

Think Karl Goehring look a like.

With the attendance going down year after year you wonder if Bismarck or Minot may get into the discussion to host. Love the REA, but watching state tournament games in the Olympic rink flat out sucks.

Three of the first round games should be okay. I played with the coach from Mandan, and I'm happy for him and his kids, but they don't have a chance. Like zero percent.....Miracle on ice part 2???? First round: Central 8 Mandan 0 Bismarck 4 South-S 2 Red River 3 Century 2 Davies 5 Minot 2

So Feeney or Thome against the Bulldogs. I'm guessing Thome makes his return. So if Thome gets blasted by Duluth again does Feeney get a chance on Saturday?

If it's something that would be fun for me it's a definite no. I take enough heat for leaving to play golf in the summer.

Loved officiating too. Was a year away from doing some local club hockey lines. The worst part was parents coming up to me after the games questioning the rules and me having to explain that USA hockey makes the rules and we abide by them. After a while I just got the officiating rule book AP USA hockey created and would pull up the rule so they could see it.

Just watched the highlights from the game. Nice to see them actually bury chances. This team has missed more great looks than @MafiaMan has missed his entire broom ball career.

I didn't have high hopes for him coming in either, but his Freshman year probably got my hopes up on him a wee bit. Thought that getting 6 his rookie year could have meant 10 as a Soph and up from there going forward.

Will never forget my week at hockey camp with him.....my....God..... I turned out okay though.

If he said that then his job in the school system is likely in jeopardy pending review.

When Chase doesn't come back who wants that Red River job? Paranica was almost lynched after Minot and Bismarck beat them in the title game consecutive years. Chase a class guy every time I talked/coached/played against teams he coached. Wish him well.

This is the hard truth. I coached high school....parents terrible.... Quit coaching and teaching and got into officiating to help our youth program.....parents terrible..... The last game I ever reffed was a 12U girls game that turned into a travesty when two girls hit each other head on with both their heads down going for a loose puck. God I hope I don't turn into one of those parents....

Maybe a better estimate would have been 10-15. After scoring 6 as a Freshman (cough....7....BU Fargo regional) and being unhealthy much of last year I figured being three years into college hockey his game would improve. You're right, 15-20 was likely shooting way to high up in the stars for him.
