  1. It was an entertaining and yet frustrating game to watch today. We missed most of the first half due to EDC VB and made it just in time to watch our kicker doink it off the upright to close out the half. Im not one to blame all of the missed kicks by a backup kicker on Kostich but a more accurate kicker would have won at least one more game for us this year and there are multiple times where we didnt attempt a FG where we probably should have. For me some of the head scratchers Tommy's inability to run.. early in the 3rd quarter he could have easily run for 10-20 yards and instead threw a ball into double coverage. Later that 3rd down run.. should have been an easy first down.. but that half slide came up short. He just doesnt look like a natural runner... if he was the offense would be a lot more dangerous. punts from the opponents 35 yd line.. Im sorry.. I dont get those. turnovers.. yowza.. takes two TD's off the board. Lack of targeting Maag and Zalvaney.. seems like two significant size mismatches. The o-line did not look great today.. probably had something to do with Waletzko being out of there.. Entertaining parts How about that defense.. I know the redbirds arent exactly good on offense.. but except for that one long play for a TD they could not move the ball. We have some very good young players and have been developing some depth. We have had significant defensive injuries this year and still are fielding a very competitive defense. I love watching #44 out there.. glad he is coming back. His family sits in our section and they are the most active cheerleaders in the stands. Tommy was throwing a nice ball out there today.. although the brockstar bailed him out on that catch into double coverage. The brockstar is looking good. Otis.. Otis.. Otis.. Man, his last big run when he dragged that poor little d-back about 15 yards.. He also had a big catch and run. Our RB room is deep but it sure is fun to watch Otis. Im looking forward to watching "the Gavel" (credit Jack) Gavin Ziebarth over the upcoming years as well. If we are going to keep going with the dual QB approach.. I want to see more of the Quincy package around the endzone. The apposing team clearly focuses on him running the ball (hello QB as a running threat) and it leads to wide open receivers that can adjust even on a significantly underthrown ball. This team has clearly not quit this year.. so hopefully all of the bozos that were predicting that they would fold and quit after the losses shuts up. They are clearly still playing with pride and energy. The biggest frustration I have with this team this year is unmet expectations. They are close.. I dont see a path to the playoffs even if they win next week and so this is a woulda coulda shoulda type year. Of their 5 losses 4 were very winnable
  2. Hey.. when the kids are playing VB in the EDC tournament sometimes you have to travel in bad weather. The roads were not good today, but they werent all that bad as long as you werent going 70 mph. We "enjoyed" the 2nd half of the football game after VB was over. I agree with Oxbow.. would be more fun if they had a legit playoff chance.
  3. I’m looking forward to a win next week which will keep SDSU game interesting. The team found a way to win this game.. when they have found a way to lose the last couple!
  4. I would love to see a lot of Quincy in the second half.. I’m not sure if his lack of playing time is indicative of his talent level or Danny. It doesn’t seem to me that Tommy has played well enough to keep a talented Backup on the sideline. Danny gets to see them both everyday on practice so what do we know. At some point it would be great to see what Quincy can do in actual real games with a full playbook.
  5. Doesn’t look like the defense made the flight back. let’s hope the offense can roll and the defense makes some adjustments.
  6. This is how I feel 100%!
  7. This is exactly what I said.. the early decision to punt from the 36 was a bubba call. the trick play on 4th was a Danny call.. the last fumble was on Otis.. the defense combusting in the 4th quarter was on? I didn’t get to see it due to espn+ garbage but it sounded like a lot of different issues. so it seems there is plenty of coach blame to go around.. seems like bubba.. Danny and holinka all have some thinking to do.. might as well throw in kostich as we continue to kick off out of bounds and don’t have faith in ability to kick FG
  8. anyone have any idea if there is a way to watch the 2nd half? I would be interested in doing so.. although i might be a glutton for punishment. I would really like to see the 3rd quarter as it sounded like we had quite a good quarter and then played about as bad as possible the last 10 minutes of the game. I would like to see the trick play on 4th down, the Otis fumble, and the defense fall apart and see if it was as bad as we are all making it out to be. I checked the ESPN app and the on demand coverage drops at the end of the 1st half as well.
  9. Players Play and Coaches coach.. or at least that is what I have heard. Having a young man make a mistake while going all out or or something similar is one thing Having a coach with 30+ years of coaching experience regularly make questionable game decisions at critical moments is a different thing. They get paid decent amounts to do better then that.
  10. Just a thought fellas.. 4th down punt is on bubba 4th down trick play call is on Danny f. fumble is on Otis.. defense forgets to play the 4th quarter Any of those variables change it’s a W.. losing was a team effort.. cheering for this team is a frustrating experience. Stealing defeat from the jaws of victory over and over.
  11. While that might be true.. i think the regular comments on him are overdone.. he went to a hs football game that his brother was playing in on a weekend he wasn’t traveling with the team.. I’ll take over reacting for 500 Alex.
  12. Just in case anyone is still wondering if Otis is a difference maker..
  13. Can always listen to the game on the fighting hawks app as well
  14. Down by 3 and we get the ball to start the 3rd quarter? I’ll take it! Holinka will have the defense dialed up in the 2nd half and the offense can clearly move the ball.. just need some rhythm.
  15. This espn stream with no score or down and distance really sucks
  16. We have a Maag sighting!
  17. Bubba has to be the worst 4th down coach in history.. he needs to channel a little costanza and do the opposite of whatever he was going to do
  18. Im also surprised by this. It seems like we have a big left tackle, who is supposed to be going pro (who brought quite a contingent of fans on Saturday.. very nice family) and Otis. It seems like we should be able to get a couple of yards when necessary running over the top of that big fella.
  19. I thought the d-line played great yesterday! Watching those sophomore and redshirt freshmen d-linemen roll gave me a lot a hope for the rest of this year and the coming years.
  20. I know we should all pick out team apart here in the name of “keeping it real “ but.. * Otis was rolling today.. fun to watch.. running and catching. They should throw him the ball more * defense played great against and offense that has shredded some teams. One bad play that allowed 6 after a dumb running into the punter penalty. Holding them them to 10 is pretty damn good. * kicker made all kicks.. looked good * I liked the offense looks with both QBs.. Quincy looked good.. but so did Tommy. * time management at the end of the half was annoying.. I was happy with the performance but not totally satisfied.. but man.. good D.. solid O.. good special teams.. I’ll take it.
  21. I believe it was well known that he was not playing.. but you could be correct.
  22. This is my hope as well. I think we can all agree that Otis seems to be a very positive force both talent wise and hyping up his team mates on the sideline. I thought when he was on the sidelines at the Drake game he was still very positive. I love the Otis story and watching him on the field and I hope this can be figured out both for him personally and the team as well. The outlier to this in my mind is the contrast to Maag.. who is also injured but was at the SIU game on the sideline. I would have expected that if Otis was well enough to be at the High School game on Friday that he would have been well enough to be on the sideline during the SIU game.
  23. I continue to believe that Quincy should get more touches.. not just as a runner. He is not a runner. I would like to see if he can be as good as we all think. I also assume the coaches know a few things and are putting the best guy out there. I assume Danny can evaluate QB play and isn’t starting our 3rd best option. Finally I hope Feeney is the real deal and beats the bison 3 or 4 times. Would be a great story!
  24. Just for clarity.. after suffering through two years of ketteringham.. and zero suitable backups.. we are so stacked in the QB room that we are worried that 1 or 2 or them will hit the transfer portal as they can’t beat out a guy everyone is calling a “game manager” I just can’t buy that line of reasoning.
  25. I think Quincy put one right on Bo Belquist close to the end of Q3.. it was the same series as when we went for it on 4th and 5 on the 20 yd line instead of attempting a field goal. I could be mixed up but that is how I remember it.
