Does Tommy still have 1 or 2 years of eligibility left? Im pretty optimistic about our QB room in general Tommy/Quincy for the next year or 2.. Feeney/Romfo in the wings Kaminsky pushing them both. This of course could change overnight with transfers etc..

It looked like the wrong call to everyone except slowhand .. in reality ICW still stopped the bison after that crap call with plenty of time to win/tie and if the QB hadn’t made a really poor decision on that throw they still had plenty of time and were easily moving the ball. the bison always seem to do enough even on a day where they could have easily lost ICW was just overcompensating tonight and if not for a few bad decisions/mistakes could have won the game going away. blaming the refs is stupid.. they made plenty of crap calls on both sides.. they were consistently terrible for both teams

The refs made a lot of crappy calls tnigjt.. the worst was in the bison favor with what should have been a clear turnover. But overall the refs were complete trash on both sides. ICW beat themselves with 4 turnovers and unwillingness to kick a couple obvious field goals.. they won a lot of games with their aggressive play calling and they are a blast to watch.. but they could have easily won with a little common sense tnigjt.

I was actually making a different point.. I dont think there was anywhere close to 8355 people at the ACU game. I would be surprised if there were more than 6000. I was at the game and it was empty.

Im still amazed that the Abilene Chr attendance was so high.. there was nobody there (im guessing that 2-3k seaons ticket holders had tickets that didnt show up that must still count).. additionally Im surprised the SD attendance wasnt higher... I really thought we would have 10-11k in attendance at that game.

Yes it was... but not reviewed for targeting or anything like that I dont believe, If you want to watch it and you have ESPN+... you can watch all of the games its at about 2:48 in the 3hr recording.

This is an interesting debate to me.. I watched multiple games where we had zero push up front and the QB could sit back there and pick apart the secondary. Also particularly the last two games it seemed like our d-line was getting pushed about 5 yds deep on every play and the opposing teams had zero reason to actually even try to throw the ball. A couple of surprises for me this last year.. I was really surprised our d-line wasnt better.. I really thought this would be the strength of our defense. I wasnt surprised the secondary struggled early due to the attrition last year. I think we have some talent in this group both transfer and youth and I was surprised that they didnt improve more as the year went on.. scheme?? I wonder if the primary issues werent our LB's and the turnover from 21 to 22.. seemed poor in coverage and not generating the pressure up front. Also.. I love KK.. he brings great energy and heart.. but man did he struggle in coverage. The cupboard must have been really bare to keep rolling him out there week after week. You could make quite a video montage of him chasing the person he was supposed to be covering across the field in big situations this year. My biggest hope is a cole reyes type .. and who is our Ratelle.. Turner.. Bennett type for 23.

They threw a flag.. but also ended the game after the hit with 1:07 still remaining after about a 10 min delay. It wasn’t helmet to helmet or anything.. but it was a late hit while the qb was sliding and the qbs head bounced off the turf a couple times. It did not look good. I hope the kid is ok and at least the latest reports online say he is moving all of his extremities. The way the kid reacted it Reminded me of the Tua hit.

Would any of your opinions change if we had hosted the playoff game yesterday and won? Take a look at the record of the home teams yesterday. I believe we win that game at home.. better than 75%. I still don’t understand how our run defense became so !@#!$.. 350+ on the ground two weeks in a row.. and they didn’t even run the triple option .. they just bashed it right up the middle.

The argument that the big sky sucks or just that Idaho and Montana and even us were just in the bottom quarter of the playoff pool is a little different.

I agree.. I also knew going into the game in order to win that the offense had to maintain possession and help out the defense.. clearly we didn’t do that

The offense in the first half was just as bad as the defense.. we were running the ball well and we kept trying to throw it. the defense might play a bit better if the offense didn’t keep giving the ball right back. We know the offense has been the better unit this year but they kept throwing the defense right back out on the field. A couple of nice long drives by the offense on the first half would have helped those guys out as well.

If you are watching any of the otjer games today.. all of the attendance sucks.. it’s like watching any hockey regional except for the ones UND is in I guarantee we would have had better attendance at the alerus than the majority of these games.

I think a lot of people were thinking holinka was awesome last year.. he didn’t all of the sudden go to !@#$.. I personally thought the d-line was going to be good.. they seemed terrible this year. I really wonder what happened.. scheme.. transfer portal.. what? Our defense played with zero confidence or aggression

I would like to hear from a couple of the really smart football guys.. how did our defense regress so badly this year. Move KK to outside linebacker please

Just so I have it clear in my head…. a group of mediocre.. below average WRs (except belquist).. somehow have participated in an offense which is near the top of the Missouri valley. Man our coaches must be really good to end up with those kind of stats with such a bunch of mediocre talents.. .. lots of sarcasm in case it didn’t come through. I’ll take a belquist/maag/red/Dennis type every year.. and maybe wish for a true burner type as well (although maag has been plenty open on many deep routes) the wr group has been one of our positives this year and about 100th on the priority list behind pretty much every defensive position..

I actually agree 100%.. by the way if you have a problem with this go check out our fellas when we played Youngstown this year. it would have been nice if our guys played more like they did against YSU and less like they did against NDSU.

Kelly talks about this every week on the podcast.. Make our DB's play man to man coverage.. simplify their assignments. Stop it with the soft zone. Simplify the Defense.. so far our complex defensive schemes seem to be only confusing us . Blown Coverages.. Unfilled gaps.. Speaking of the podcast.. hopefully we still get the podcast this week and another Day by Day from Midco.

Ill have to go back and watch that play.. I remember it a little different and thought the officials did the right thing. I think there was a question as to if Maag was even down on the play and I thought the dback did what he needed to do. I also wouldnt have had a problem if Maag had plowed him over after that happened.

Im going with a more optimistic view for Saturday.. Kelly green glasses are firmly in place... until at least the 3rd quarter The offense will not make the uncharacteristic mistakes that they made last Saturday.. We will not have a goofy fumble.. the o-line will continue to play well and be improved over the NDSU version. Hooseman/Smith/Red will be great and Tommy and the WR's will have a good game. Quincy will dominate the short yardage like normal. Special teams will have at least one block.. either FG or punt.. on kickoffs we will either just kick it out of bounds or pooch it every single time The Defense is going to have its best game of the year. After being embarrassed against the Bison they are going to suck it up and have a decent game.. Im settling for mediocre/decent from the defense and that seems optimistic but.... We cant have a first quarter like we had against NDSU or a 3rd quarter like we had against SDSU. My guess is the crowd wont be much of a factor as I would be surprised if they get 10k attendance and in an outdoor stadium on a holiday weekend with that layout I dont think it will be a factor. Looks like the weather forecast is decent (40 degrees and little wind).. not quite the friendly confines of the Alerus Center.
